Mark my words, at best they'll put out something like the Speed Racer live action that is competently made but ignored outside the hardcore fans and a massive money loser. At worst, it'll die in development hell or be another Dragonball live action and still be a massive money loser. Either way Sony just threw away several million dollars into a future bonfire.

I don't give any shit about the ghost in the Shell movie but I can actually get excited about this. Glorious dogfights and super robot spaceship transformations in hollywood CGI, I am also curious how they will handle the music and if they will change it or keep it kind or cutesy (kyuu~ kyuu~). This will probably be one of those things where they sit on the rights and do nothing ever with it but a live action macross would be pretty fun even if it's shit.

I can already see how this is going to go
>First movie is called Robotech so newcomers won't expect a sequel right out of the gate/covers their ass in case the film does shit so they don't have to do a sequel
>Starts with the fold, ends with returning to earth
>Second is called Robotech: Annihilation or something equally generic, starts with toronto and ends with earth getting wrecked
>Third is just called Robotech 3, finishes off the macross saga while setting up for the 4th movie that will never come, Robotech: Southern Cross
I honestly an't think of anything good to come from this. Any games made will be shite tie-in films, and I seriously dont they'd re release the anime. Plus, macross localization are even more fucked now
