I'm only 20 episodes in, and should I feel bad if I like ZZ better than Zeta so far? I even liked the Moon Moon arc. The characters grew on me pretty quickly, and Haman is amazing.
No.991
No, they're radically different series. It makes sense that you'd prefer one of them over the other, it just happens that many prefer Zeta.
A lot of people liked SEED Destiny, too, though.

The worst part about going from zeta to double zeta is the fucking mood whiplash. You go from mulitple people dying and people going insane and shit to Bright catching chickens and MS fistfights.

Zeta was a tedious, boring drag with a directionless plot that I cant remember no matter how hard I try. ZZ was fun and had the best main Gundam.

Zeta to me was like attending that boring family wedding ceremony and being the youngest one. You get bossed/slapped around everywhere and have no idea what's going on.
ZZ was like that adventurous trip with your band of buddies , which includes insufferable assholes and silent cowards. And Haman. And Purus.
No.3547
Okay I fished Zeta a few days ago (was dragging my feet because I heard the ending would piss me off). Anyway, I figured I'd give ZZ a try, not crazy about subs (yeah yeah) - but I figured if I didn't like it as much as Zeta I'd go back to Victory or move on in the mid UC. I'm like 9 episodes in and I fucking love it. I honestly feel a little bad for even thinking this, but it makes Zeta seam boring. So far I think Zeta had the best story and characters. But holy fuck ZZ is fun. It's light hearted, but there's still drama. It reminds me of Dragonball y'know. Silly dialogue, slapstick, but people still get killed.

I'll be honest, I'm not entirely sure where all this love for ZZ is coming from recently. I watched the first 10 episodes not too long ago, and I just thought it was a complete mess.
The antagonists are a total joke, which would be fine if the series were 100% committed to being a comedy. But on some level, ZZ still seems to be trying to continue the whole "UC Gundam saga" started with 0079 and Zeta. I understand that civilians being forced to join the fight is kind of a Gundam hallmark, but I still can't fathom what made the writers decide to have basically the entire cast be a bunch of incompetent nobodies who can't even be assed to close the cockpit half the time. I mean, even if Mashymre is just some crazy washed up stalker, it really strains my disbelief that any military outfit in history would be unable to deal with the ZZ protagonists.
I'm not even gonna say that the protagonists are unlikable, and I'm definitely not saying that I'm inherently opposed to something more lighthearted in UC. It's just that ZZ is trying to have it both ways, and it's just sort of been half-assing both so far. The result's just been a show where there aren't enough gags for it to be a good comedy, but the drama is so nonexistent that I find it tough to remind myself that anything is at stake at all.
I did hear it gets way better shortly after the point I left off, though, so maybe I'll give it another shot.

ZZ is a pretty cool series I still cant tell if I love or hate anime ja nai though. The second half was better than zeta but over all I thought zeta was the better series. 0079 is still better than both

I'm glad to see more love for ZZ cropping up these days, I'm one of those people who liked it way more than Zeta too. I actually think the silly tone of the early episodes helps it - it both establishes how little the main cast cared about what was going on outside their world and also made the (much) darker later episodes all the more effective (as opposed to Victory, which tries to be so bleak throughout that I found it veered into accidental comedy). Plus, Puru is best Gundam girls.

Why am I such a faggot?
No.3672
The way I see it, ZZ was written with more likeable characters, and the way the series embraces its cartoony nature in the beginning is great. It has a slight Xabungle feel to it. Somewhere around the middle ZZ takes turn for the more serious, as to remind the cast that even everyday laughter has its more serious side.
>>3639Everybody have their own views. ZZ has a very beefy, commanding appearance that screams of overblown power. It's like if Zeta went to the gym and came out kicking ass just by being there. I too never cared for AGE designs, so ZZ's 80s powerhouse look fits it perfectly. Modern redesigns try to slim ZZ down, and that's horrible.

Did Judau have any clue who Sayla was?
Char didn't really come up as a subject of discussion either, so it's just some random blond chick. Maybe he newtyped that she's trustworthy? Or newtyped via his sister that leaving his sister with her is okay? It just seems weird that for all of his MUH SISTER that he just dumps her on some random woman he doesn't know, and maybe heard a story about her brother being an asshole who occasionally hangs out with younger girls
