New to mecha, I have a question.Disregarding their own stories, characters, etc. what's the difference between the likes of Evangelion and Starship Troopers?Is it a matter of scale?Is mecha not just big power armour?

It's more nuanced than that regarding eva. But you're essentially right. Power armour is as /m/ as any giant robot.

On youtube? Just the first two episodes subtitled in spanish. But just googling "starship troopers OVA download" gives streaming on watchanimemovie and "yoroshiku starship troopers" gives you a bunch of torrents for it and the website for the people who did the english subs.

Just about everything.

EVA are fucking huge. Powered armor is just a small human armor.

Mecha is piloted. Power armor is in the name. Worn armor that is powered and enhances the user.

Power armor is a (roughly) human-sized mech you wear around yourself as a suit of armor.
Evas are biological vat-grown Angel clones, who interestingly enough wear something akin to power armor, in order to make them restrained and controlable.

If it's in the name, then I guess Armoured Trooper Votoms, Armoured Core and Armoured Fleet Dairugger XV aren't mecha because they're armour?

What about Escaflowne? They're clearly mecha as well but they're worn and wielded like suits of armour.

Power armour is just tiny mecha.

If you sit in and pull levers for dramatic effect, it's EVA.
If you wear it while you bound from cover to cover, it's Starship Troopers.

The difference is that these are large constructs you get inside of and use controls to move around. Power Armor is something you literally wear as armor, it doesn't even have to fully conceal you (such as the power armor in Edge of Tomorrow). Power Armor isn't a construct that you're controlling, it's something you simply wear that enhances your own abilities.

A lot of mecha blends the line between power armor and full blown robots though, so sometimes it's hard to fully classify them.

Votoms are mecha, they're piloted, not worn.

But that being said, they've got more in common with cheap MP tanks like Shermans and T34 that you literally drown your enemy in, rather than the typical powerful xboxhueg Gundam style mechs.

I was referring to the term power armor. It's literally powered armor.
