Meh, I think it's okay.

I was unaware of the ancient traditional ninja dump truck, though, and I totally read Naruto so I'm basically a ninja expert.

It's watchable solely for how much of a train wreck this might become and lord knows I love me some train wrecks.

I don't read manga so for me I'll try and judge it based on what it does.

I do see a considerable amount of Hurricanger and Kakuranger in this. No doubt there. I'm just glad they decided to forgo the visual sound effect gag from Kakuranger. That grated after a while.

Instead they seem to have a very heavy post production CGI built into it, outside of transformations I mean. Like with the Grandpa hitting the floor and the whole place changing. They could have done that in real time but instead chose the easier, if less visually appealing route. I don't blame them for this, budget constraints and such.

Not really so much a complaint as it is an observation.

It's obvious that when they're making this they get up in the morning and say "exactly how much bullshit can I get away with today".

I mean look at this shit. Rigging an entire humanoid puppet inside your robot suit while also having like fifty different weapons and a whole bunch of props. Or claiming ninja are wizards who exist to bring love and joy to the world. Or claiming that you can be the last ninja despite literally every single other person in the room being a ninja.

Even compared to other sentai this is grade A bullshit and you can tell they're loving every goddamn second of it. I can basically guarantee you that some producer is basically writing blank checks every episode and someone is seeing how far it can go before the other shoe drops.

I mean for real. They even handmade the minis like the Shiba mech. That hasn't been consistently done in like, ten years.

I tried watching up to Episode 2 and all I can think of is how COMPLETELY INFERIOR it was to ToQGer.

The whole pitch this season seems to be "woo woo ninjas, ninjas are cool right?" There's no story, the robots look kind of lame, the best thing they have right now are the toys.

Cool toys do not save a sentai season. That's the mistake GoBusters made. I hope it improves soon.

Of course thats what they're going for and really thats the only thing saving it. Cause I, like you, want to see what they'll do next.

Plus pink and white are legit QTs for once. Seeing as how we had a drought with jewnose-whiney bitch and the lesbian in TOQGER. (even though I loved that show those two drove me nuts)

i haven't watched this and i stopped watching tqg at the bath house episode. only seen gobus and kyoryuger before and loved the shit out of both. maybe sentai just isn't my thing.

Yellow was hot in a thick kind of way. Enter was cool because he was just some dude who kept fucking around. Beet and Stag had a nice thing going on and yellow got in on it a little bit. The buddyroids had personality but not enough to really do much given circumstances.

Red and Blue just KILLED the show though. Red can't decide if he's a cool serious type or an overly naive Shonen protag who'll try to win the day with optimism and blue has no idea if he's for or against either one. They were indecisive for three quarters of the series. Blue improved a bit since he and escape had some chemistry but that was so late it didn't do much.

Gobusters is one of those things that works well on paper, but turned into a ridiculous mess just because the people involved had no idea what they were doing. It's kind of like a weird inverse OOO in that regard.
