Anyone played this game? It looks pretty based for a RTS game. What do you think?

http://glest.org

https://megaglest.org/ (forked version, I only found this version in my repo)

 No.1707

Some parts are great but other parts a shit. The artwork inconsistency is most annoying to me. I prefer Annex much more. Just my opinion.

Hey BO, it would be cool if you have another page with a list of libre games and/or websites which lets the user to download games or mods.

 No.1711

That's a nice idea. Care to elaborate though? Are you saying, like the sticky but more elaborate? Or an ftp to download games and mods?

 No.1712

Linux Game Database references some libre games, even though that's along a ton of proprietary indie shit.

 No.1713

>>1711

I mean we have this right now:

https://8ch.net/lv/rules.html

https://8ch.net/lv/newb.html

What I mean is if we could have another one with a list of websites, games, mods etc…

So something like this maybe:

https://8ch.net/lv/games.html

>>1712

Yeah but that website would be then refrenced under games.html instead of creating a FTP somewhere. Which I assume you cannot provide the bandwidth for it.

Admittedly I am sweet on both anime and RTS games. Which is why I love this anime RTS so damn much. It's basically megaglest with a new face but don't be put off the gameplay is much better.

I can't decide if I like this or wz2100 more…

I might contact playdeb about supporting this though.

 No.1174[Reply]

Hey /lv/, I've just made the jump to fully free software. Thing is, I've got quite the extensive Steam library.

Now, I am part of the libre movement for the ethics, so I want to know:

Is the most Stallman-y thing to do to crack the DRM off the Steam games? Is that even feasible?

I suppose I could pirate the games, but I'd feel more comfortable cracking them, you know? I feel like having a libre system shouldn't necessitate breaking the law, there are other ways to get around what big coporations want you to do without making yourself succeptable to incrimination.

Thanks, guys.

I know that its common to do that, but I always thought that is too tiring to reboot your computer each time you want to play. The Linux library is big today.

Encryption is bad for performance, but only during disk reads. You're just going to load in a bit slower and you probably won't notice the difference if your CPU isn't from 1992.

That looks nice.

 No.1655

Shattered pixel dungeon is a fan project to advance the gameplay. The pixel dungeon game is basically finished, minus bug fixes. Shattered pixel attempts to add more stuff and tweak gameplay, usually to make it harder for those who play it too often.

Vanilla is actually very easy, when you started to understand some of the game mechanics. First pic related, it's my highscore on the 1.7.2-PC-Version (which I admit is much easier because the items don't wear off).

I never used this service, so I'm curious. It seems to have a GPL'ed client application? https://github.com/desura/desura-app So it's alright to use this for purchasing libre games? It seems to be owned by a company which calls itself "Bad Juju Games" since only a few months now, are these guys alright?

And then next question: What are some libre vidya that I can get on Desura? Is there any way to easily see the license when browsing games or sort for license?

There's no FreeBSD binary package and the ports makefile is broken, checking out the current git now, hopefully it'll work.

Seems interesting but I had to dig in deep into their wiki to find what the minimum requirements were.

>At a minimum, you'll need a machine which is capable of running the Doom 3 game on comfortably high settings.

As someone who hasn't played doom 3 this isn't very helpful but at least it's a decent ballpark that tells me I can't run it. I'm just glad I didn't download gigs of data just to know for sure I couldn't play it.

My laptop is from 2006 so no it won't. Even if Doom 3 worked fine in Windows on this laptop(and it probably does) the Intel GMA drivers on Linux are so terrible it's not even worth trying out. I'm never using Intel hardware again after this experience with them, their support of FLOSS is all show with no substance behind it.

This is just a doom3 mod so it shouldn't bee too difficult. Just need to use an updated doom3. Will work it out soon and come back with instructions, or maybe just a package.
