Lovecraft wouldn't be a terrible starting point. Having more risk come to wearing armor would be sorta neat. Delta sorta had it.

Imagine having a technical powerup summoning a monster for a minute bent on eating you. For the minute that it's chasing you, you've essentially got a 30 ton wrecking ball behind you.

Lovecraft and Kamen Rider are tough mix w/o watering down the Lovecraft's "You don't win and evil doesn't lose" message. Elric Saga might be something a little easier to mix in.

The designs would also be troublesome since the Lovecraft monster physics/biology is awkward in execution and has acute diminishing returns.

I'm not hating. I like both, but it'd be a factor to consciously keep in mind since the original thread felt like Kamen Rider sprinkled w/name dropping and visuals.

Rider motivation tends to stay within revenge/justice. While using fear is problematic, it would vaguely be more in line with Lovecraft material despite conflicting w/the whole powerless in the face of the unknown theme.

Imagine a fear activated belt. The mc stomps some grunts and starts building confidence, resulting in the belt beginning to fail. B/c his identity is known, he has to continually seek out stronger opponents just to stay alive. It's not perfect. You can always argue that the gradual paranoia of losing the belt and loss of individuality should allow him to use the belt like any other KR, but it could be neat to toy with.

Spirits isn't by him. Spirits is a big crossover fanservice comic done years after his death.

Ishinomori's comics are Kamen Rider (story of #1 and #2 against Shocker) and KR Black (Kotaro against Golgom).

They're pretty different from Spirits and the shows they're connected to.
