So why don't mechs ever have keys? The only one that comes to mind is Megas. They seem to get stolen by bratty teenagers a lot, adding an ignition key in to the cockpit would have solved pretty much all of the Titan's problems with the AEUG, for instance.

Most IRL military hardware lacks any sort of key for the ignition. It's because, when shit's hitting the fan, you don't want to have to fuck around with keys.
