This update has been a polishing update, with a new feature aswell:
Oil ocean mutator: you can now set oil level, if near the vapour level of
the oil, enflamed things will spread fire on the oil. The rate is settable
by cvar, currently set to a global max of 10 spreads per second, a per-entity
think interval of 2 seconds, and a 30 percent chance of deciding to spread
per think interval (0.1, 2, 0.3);
Bugfixes for mines: A bug that has been in xonotic for along time (since
it had mines) has been defeated. The bug was that if a mine was following
(ie attached to a vehicle or mover etc) something and that something dissappeared
the mine would then unfollow it and just stay static. Now for map movers of
the map this might have been fine, their coords are global (IIRC, might be wrong).
For sticking to vehicles, trees, etc, this caused the mine to appear
at 0 0 0+ offset origin, which made life there troubling. When the minelayer
was added there weren't many (or any?) vehicles in xon, and no foliage system/mutator
so testing wasn't done for that. Now the mines (minelayer, landmine, atmine)
if they lose what they're following/attached to remove themselves in 0.1 time.
Bot ai code work: bots know how to throw grenades, drop mines, bury mines if
grenades and mines are enabled. This includes flashbangs and smoke grenades.
Some Gimp work, creating an oil texture and adding it to the caethaver2 tex pack.
,norm map for a wall used in sideloop map, etc.
Misc Updates (ex: to bury a mine press J (it must be on ground/snow/grass/dirt/etc).

Anyone even played it yet? I'll admit it looks like an impressive amount of work went into this. It looks like almost every conceivable game play crammed into one mod. The only thing it's severely lacking is beating each other to death with dildos, which is kind of a deal breaker for me. So should the developer happen to see this, dildo mode when?

you can more easily build multi story duengons/castles.

Ak's have been moved to button 6 for selection from button 3.
What you can do with the new stuff: build a futuristic base with an "energy"
drawbridge that can be toggled by pressing F in the center control area
of a control bridge section. Remeber to lock-down the area with garrisions
or control bases so the other team may not build their own control bridge
buildings. Also remember the multitool lockz commands to make building
easier. Build a hightensionwire tower for sniping or placing cannon on
(remeber to set multitool blocktype so you may build buildings upon buildings
if you wish to do this). Build a multistory castle of your own design with
vaults, stairs, interior walls and doors, and furnishings aswell. Build these
around your flag base to make capture very difficult.
Equip uzi to feel like the Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator if you wish aswell.
Remeber, this game is fully free, libre, etc. Code and media. Enjoy!
The utilitool and multitool are what you use to build. A hammer or kiduchi to construct from the scaffolds. Check out all the options in the input menu for commands to use.

Similar to the utilitool's security building in function. You can jail players if you have the shackles weapon.

Note: Make sure to us gmqcc to compile the QC game code (only use fteqcc for the menu.dat (ie: compile, then move /data/menu.dat to ~/stuff/ then make clean, then make with gmqcc, then mover menu.dat back, gmqcc (atleast the version I use) doesn't respect any language other than english, while fteqcc can compile the menu-language things and for checking correct code: fteqcc catches things that gmqcc doesn't, however fteqcc doesn't generate quite correct game code, gmqcc does. With fteqcc there are compile bugs that introduce bugs in the weapon system (you'll be appearing with weapons you shouldnt).

Last time I ran a 24/7 server people tried to hack it, specifically people from one of the geek-feminism type forums (their ip matched the apache logs of a forum avatar that I only posted there (symlink)) (directory listing was off).
Today I or my friends start up a server and we tell eachother the IP addy, we don't list it on the xonotic list server. (sv_public 0). When we're done we turn it off. I do this for all my computers: when not in use, they're off.

The bots are pretty capable (lordhavoc originally coded them). To their capabilities I've added things as I've added new features. They'll fist fight you if they have no weapons, they'll use grenades, they'll drop and bury mines etc (For players: b to bury, v to select grenade type, g to throw grenade/drop mine. mines can be buried in sand/grass/snow/dirt/etc)
You can set weapon start options via the button in create.
Could you or someone else make an initial post to /v/ like was done here? Last time I tried they didn't allow tor, I'll try again though.

The idea to do the fork was so that people could get my maps. During the nexuiz years, div0 made a package/iso/fork of nexuiz with all my maps called Offendix. I figured it was time for a reprive. Also in the intirm years I had, with help from div0, lordhavoc, tzork, samual, and grey, learned QuakeC.
div0 was always helpful, and still when I am stuck I can go to the irc server and ask for help and he'll walk me though (like with the weapon system macros).
So since I had the ability to map, texture, make music, 3d model, and code in QC, I figured I could do it.
Div0 suggested the name based on the old chaos-UT mod for UT99, with it's many weapons.
Also another thread in the path was my fastweapons.cfg for nexuiz and then xonotic. I didn't like how the weapons were like pillows. I liked the gameplay of TrueCombat:Elite for EnemyTerritory. So I made nexuiz like that.
The spot where I forked was when headshots were removed from xonotic and samual rewrote alot of the internal message passing for no determinable reason. Xonotic was founded around October 2009 (First public release in 2010). The creation of Xonotic was spurred on by two forces. The first cause was the continuing removal of various weapons and features by the Nexuiz lead developer Lord Havoc. Here two weapons, the HLAC (heavy laser assault cannon), and the Tag Seeker (homing rockets) were removed because the project lead wanted to keep the weapon number at nine. This created a feeling of insecurity amongst the junior developers where one was never sure if the work they had slaved over for months would one day be ripped out of the code and thrown to the side as if refuse for one reason or another. The second cause was the sale of the Nexuiz trademark to the Illfonic crew.
The fork of Nexuiz into Xonotic was spearheaded by divverent, Z, morphed, mrbougo, and various others. Divverent was asked to fork Nexuiz by a number of mappers and code developers once the Illfonoc purchase of the name was finalized (sold by Vermillion), though murmurings of a fork of Nexuiz had been heard for two years prior. Over the summer of 2009 divverent, morphed, and various unnamed contributors conspired with each other on the topic of a media fork of nexuiz with limited code patches such as the addition of the removed weapons. Talk eventually trended towards a full fork of Nexuiz into an extended project.
There were various controversies at the very beginning of Xonotic that made a fork of it, too, inevitable. At the start it was decided that Xonotic would support all the maps and textures of Nexuiz. Instead Xonotic would strip out the Nexuiz player characters, depreciate the nexuiz textures (with an eye towards removal), and remove all the Nexuiz maps. It was also suggested to bring some of the most prolific mappers (and some of their better maps) into the xonotic project. Including mappers who asked for the forking of Nexuiz in the first place, such as mikeeusa. However this was decided against because of the social beliefs of said content creators in some cases (example: anti-feminist, pro-girl-child marriage (example: support for social structures in Afghanistan)), and in other cases because their content style was not in the ever-narrowing purview of the new project.
Though off to a good start in its first two years, xonotic development has largely stalled in recent times.
In 2012 the influence of a single developer known by the nickname Samual had grown to a degree where he had a stranglehold on the project. All decisions had to pass through him, and his answer was usually,if not always, no. Then near May 2012 Samual made a sweeping change in the xonotic quake c code involving the rewrite of the message passing code. This convinced some projects that were tracking the xonotic git repo to break off altogether. Since that time most code changes have been of the make-work variety, such as to highlight official servers above all others, and very few new features have been added. Feature development has moved towards modifications and forks of Xonotic.
There are various modifications and forks of Xonotic, some of which extend and improve the game greatly. These modifications and forks include: Tzork's Vehicle Mod, Overkill[1], Defense of The Core[2], and Chaosesque Anthology[3].

Once I converted to linux I put those on the shelf. They were not libre. I pined for a 3d game I could work on.
In the meantime I worked on maps for Crossfire RPG (made a fork eventually: crossfire-extended).
Then BZFlag. BZFlag required new textures to be hosted on their servers. Seemed fine at first. I made some maps using a text editor. Was fun. 3d. Etc. Then I got in an argument with the devs and to punish me they deleted my textures so my maps wouldn't look correct.
I wanted to hurt them. I pray they die before their time.

to move alongside your tanks, a missle attack raptor variant to destroy enemy

Various fixes and improvements (such as: imprisoned players, if respawning imprisoned
will not spawn with grenades, ammo, armor, etc. Only health, mana, etc. Spiderbot
now can reload rockets from your stores, etc).
Tank Resists: tanks no resist most small arms fire and incidental damage up to
90% above and beyond the normal vehicle resists and any specific resists.
Explosives and nukes do full damage. High caliber weapons also do high damage.
Low calibers do almost no damage to tanks, no do other damages such as energy, etc.
(The following only applies to developers and modders:)
Note: Build with GMQCC if you are compiling. (Only really use FTEQCC for the menu qc,
and to check code once in awhile). If you are using FTEQCC you'll need to increase
some of it's maxes (otherwise you'll get a "Too many types" error no,
since the code has out grown it: MAX_FUNCTIONS, maxtypeinfos
in fteqcc/qccmain.c . You can double them from 16384 to 32768 and the code will
compile fine.

ChaosEsque Anthology is crap. It is a standalone modification of Xonotic which includes extended weapons, maps, vehicles, buildable buildings, mounted weapons, spell casting, monsters, player characters, textures, and game modes. It would like to be a first person shooter, but since nobody is playing it, it is more of a minecraft thing.
It has over 100 shitty maps. Some pretend to be futuristic, some are ancient (really), and some are medieval (from a level design perspective). A few evoke platform games such as sonic, others follow a style more akin to diablo. Some are static maps, others are randomly connected.
There is something to fit your mood. There are mutators that can add mounted weapons in any map, buildings, monsters, foliage, hazards, and even balloons and bumpers. You can fight with futuristic weapons, medieval weapons, and /or hand to hand combat (over 70 weapons). There are also many vehicles (and a mutator to spawn them in maps that do not have them, as is tradition (as you can see)).
You can also set each team to start with different specific weapons if you want to test a theory that you could defeat a well equipped military force with your bolt action rifle or crossbow. Same with vehicles and mounted weapons spawning (you can set which spawn near which team in CTF etc). You can drink wine, potions, learn magic, read scrolls, so on and so forth.
The goal, and much of this has been reached, is to not limit the player.

Yes. Darkplaces engine is a fork of the GPL'd quake 1 engine. Then Lord Havoc added some more features over the years: better coloured lighting support, real time lighting, then bump mapping, normal mapping, gloss mapping, HalfLife1 map support added, limits raised, then Quake 3 map support, then client side quake C, and then others helped and added software rendering, 3d anaglyph support, LOD for curves, ever more model format support, then IQM model format was invented, more work was done on gtkradiant as netradiant, and blender was improving aswell and was freed during this time, FTEQcc was freed, improved, and then GMQCC was written recently.
On the QuakeC side Nexuiz was originally intended to be a halflife 1 mod, but then used the Darkplaces as the engine, nexuiz became standalone, convinced others to open-source their texture assets and maps, released as GPL, was improved for 5 years, released v 1, continued for 5 more years, was forked to Xonotic (the main contributors at that point did so, I had been asking Div0 to fork for a year at that point because Nexuiz was taking out features/weapons, the hammer fell with the illfonic buying out the name of Nexuiz tho), Xonotic gathered and created more art assets. Chaosesque forked 3 years after.
I was making maps since 2008 for nexuiz. Then some light quakeC for Nexuiz (trigger_health), continued on for xonotic, Div0 in the Nexuiz days made a nexuiz distro for my maps called "Offendix", once the mods of the Xonotic forum were deleting my threads announcing releasing new maps (cbrutali and maybe mr bougo were the forum mods at that time) I decided to do another distro just like Div0 did. At this time I had been doing a good deal of QC and posting the diffs to the bug tracker. I consulted with Div0 on what the name of the mod/fork should be. Chaosesque was chosen as to give a nod to ChaosUT of old UT99 and Unreal before them, and since I had been adding weapons.

I have been following your progress for a long time in a lot of places.
1. Your game lacks in game tutorials, it feels like a proof of concept, not an actual game. Part of this is that you are making an old school DM shooter in a time when people are used to corridor shooters, but part of it is that It is incomplete, and it is unclear how to proceed at any given time.
2 The asset quality is also wildly divergent, with some textures looking a decade older than other textures. For the building models, yes, compiled in decent lighting would take up too much space per model, only have 2.8mb left on DVD.
Dynamic lighting can make it look good, also fakelighting aswell, you can enable or use them if you wish.

The title screen etc hasn't been changes as that would be disengenuous: It's Xonotic, but a mod of it.

The menu theme should be black and orange (default xonotic is blue).
Go to multiplayer -> create. There should be 100 or so maps. Choose one. Also there are some optios like colorwar, where people you kill are put on your team or get your colors. Click on mutators to set some new options, startweapons, etc. There's lots of options.
In single player there are other map-ladders in addition to the nexuiz and xontic ones.

Todays update was the following:
Modeled and added additional highrise building for the sc_tiles city generating mutator. Its colormap is set to be randomly picked for each on of this particular building, to give a nice view to your skyline.
(all buildings have interiors)
Generator placed medeval and futuristic buildings now given random colormap (roof, windows etc) by way of setting the worldspawn colormap to something.
Generator's avoidance of placing buildings on roads etc you have in your map has improved. You can set the rigor at which it checks (1 by default, can be set as high as 4)
Buildings can now be set to have their angle as the angle of the surface they have been placed by the generator, so you can have an interesting "after earthquake" effect. Same for spikes and tanktraps.
This all took way longer to code then it should have. A quakeC master would have had it doen in 5 min. I had to trial-and-error fix things for hours. Ohwell. Feature is in.

I've never done it from scratch, only Lord Havoc I think has. It just involves coding QuakeC.
(But that "Just" requires years of effort :P).
Darkplaces can load both quake one and quake 3 maps, so you can use curves. It uses normal maps, gloss (spectral) maps, for textures (along with the color maps). It supports client side quake C aswell.
All of these things really take alot of time, but if you read the QuakeC tutorials, the aren't per-se hard.
Some people have expressed negative opinions of Nexuiz/Xonotic quakeC coding style (saying it is too complex), this shows that QC is flexible enough these days to do things in various fastions.
To make a FPS you could simply take the GPLd Quake1 QC source code and work from there, or use Nexuiz/Xonotic or deriviatives.
The model formats supported are: IQM (easy to export from blender, fully supports anything you'd want to do (it's a modern format). DPM (Dark Places Model), MD3, I think MD5, MDL, OBJ. And there's one more, it was used in valve games and supports alot of things.
One note, atleast on integrated cards, you probably want to keep your exported model under 1.3MB I've found, they start to choke beyond that (must be some buffer being exausted ?)
If you want to make massive terrain maps you can model them in netradiant, use Img2Map and then open that .map in gtkradiant, and you can just model in miniature if you go over the 32768QUnit netradiant editor limit and then –scale the compiled bsp to what you want it to be.
(Another option probably is to hacking on the editor to increase the limit, it's not a limit of the engine, just seemingly the editor).

I started in mapping (simcity 2000/streets of simcity/simcopter, orig in 1997 for Unreal, same in Xon, started in mapping).
Then I did mapping for crossfireRPG, and then making pixel art, and then scripting.
At the same time I was doing some perl scripting, making some games in that for console)
Eventually nexuiz mapping (a return to the Unreal and UT days which I feared

Check in (in the zzzz9999.pk3)(data/)fastweapons.cfg to see the cvars for various weapons.
Also the various balance configs (the Xonotic default one)
Also there is a variable you can set to affect all weapons, I'll need to search for it.
You can make your own additional .cfg and put in in /autoexec to be auto executed.
I think if it is later in the alphabet, named, it will be executed after, or
you could edit chaosesquesomething.cfg in autoexec/ and add
exec mycfg.cfg as the last line.
CEA has added coreshot (headshot was allready in xon) for chest shots with

You can now set foliage, monsters, different buiding types to one side of the map (closest to red or blue etc base) when playing team games.
Thus if you want to have one side a technological wonderland with highrises, tanks, etc etc (like japan), and the otherside overflowing with verdant forests, medeval buildings, dragons and other creatures, but no vehicles to be seen and only primitiveness.
And then you wish to attack that side (or attempt to defend it) with your Japan.

I guess a few back, maybe skip 5 releases, add, skip another, add, etc. (or 10 releases). I've always found archives useful when the project messes up something or deletes something you go back and get that file from an older version (and back in it goes).

They've failed on me.
I was using an intel in the laptop, ran out of power (battery). Next day the SSD = 0 bytes and cannot be mounted.

SSDs just aren't safe for laptops etc.

I suggest running the xonotic-blablabla-linux-glx.sh (alternatively you can just run the xonotic-linux-64-glx (or sdl) binaries).
If that doesn't work and you don't want to compile the engine (in darkplaces.zip) for your architecture you can download and run any darkplaces/xonotic binary, copy that over, and run that.
It's very difficult to release linux binaries that run on all distros. Even glib is often incompatable beyond a few versions :(.
If none of that works and you don't want to compile you can run the win versions under wine.

Make install isn't needed in this case, just copy the binary to the XonoticChaosEsqueAnthology/ folder (where the rest of them are), or symlink it, or whatever you wish. (usually I symlink from XonoticBla/darkplaces/darkplaces-glx to XonoticBla/XonoticLinux64glx )

Today's programming included adding 2 new spells: HolyWord and StoneRain. Also added a check to LigtiningStrike to make sure target is not protected by the map (ie is outdoors, open to the skybox).
HolyWord kills undead around you, heals non-undead (like an area effect holy bolt, expensive tho in mana and cool down (7 sec before you can cast magic again).
StoneRain is stone rain. Damages and then destroys wooden buildings and farms, 60 dmg for any person/creature the stone rain hits. Area affected is based on level, aswell as for how long the stones rain down (level*2)
(Also available in the zzzzz9999pk3 uploaded in addition to git)

Already had that idea, and that existed before mount an blade (existed in an old game where you created your own creature to fight with… eventually everyone put the "brain" in the middle with just arms around it). That would require extensive coding in the skeletal animation portion of the engine which I cannot do. I requested this years ago of the engine and was told no. I don't know enough about the engine code to do it myself.

It's very popular, definitely one of the most active games currently which is what you want from a multiplayer focused game. This thread alone gets more attention than the rest of the board which says a lot.
As a player, I like it a lot and think it's a great game. I do think however the game types could do with some pre-sets/default options. Also I think the melee weapons and spells should have their own game type with medieval/gothic style maps. Just my two cents.

Presets are a good idea. It's possible to make cfgs for the game and have a button in the menu read them. I'd make one for regular (none), medeval and magic (would set weaponreplace to 12 so all medeval, diff starting weapon, and give starting mana) maybe some others. Don't know where in the menu the buttons should go (multiplayer->create?)
If you want to play all medeval, go to mutators and find the replaceweapons slider (under delete weapons) and set it to 12 (medeval weaps and scrolls) or 11 (medi weaps only) and go to start weapons button, desekukect pistol, and select some medeval weaps.
In the start weapons screen as of now (in git and uploading the zzzzz9999 pk3) the medeval, futuristic, regular etc weapons are color coded so you can pick them out easier.
Also there is now max inventory (by default it's 500, if set to 0 it is unlimited). Weapons are 40 each, rockets 2 each, bullets 0.1 each etc. There is a slider in Create->Advanced to set the max inventory. So by default you can have 12 weaps, or a mix of weaps, books, scrolls, ammo total in your inventory.
(To drop stuff press backspace for weaps, or in console do : drop rockets , nails, cells, etc, to free up space)
There are a few maps that have a medeval flair: KrillDonjon, DesertCastles, FrankishTowers Marbleness, OpposingCastles, Darkhold.
Id like to make a cool gothic cathedral one day. Darkhold is a duengon crawl, if you want to start from the overworld and invade the duengon go into Create-Advance and enable Questspawns

Todays work: If you press F+Backspace you will drop some ammo of the weapon you are using (thus you don't have to use the drop command to get rid of excess ammo/give friend ammo) (Backspace is drop weapon, F is the use key (pickup, open some doors etc))
Cancellation spell's radius is affected by it's level.

This is a pretty big release code wise, it adds the ability to make the gameplay
more "diablo like" or "quest like"
The new Item options are in the mutators button/menu and all next to eachother
near Pinata so you can quickly set the options if you want to play a quest,
the maxlives option is in the same column (Multiplayer>Create>Mutators, first column)
Players that die but have expended their maxlives (if set) and disconnect
and then reconnect still will be at maxlives and won't beable to respawn
(uses the code for stonecurse, permblind, etc in qcsrc/server/cl_client.qc)
(only negatives are recorded there, if you leave the game you lose your
positives (inventory etc))
This allows you to set up a game where one is not cavalier.

Nope. Policy is to never remove a feature. That is why I originally asked Divverent to fork Nexuiz (DP was removing features), and partially why I eventually made a branch Xonotic (xonotic generally was pro-more features but eventually the statue polishers won out).
You have to understand, I do not need to focus. I have more time than all of you combined it seems. That's why I have over 80 weapons. 30 spells, more than 50 maps I made myself. I can focus on one thing for some months, flesh it out, then code another thing. :)

The project doesn't solicit contributions. Xonotic was brought down (or slowed) by debates and committees. However, there are things one can do if one want's to add to the world of ChaosEsque:
Maps are always a great thing to add (ISO contains the netradiant map editor with win binaries (and source, and linux bins in a zip).
(Supplemental DVD has zips for macOSX etc)
No need to place foliage either as ChaosEsque has a foliage system (check the .mapinfo file of, say, dastower.pk3/maps/ (it's a zip so you can just explore it) for examples of what options to enable to have it on.
(Note: if we include new maps it will have to be on a second DVD iso as the 1st one is completely filled up almost, and SF.net's mirrors don't allow files over that size, really doing alot of tricks lately to keep size down (symlinks inside zipfiles etc))
A website might be cool, maintained by someone other than us (as you can see by our "website" (which doesn't exist).
*If someone would model wikipe-tan (the girl) as an libre player model that would be cool (game supports 2 additional levels of detail for clientside models (lod0,lod1,lod2), erebus.blend and pyra,blend in the media source has the standard xonotic skeletion if one wishes to use that (don't have to)**
(Really would like this, wikipe-tan is cute and an OSS mascot)

I don't want the session crashing QC errors that I fixed in xonotic to come back. Everything is hand merged and tested. Testing takes up atleast 1/2 the time of any coding session, sometimes more.
It's a .git based project so if you're feeling on adding code, fork the .git, (or just work from the qcsrc in zzzzzzz9999999bla.pk3 like the old nexuiz days: that's fine too) make some new files in the qcsrc (a new folder if it's a totally new thing/concept I guess (like how monsters, vehicles, tturetts are in sep folders)), and then what is done is every few months we look at eachothers git and take what we like.
All contribs are libre/libre including media.

There are DVD sleeves for DVD boxes you can print out (glossy paper is best, glossy laserjet paper is cheaper and works fine in any inkjet I've used), aswell as DVD-Disc labels here:

Release 72: New weapon: SKS Rifle.
New Features: Friend system: if the server admin allows it (g_allow_friends, or click the button in "advanced" menu under create match) you may set other players as a friend when executing the "friend" command while looking at other player (within range). Friends may (in non-team games) enter your doors, and your turrets you build and your soliders you recruit will not attack the friend. In team games only team mates are allowed to be friended. It is mainly a feature for non team games.
New feature2: Map Torches etc are given dynamic light when the skycycles mutator is enabled (as are starburst entities) (can be disabled g_skycycles_nodynamiclight). Quake1 map entity of trap_shooter etc now supported so quake 1 maps will be more complete if played (for quake3 compiled maps use misc_fire_crossbowbolt (0-19 different emissions) as it has more options (see spikerailpath map for example).

The git repos are linked to on the sf.net chaosesque anthology project page (see first post). You know how to clone them. SF has a page on it. They don't contain the maps (nor does the xonotic-vanilla git repos). You have to either DL the ISO to get everything or DL the maps one by one from here:

Public key can be obtained from PUBLIC KEY BLOCK text or from keyserver if you have key ID or email to search with. You don't have to use keyservers at all. Those are mostly for lookups by email address. But nothing stops you from using Tor to submit key (Worrying about revealing IP? You can setup iptables to drop outgoing traffic from programs not running under specific user group and then run program needing internet access with "sudo -g that_group command". Take a look on module "owner"). Keep in mind, anyone can submit any data, so you should provide fingerprint for YOUR key. Also removal of keys is usually impossible.

Depends on your computer and input data. Few minutes for large files, that's not a bitcoin mining.
How it's done:
gpg –detach-sign –armor file_to_be_signed
after that asc file will be produced. You will need to provide asc file for downloads, users they can verify integrity of file with "gpg –verify file.asc" if they have your public key in keyring.
Private key needs to stay private, it even might be "offline" (that's a good reason to burn disks). Always use strong passphrase. Set key to expire in few years (you will be able to sign your new key with old key if expiration date comes close). And have backup of private key, "I lost my secret key" is not acceptable in PGP world.

Depends on what you call "trail". Actually it is a goal of signing, recipient (player downloading new releases) must be able to verify origin (real developer) of file. You know, it is anonymous imageboard, sometimes you have reason to resort to tripfagging. For software development "tripfagging" with actual cryptography matters a lot. Expecially if your project is subject to censorship. You must be able to lead your users to new download sites if your current place (lgdb and malwareforge) gets compromised. MD5 can't offer things as signed messages. It is only a error control.

For case if you wanna sign something else - you can have as many secret keys as you wish. And it is you who decide what information to release in that way. Not asking you to sign up for social network or bs like that. Just provide way to verify that's your code, not someone's else. Oh yeah, git commits can be signed too! I just popped in /lv/ to say that I fucking love this game/mod. I DLed it after seeing it being mentioned on /v/ and it just sucks me in, all that variety of weapons, player models, maps and mutators to choose from is delicious. It has been a long while since I had this much fun playing it last night against bots, made myself comfy and got some snacks cola to chug along as I played and scored long killstreaks, so fucking fun. The only beef I have with this is performance issues, my frames really drop when there are lits of projectiles on screen, I'm playing it on medium gfx settings with bots and monsters running around and the fps sometimes drops from 50 to 16 when that mortar grenade launcher gun gets used, I'm using an I5, 8gb ram and gtx750ti, if the issue is my PC feel free to say so. Good job on this, man, damn good job.

The mortar grenade acts as a fragmentation grenade (for realism's sake). The amount of fragments and the time it takes to release them can be changed though via the following settings:

It is probably the secondary that's causing the issue as it releases 500 fragments over the course of 12 frames. One can either expand the number of frames or reduce the fragment number.

You can also save your settings to you .xonotic/data/config.cfg if you find one you like best.
The fragment spawning is cpu bound I think, for whatever reason, or it might be network bound. Over a certain number persecond there is a slowdown, depending on computer.

All you need to verify someone's signature or send encrypted message is public key. 2. The people who don't enjoy your game seem less concerned with you and more concerned with the improvement of your game, albeit to their own definitions of "good". As such, they're more blunt in their criticisms, and it's understandable why anyone wouldn't take it well.
3 (and this is the reason for my initial comment). You harbor an incredible disdain towards these people, as you brand them without fail as SJW while dispelling them like garbage. Again, I understand why you wouldn't take their words well, and they may be harsh in their words, but I feel like some of the things they say are not without merit.
I did not intend to jerk you off here. I also did not intend to insult you. The fact is, I feel more pressure to either enjoy your game and praise you for it, or simply fuck off. These people seem to be either 1) Users mainly of proprietary videogames only
or 2) Professional developers.
The first class have expectations about the look of a game, but have no
experiance producing any of it. They want everything polished or else they'll
not donate their 0 dollars to grace the program with their use of it.
If their desires were attempted to be met the game would be 90GB in size, as every
weapon, area, etc would have it's very own unique texturemap and dirt map
(rather than using materials), and would take 90 years to complete.
It's just not feasable for an libre project which has a large scope.
The 2nd group sees no problem with narrowing the scope of the project, and
infact demands it.
Neither can get it through their head (or they simply choose to ignore the fact)
that the game is not made for their approval: no libre project is:
it is made for whatever purpouse the developers of the libre project
have for it and it is released on the off chance that others might also
benifit or extend it.
These two groups just happen to be full of people who oppose men marrying
girl children (they oppose the stated proclaimations of the God of the book
of Deutronomy), they accept into their minds whatever beliefs they are given.

This project is modeled as an old-school libre project, absolute refusal
to consider the point of view of those not-working on the project was a
cornerstone of successful libre development for most of the existance
of the Free Software movement. Caring about users is very recent and is
beyond the scope of this project. Caring about non-users even more distant.
Past the mid 2000s this way of development started to be supplanted, but
this project holds fast to the older way of development. Can't be all things
to all people: can be everything the actual devs want it to be.
That's the key to a good libre project.
Going one step furthur, this project doesn't solicit contributions, nor
has any way for contributions to be contributed. I've seen a good many
projects stagnated by committie (nexuiz AND xonotic included), so there
is none of that here. And there doesn't need to be: this is a git project
so we can all easily make our own branches and then hand-patch in things
we like from each of our branches (always hand patch).
That doesn't mean you cannot enjoy the game. Play it, build maps, build
textures. Everything is available to you. This project just doesn't
lie to your face about what concrete value others have to it: people
that just use it are just using it, people that aren't even doing that
aren't in the universe at all.

It just simply does not matter what you like or do not like.
This project is a train that is not stopping: there is no way for the man
standing on the platform to make changes to the moving train, or contribute
a new train car, or remove cars from the running train.
He can only clone a new train (which includes all of said train) and do what
he wants with that. The first train will continue to grow without external input,
and may clone pieces of the 2nd train once in awhile, but there is just no
thought given to what any man standing on the platform is doing or wanting,
nor of what other trains are doing.
Long story short: This is a traditional libre project:
It's to scratch a developer's itch, not to make users happy.
Users may be happy and can do whatever they want with it, ofcourse.
Some may be unhappy: they are told to change their copy however they wish.
The proper mode of development is to work on what you're interested in for a year
or so, and release it all the time, and then maybe you and the other guys
hand-merge eachother's work into each of your projects/trees.
No man can have more than one master, and neither can a project, it really
has to be all one-man shows for each component. Comittie doesn't work,
and "collaboration" becomes a committie once 3 are collaborating (in my
experiance and observation).

If I nitpicked (detailed) every map I would have very few, and really,
I like to have more fighting areas than a few very detailed areas.
I made them by the whim of what I wanted to make, and eventually
one gets tired of it, and moves on to the next map, though sometimes
I come back. The aim isn't to make a polished "product" to sell
to a user. It's for myself to have fun building a structure I could never
afford to build IRL, and to shoot and have battles in.
SpaceLoop, for instance, is somewhat detailed. Even that amount took forever.
Building a room in netradiant vs actually going to the store, buying the materials,
and building it IRL… takes almost the same time.. All day either way.
Both are pretty fun. In netradiant built rooms you can shoot eachother…
actual rooms actually exist.. I do some sometimes and the others other times.
It takes forever either way :P
The commercial devs can just go hire people and order them around
to add detail. But just think of a good looking crate, that one thing

Now, portions can be filled out: ie more medeval weaps and buildings and vehicles and mounted weapons so that portion of the game feels "full" and right in our minds, and then more futuristic buildings and weaps and vehicles so that too feels "full", and the same for modern such things. So there is a full complement for each style of thing so our mind is not bothered.
But polishing, that is not really a thing for this game: Nethack is polished and wonderful but cannot expand its scope thusly, this might try to approach nethack featurwise but will always desire to be chock full of more and more stuff: a 3d universe you can do as you wish in rather than a solid carving.
Xonotic and Nexuiz before it wanted to be polished masterpieces, but what is a masterpiece once one has seen it*? One moves on to the next work.
(*Celing of the Sistine chapel excepted, can stare at that forever, but it has so many components…)

This would be beyond the scope of the project. The game, due to the engine,
(the engine is quite good: Thanks LH, Div0, etc)
runs on OS X, Windows, Linux, etc, so cannot bind itself to any one desktop
enviroment. Something that wouldn't be beyond the scope of the game would be:
in-game computers and things like that, but to go outside of the game world and
affect the host computer would be beyond the scope and also might cause security
vulns. For security reasons, the engine doesn't allow any writing of files
outside of the current game dir (ie ~/.xonotic/data/ by default, though you can
set multiple game dirs, then it can only write to the last one but can read from all)

2 new spells: Phantasmal Barrier, Raise Undead (if players or humanoid non-undead monsters have been killed in the vicinty, you can raise zombies).
Added a staff of flame and a magicians staff (weapons): if wielded while casting correct type of spell it decreases refire time and decreases mana use.
Ability to increase in spell level via use.
