4chan/m/ took about a decade to get to where it is now.

I think it's important to remember two things: First, secondary /m/s have always been fairly quiet; eternitychan's /m/ isn't much faster than this one either. Second, 8chan in general is slowing down as well; since time has passed and the original issues which sparked migration to this site have died down somewhat, every board, especially the more niche ones like this, have slowed down even more.

/m/ itself was always a niche board, so I can sorta understand why this board is generally dead. I mean it's nice that since not that many people are here, that means there's less shitposting going on.

/jp/ itself had an offsite board, but while it was based on /jp/, there were more lenient with discussion topics. It was like a laid-back version of /a/jp/ with a sprinkle of /v/.

It's not like I know what the fuck I'm talking about anyways. I've always been more of a lurker than a poster.

As brothers in chinese cartoons, /m/ is always welcome on /a/. But yeah, you guys do need to figure out some kind of recruitment campaign. Our boards weren't hit very hard in the exodus, so we have to figure stuff out. /m/ is more inclusive and so you're going to want to be more proactive. On /a/ we can deal with our speed, and wait for more decent /a/nons to come over as mods gradually let the old board go to shit.

The more I think about it, though, the more I wonder if this place, 8chan's /m/, might actually end up being a less effective/safe backup than mechachan or eternity, due to the way 8chan is structured. I've been thinking a bit about this and 8chan in general–I know it might seem self-indulgent, but hear me out.

1: This single board on 8chan may be nice and niche, but 8chan as a whole is far, far more notorious than mechachan or eternitychan could ever hope to be in a million years. There are so many things that could go wrong that could deep-six this whole site, including our board. What if hotwheels and the volunteers (however many of them there are) get overwhelmed with work and can't delete illegal content in time? What if he pisses off some kook with an affinity for bots (like that Kimmo guy or whoever got mad at moot a few years back), and this place gets DDOS'd to hell and back? What if something happens to Brennan (hotwheels) himself? He's not exactly a model of health, and the Philippines isn't the safest country in the world. It's less likely moot will kick the bucket prematurely than he will. Then who else is gonna run the server?

2: Some of the things I've seen recently make me think that anyplace on 8chan has as much to fear from other boards here as external interference. Everybody here knows that raid, doxxing, etc. boards are allowed under the banner of "free speech" because such things aren't technically against the letter of U.S. law. It might not be concerning so long as other sites get raided, but how long will it be until boards start raiding *each other* on 8chan? Already I've seen threads on /baphomet/ or whatever about hitting boards on 8chan. Now, most people don't want to do it because they understand what would happen in the future. However, I think it's only a matter of time before some short-sighted troll starts up an intra-8chan raid or "board war" or something. And when that happens, I doubt there'll be any going back, and our board may well get caught in the crossfire somehow. It's not a concern as long as we stay very obscure, but weren't we a featured board a little while ago? We may not be as obscure as we'd need to be to guarantee our safety if things get hot…though I obviously hope they won't; and I'm knocking on wood to ensure I haven't jinxed it!

Again, I gotta say I do like this place. It's nice and cozy, and webms with sound like >>5274 are *really* cool. But all in all, I think we have to be honest and note that our place here is a lot more precarious than it might seem at first glance. For all the complaints one can levy at moot for how he's run his site, the 4chan approach strikes me as somewhat less susceptible to catastrophic failure than Brennan's.

But seriously, there's a lot of legal hurdles that have to be jumped through for sure. Hotwheels has done his research and has created a haven where bad things can happen, and they will be dealt with. Invariably there will be time between bad things being posted and those postings being removed. And knowing the primary enemies of InfiniteChan, they aren't above posting such when no mods are around and immediately taking screenshots or reporting it. It gets handled appropriately and in a timely fashion but the site remains. Long story short, no need to worry.

The most sympathetic and likeable character was the comedic incompetent villain, but at least he didn't get someone killed on a selfish desire to steal military grade hardware, get off without punishment, get asked to pilot it, and then throw a fit because of all that. Z Gundam had similar issues, I generally felt more for Jerid than Kamille, but ZZ Gundam had no excuse for that shit.
