I wasn't saying there is anything wrong with it, I'm saying it's dumb. The source doesn't include assets. You would still have to obtain a full copy of the game, or at least the assets. It's simply annoying and easily circumvented. The point is moot anyway seeing as he is distributing the reg code, see http://lunduke.com/how-to-contribute/

You happen to know a compiler on linux that compiles realbasic?

Also, it is generally accepted that a source package has something equivalent of a ./configure file or a Makefile, or at least an INSTALL file which explains how said code is to be compiled. Including data assets or linking to a repo with said assets is not a strange thing to do in linux-release land
