 No.175

http://www.thedarkmod.com/main/

The Dark Mod is a FREE, first-person stealth game inspired by the original Thief series by Looking Glass Studios. In it you play a hooded figure slinking through the shadows of a gothic steampunk city, hunting priceless valuables while avoiding the swords and arrows of those hired to stop you.

 No.208

I found the licensing information: https://svn.thedarkmod.com/svn/darkmod_src/trunk/LICENSE.txt it seems to be some kind of BSD/GPL/etc. mix. not completely copyleft.

assets are all cc-by-nc-sa so that's nice.

 No.209

Shit, this actually looks pretty cool. I'll have to check it out

Yeah, all licenses are at least permissive but only the GPL is enforcing distribution of source.

As is, full source is currently provided but it appears they could just distribute certain parts in binary only if they so pleased. Good to be aware of, never know when people are going to turn coat and try sneaky shit.

Has anyone got this working 64bit? Fuck 32bit, that's just stupid.

I just tried to access that and it requires a password. Why am I locked out?

 No.511

>>507

Here you go brother. It's a lockout for me too. http://a.pomf.se/vbzmog.txt

It's GPL and BSD. The other three licenses should be self explanatory: curl, polarSSL and boost.

 No.513

Seems interesting but I had to dig in deep into their wiki to find what the minimum requirements were.

>At a minimum, you'll need a machine which is capable of running the Doom 3 game on comfortably high settings.

As someone who hasn't played doom 3 this isn't very helpful but at least it's a decent ballpark that tells me I can't run it. I'm just glad I didn't download gigs of data just to know for sure I couldn't play it.

doom 3 came out in 2005 so it will run just fine on your toaster

My laptop is from 2006 so no it won't. Even if Doom 3 worked fine in Windows on this laptop(and it probably does) the Intel GMA drivers on Linux are so terrible it's not even worth trying out. I'm never using Intel hardware again after this experience with them, their support of FLOSS is all show with no substance behind it.

This is just a doom3 mod so it shouldn't bee too difficult. Just need to use an updated doom3. Will work it out soon and come back with instructions, or maybe just a package.
