I don't know about your Sonic comparison though; in the old Sonic games (which I'm planning to do next after having replayed them) you definitely lose all of your rings when you are hit. The difference is that the controls in Croc are (relatively) bad, so Sonic can pick up rings easier than Croc gems. Unless you were talking about post-SA, which I have no idea about.

Unfortunately, I personally don't really care much for the "popular games" that everyone plays. So I feel Alien Isolation is a bit overdone already. That's just my opinion though, so I'm sure some people will enjoy it.
As for the syncing thing, I don't use Audition, so I can't say much about that. I personally use Audacity, but I also have to sync up audio and video. The way I do it is by doing some action in the game after starting to record (flip through menus, jump etc.) while saying "beep", counting or making clicking noises in your recording software. That way you can easily line the audio and video up in your editing software of choice.

Yes, Alien: Isolation is getting a bit overdone, but I really wanted to try the game out and, since it's a recent game, it'll be a chance for people to find out about my channel in an easier way. I do intend to play some older games though (Heroes of Might and Magic III, for example, is one of my favorite games).

Right now just dark souls 2 is a complete playthrough as i worked through some problems while getting my set up sorted since the dazzle is a finnicky little bitch ad i was playing DS 2 at the time so it starts shitty and ends respectable but shitty and now doing silent hill and final fantasy crystal chronicles.
Eventually i hope to put up reviews and looks at older obscure games from stuff like the saturn, dreamcast, original xbox and so on that arent considered the go to retro games. Basically hoping to A: be slightly entertaining with my bridge troll style lack of charm and B: make people go 'oh shit i forgot this existed, guess ill go check it out'. Though right now mainstream stuff just while i've been working with capturing video-something im not used to compared to working with actual HDV which is much more user friendly.
All i can say is dont base it all on the first few dark souls videos, save calling me a fagget for the later stuff where i still deserve it, but at least i'll feel better about its deservedness.

I tried the LP scene some years ago, but fell into an emotional sinkhole, and just recently started this channel since I'm pretty much unable to use my free time for anything else.

A few technical details of my recording situation:
The mic is a usb blue snowball, I think it's pretty good, recording software is called "simple screen recorder" it runs on linux and I cannot use 'rawvideo' for capture, rawvideo is broken every time I used it and it cannot be encoded.
Simple screen recorder requires special libraries be injected into the game to capture video, which for steam games is an issue as many games seem pissed if steam does load it's own runtime.

I started off with the Long War mod which massively increases difficulty and extends game length to (I'm told) 150+ hours. I'm also playing on Ironman, which commits irrevocable saves after every turn. I'm playing on normal so as not to wipe on EVERY mission. I have no idea what I'm doing and all mistakes are horribly punishing. It's been enjoyable so far.

It is obviously camera first, video second, but I know Canon was trying to push the pro video recording angle pretty hard around it's release at least with the T2i/T3i etc line. It'd be surprising if the cameras weren't designed to handle it.

Embedded video isn't a LP, but the footage was taken from a stream where I got my friends together to play International Online Soccer and Bumper Cars, dead mods for HL1. Took me about 100 hours to make probably. I never really kept track of the time wasted. (27 views at the moment! Good time investment. Am already in the process of making another.)

Played through the Wonderswan port of Makai Toushi SaGa (Final Fantasy Legend 1), then the DS ports for SaGa 2 and SaGa 3 (FFL 2 & 3). ALMOST through Romancing SaGa Minstrel's Song, and as I said earlier I'm currently doing Romancing SaGa 2.
The fun thing about Romancing SaGa 2 is that I'm playing it in Japanese and interpreting it live like the weeaboo that I am. Considering the game doesn't have a translation patch that has the story in it that might be neat to some people.
