We'll see how the format of this thread goes, but I will most likely update this thread with some kind of a way to directly contact me so I can update this thread in a timely manner.

Just a quick post officially stating what is "allowed", since the board is now even more active and the answers that I gave are now mostly off the front page.

There's one way you can judge whether something is appropriate for this board or not:

"Does this involve watching (or otherwise observing) someone else playing a game?"

If the answer to that is yes, then it's appropriate. This includes anything from live streams to screenshot LPs/stories to Dwarf Fortress stories. If it's about sharing your experiences (usually visually but there's no harm in allowing other forms too), it's welcome.

Garret from Mega64 does his Poorly Played Stream every Wednesday, his highlights are usually on the Mega64Podcast channel.

You'll have to watch a few of their videos to understand really everything, because they don't drop memes or shit, but they have a shitload of inside jokes. Just really funny stuff.

I've been watching a lot of PlagueofGripes here lately, he'll say what he wants and rarely gives a fuck. Though, he's mostly known for his art, he has done a few LPs and is working through Dark Souls.

BitterBits are pretty great and are willing to try anything out. A lot of Dark Souls fills their channel. They're both really chill about things and aren't scared off by weeb things like most.

Funhaus, formerly Inside Gaming, are pretty good, but Adam is such shit and if you don't like Rooster Teeth or Achievement Hunter be sure to avoid a few of their videos since they're partnered with each other. Gaming wise, they stayed the same from the IG days.

Vinesauce, mostly for Vinny and Joel. Their personalities are great and will also play most anything.

Someone recommended this board to me since they noticed that I've been uploading video game play.

Not much to say about it. Two of my friends join me over skype and say some dumb crap while I suck at the actual game.

Right now, it's mostly Witcher 3 stuff, but I do have footage from other games that just need editing.

Any advice?

Why not emulate & record with OBS? Save your money. Both the Dreamcast + the N64 have solid emulators these days. You can even get a Saturn emulator going if for some odd reason you wanted one.

If you really want a card, I guess a Dazzle would do the trick.

I just bought a Roxio Game Capture to find out that it only accepts Y/CR/CB connections which means I can't use it for older generation gaming like I intended.

Is there any way around this? Is there a card around $150 that I could get that accepts HDMI/Composite/Component so I can really get the most bang for my buck?

If I do anything with a camera, I use my camera fed into my HD PVR 2. Gets some pretty good quality. I'm also able to just record it straight to the HDD on the thing if I want to have the higher quality footage for later. Better than a basic webcam all in all.

Games are mostly Steam/PC/emulated, though I've done a number of PS2 games legit.
