It comes down to practicing consistently and in the right ways. Try drawing from life, drawing people upside down, etc. It won't be quick but eventually you'll start getting there.

I'm unsure whether or not to recommend this artist or not. While the two pictures he made for me came out great (pic related), his timeliness was a bit lacking, and rather than sending me progress on the work, he just sent me the finished pieces the day he started and finished them. He made a few small mistakes, and when I tried to contact him about changing them, he dropped all communication with me. So I had to make the changes myself the best I could. But like I said before, his art is very nice, and if it weren't for those issues, I would definitely hire again.

Be as thorough as possible with what you want, and don't be afraid to tell them you want something changed or removed. At first it seems like its mean to say anything bad, but artists really don't mind, the good ones anyway that actually care about their clients.

Hey everyone, let me show you my commissions.
First one is my Jabberwock Collar one, or 9.0, done by the artist Lutherniel. (http://lutherniel.deviantart.com/)
He does nice Monster Girl collar images, where people commission their favorite Monster Girl holding a collar (Most of them are drawn in an ambiguous manner, so it's up to the viewer to guess if it's meant for them or you) So naturally, I commissioned one for my Jabberwock to be drawn with one. I wanted here to look smug as she was giving the collar to the viewer. He was nice, I paid, and began waiting.
Then, it was posted, 8.0 as you can see above. It looked completely different from what I originally wanted, and wondered if this was just artistic liberty, or if I hadn't specified, or what. But I didn't want to say anything, so I was just content to have my waifu drawn.
Then, some time later when I didn't even think about it, I get an email saying "Alright, your commissions done", with 9.0 bundled with it. Turns out that 8.0 wasn't mine but someone else who happened to order a Jabberwock Collar image too. Life is funny, and I'm glad someone else out there likes Jabberwocks too.

Originally I asked for her to just be drawn in messy casual clothes, but someone in the stream thought about making it into sexy lingerie, he liked it, I liked it, so it went to that direction. The Gold Tooth was an amazing touch I'm glad was added.

I'm really into dark, monochrome movie poster esque artwork and I found a guy that shines there pretty well, threw some money his way immediately of course.
I had him draw my waifu's royal guard general here facing off with a stone golem in the first image, it's probably my favorite commission of all time and I use it as my phone wallpaper.
The second image is another one from the same guy and you can kind of notice a decline in quality compared to the first one. It's only natural, he was probably growing bored of drawing in that same art style and it's such a large scale drawing he had to spend a lot of time on. I'm sure he would've polished it up more if I had asked, but I get so excited when I'm seeing updates on commissions that I often overlook things. I'm still very happy with it.

I'd highly recommend working with him, the second image despite having so many characters and detail was only something like $45-60, I can't remember exactly. He asked me to clarify points he wasn't sure about many times and sent me multiple sketches so he knew he was doing exactly as I wanted before he continued and fucked anything up.

I commissioned a plushie that was modeled after a chibi of marco I got from the draw threads (which you can see in the second image) once upon a time I thought was worth posting, too. It only cost me fifteen bucks including shipping.
It was done by https://inkbunny.net/Pichigani , who also draws. I commissioned an extremely simple psuedo comic inspired by Rei which you can see in image three. I wish I had put more money into the comic.
The problem is I think that pichigani got a job that's sucking up all her time so you're probably going to have a very long wait if you commission her. Her grasp of english is also kind of poor so you'll have to word your commission details kind of carefully, but if she messes up, she has no problem fixing the image for you. She actually fucked marco up so bad she had to redo the whole sketch for the comic and had no problem whatsoever doing so.

It's actually a pretty decent price for the amount of work that goes into it, assuming it's colored. It's not just one picture, after all, and the artist has to make sure that the page looks cohesive. Although I may have just dropped more than that on a single picture, but it's a very special occasion so I don't feel bad about it.
Also this is slightly off topic but I always feel really bad when I see artists underpricing their work. I know it's up to them to price what they think their work is worth, but when I see artists making a wage of I'm guessing $2-4 USD an hour… It's just sad.

In no particular order I'm looking for:
-People who do well with couples/have good prices
-Someone who does good male character design in an anime style without making them look bishie (currently considering ossimi-chan once she's finished with my current commission)
-Someone who can do r-18/lewd stuff but isn't opposed to loli. Not that I'm looking to get loli styled drawings done, but I've ran into issues where people consider Victorique too young looking. I'm not opposed to "aging her up" a bit either, so long as she retains her waif-ish body.
I've got quite a bit of money sacked away, so prices aren't an issue. I'll pay so long as the quality and attention to detail is there. Although I will say that I'd like to get the best value out of what I pay, quantity can be better than quality on occasion.
On a semi-related note, is there any chance that you've talked to/heard anything about Mel/Cerealharem lately? I shot her an email seeing if she'd be interesting on drawing out an idea I had, but haven't heard anything since. I don't knew whether she's just been busy or if what I pitched was so outrageous that she never replied.

I'd say Ossimi-Chan, but I know you've already worked with her. I had her draw a lewd Remus, and she had no problem with it, and was able to keep her body type similar.

Thanks Remusbro, I appreciate it. I most likely am going to commission Ossimi-chan again soon (leaning more towards OC self-instert character design so I have a good reference when talking to other artists), but first I'd like to see how my current commission with her turns out.
I didn't know about the Earthquake, so that would make sense. I also would attribute it partially to classes too, since most people are back into the swing of things now. I don't mind waiting for a response at all, I'd just like to have a yes/no answer sooner rather than later is all.
On another note, I have been doing a lot of searching through groups and profiles for new artists and have some new people I'm trying to get into contact with. They specialize in lewder content, so we'll see how that goes. On a related note, if there is an artist that anyone here likes, I find it helpful to look through their favorites list. For the most part they tend to favorite similar artists, which can make finding new people to commission easier.

I'm hoping so! I have 5 months completely done, 2 sketches sent and likely to be finished soon, and 1 that's already been paid and the artist has to finish one other commission to get to mine. From there 2 more artists I know for sure will do it, and one got delayed because his computer an heroed, but her just fixed it, and the final one just takes forever but I know he'll get to it.
So that's 10 I know are safe, the only ones I'm having problems with are the cover art, October, and November, but hopefully I'll get artists for those soon. I did have one artist for October planned out, but unfortunately bailed out, so I won't have October's finished before Halloween, which is a shame.

I really recommend it, it's been a fun project. I really like seeing how different artists interpret my waifu into their style, and it's neat to see your waifu in different casual festive scenarios!
Only downside is that this can get really pricey depending on the artists you get. But the upsides are great, you get a load of calendar images that can be used to make a calendar, set your PC wallpaper to, all kinds of stuff. I loved it and haven't regretted doing this at all!

I never posted this but at the con I went to a while back an artist was doing commissions. $10 for full color. So I took it and did it of Kyousuke drinking chocolate milk. It was right at the start of our relationship too. The picture is nice but she kinda messed up on the coloring… she did mention she was sorry about it and gave me extra stickers and such. I still like it. It does look better IRL than the image because of the tilt/how bad my camera is. If i upgrade phones I'll retake it.
Still I like it. Her art isn't my favorite style but I like it and glad I commissioned it.
