>>5526/Co/mrade here, yes and no. Other /co/mrades are going to give different opinions because the guy is really divisive, but here's my take:
Dan Slott is the writer. He's really controversial because his writing manages to be both good and bad at the same time. He has great ideas, but tends to write extreme situations and then has asspull solutions to them, which are unsatisfying to read. The plot will continue until he says it's done, nothing like Leopardon will ever work.
He's most known for 'The Superior Spider-man' which had Doc Ock swapping minds with Peter Parker, then allowing Peter to die in his old body. Doc Ock then tries his damndest to be a better peter parker than Peter was, finishing his doctorate and fighting crime more efficiently and whatnot. It's actually an interesting premise, but there's a lot of little moments people take issue with.
Like Peter's ghost sort of exists in his conscience for a while, and he eventually erases that from his mind. Okay, so what, Peter's perma-dead? Haha, of course not, he'll be back for the anniversary issue because status quo sells.
In this story, treat everyone who is not 616 Peter and SpOck (Doc Ock in Spider-man's body) as if they were wearing a giant red shirt from star trek, including some fan favorites he's mercilessly killed off for no reason like Spider-man 1602.
