What kind of military lets a solider wear a mask all the time?
No.3228
OP, I want you to know that any baneposting that may or may not go on in this thread is entirely on your shoulders.
That being said, a military which is ruled by a bunch of incompetent despots (and Dozle and I guess Garma), several of whom believe themselves to be on good terms with Char, and which has need of his incredible piloting abilities.
When you're as good as most named UC aces are compared to every ordinary soldier, I imagine the military would let you get away with quite a bit, relatively speaking. I think that'd go double when your military is severely outnumbered.

You'd be amazed by how much shit the upper echelon is allowed to get away with. True, if an ordinary rank-and-file footsoldier would try any flamboyant antics like that, you can be damn sure someone would correct the shit out of him.

From what I remember of The Origin, he has an excuse like his eyes being sensitive to light or something.

Before he got recognition he probably didn't need it, not like the Zabis are going to personally inspect every dumb rookie.
After he got famous he was good enough that no one questioned minor eccentricities.

He wears it to hide his face from the zabis, but

>>3271On a related note, I seriously wish that real life had pilots who were so fucking skilled that they could get away with wearing whatever they want and having some colorful, anime-esque personality. That would make me pretty happy.
>>3276That does sorta throw a wrench in the whole thing.
I guess he could've shown up with the "scars" excuse, but worn a more subtle/appropriate mask until he became a top ace who was too good to give a fuck.

I've always wondered at what rank do you get to paint your mobile suit or get a custom variant. Or is it awarded to soldiers who go above and beyond the call of duty?

>>3340>I've seen thrown by fighter pilots …Make that flyers in general. I was around when a group decided to do the Harlem Shake in the back of a jet in flight. Some jumped on equipment racks and started shaking violently. They even had put it up on Youtube, but it got taken down real quick. Flyers can do some dumb shit and hardly get in trouble for it.
Pic related, it was me when I heard of it.
