Just finished this show. I was just wondering what everybody else thought of it. I liked it a lot, definitely more than Eva. Good music and fight scenes, really interesting enemy designs. The whole conspiracy side of things felt a little sloppy. and I never felt like the show fully lived up to it's potential. It's time shenanigans was confusing enough but then added to all the clones and Mu and humans and humans turning Mulian it became really hard to keep track of peoples connections to each other.
I ended up calling Haruka and Ayato being together before the formation of Tokyo Jupiter but there was no way in fuck I could've guessed at him being a clone or any of that nonsense.
I'm actually a sucker for love stories and Haruka still pining for Ayato after all those years only to find him years younger than herself and having zero memory of her is really heartbreaking to think about and re contextualizes her actions in the first few episodes quite a bit.
Overall I'd give it 7/10 or so certainly a good watch but not top tier.
How's the movie anyways?

Good thing this isn't 4chan /m/. Even with how much /m/ hates Eva, you'd still get slaughtered. But yeah, I really enjoyed Rahxhepon. It's like a slice of life show where shit gets real.
And the vermillion was sex, and I thought the cast was really likable.

>>7090Watching the MP Vermillions get stomped in the final fight sucked. They were truly beautiful machines.

>>7071Just started the show a couple days ago, and so far it's alright as a lighter and softer Eva. I know people often get angry when that comparison is made, but it seems to be pretty spot-on at this point.
No.7186
>>7170I don't really get the lighter softer thing. Eva was soft as shit until the last two or three episodes and the movie. I mean RhaXephon doesn't even have a penguin mascot.

I watched Rahxephon back when it first aired and I was still a wee boy. It rocked then, and I wager it rocks now still, although I haven't seen anything about it ever since then. Maybe I should re-watch.
No.7283
>>7270I'd give it a shot. I rarely re watch shows but I think that RahXephon would be very different with all the foreknowledge of what happens. Just Haruka's character would come off in a completely different light.

>>7071Stay as far away from the movie as you can unless you want to see everything you loved about the show torn to shreds. Trust me, not even the final third/quarter's unintentional comedy and spontaneously exploding women is worth it.

>>7606Where does it rate on a pure mindfuck level. I love dumb metaphorical anime movies.
No.7613
>>7606I hated how it messed up the ending.
No.7615
>>7609There's a difference between mindfuck and sheer incompetency, and the film falls squarely under the latter by cutting most of the show's content and causing plot holes by the introduction of new scenes and truly incompetent editing.
> Ayato finally bangs Haruka> next scene, he seems to have completely forgotten and is absentmindedly wondering if she has a boyfriend> most of the combat sequences are cut entirely>Quon is reduced to a personality-free, spontaneously exploding plot device> some random bullshit about her giant robot being "fake" in a failed attempt to set up dramatic tension> never brought up againThere's also a bit where lazy coloring makes Quon look like a dickgirl.

I personally liked that scene where he runs away with his girlfriend and it turns out she's an alien connected to the Mu that attacks the city and as he beats up the Mu he is killing her all the while she tells him she loves him

Yeah that was pretty great.

Now I just want to see it out of morbid curiosity.
