>>337the wads(doom.wad, doomu.wad, doom2.wad, the team TNT iwads and the wads for the full versions of heretic, hexen and strife) are considered proprietary assets and thus are non free. iirc, the hacx wad can be legally redistributed nowadays, but I don't remember if its explicitly libre.
tl;dr redistributing id's wads is piracy.
the freedoom project has released two wads that serve as 1:1 asset replacements for ultimate doom and doom2, and are specifically intended to allow running doom mods with a libre iwad. these can be redistributed, and since most mods are based on doom2 assets, freedom's doom2 asset replacer should work in most situations.
>>350there's a fork of chocolatedoom called crispy doom that allows for high resolution (real hires, not that scaling shit like in normal choco doom). it also allows for vertical aiming, but that can be disabled. otherwise, its basically chocolate doom.
