>What is that and do I want to know?

It was a series of competitions organised by one of our /mai/dens where we would sign up our waifus in simulated battles.

The guy would make models of waifus using what I think was the Soul Calibour engine and would let the game AI fight by its own while streaming the event. The goal was that your waifu would reach the top.

I wish Waifudome would be back!

That short anime OVA? I liked it.

>Would you all be accepting of someone with a husbando from Prototype?

Its characters are not developed enough for my tastes, so there's a chance that you might not actually know all that much about your husbando. There's even a chance that Type-Moon will someday develop its prototype characters after all and your husbando might end up being completely different from what you had imagined.

That being said, I would still be accepting of someone with a husbando from prototype.

Especially considering how active the fate fandom is right now, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a fan consensus on the personalities of the characters already.

>>66275

To be fair, some of the characters have shown up in Grand Order, where they have a more defined personality. There was also a prequel Light Novel, Fate/Prototype: Fragments of Blue and Silver, essentially that universe's equivalent to Fate/Zero where many of the same characters appeared. I still want to find the English version. And yeah, you're probably right, the fanbase has probably filled in the gaps where personality is concerned.

Also, I didn't know we had somebody with Okita as a waifu, hi there!

To me, Fate has always been Autism times something.

Fate Stay/Night is Autism x1, as that's the basis for alot of the stuff that happens. So each Zero is Autism x2, Extra is Autism x3 and so it. It becomes so wrapped in it's own lore and stuff that it becomes too much for me to follow.

And there's been alot of Fate stuff over they years.

>>66224

I'm happy to see Yukari higher on the ranks this time around, but if she's not getting top 10 whilst being playable in the most recently released title (with both of her themes remixed), I'm afraid I won't be seeing her there soon.

>>66225

>>66232

It's interesting how Marisa was consistently above Reimu in the first bunch of polls, while it's the exact opposite now. If I were to tell you which protagonist I prefer (as a character, because gameplay wise, it depends on the game), that'd be Marisa. I find it really cool and endearing how she is such a strong character whilst being the "human/ordinary magician". This title is brought up by other characters in dialogue as well in the character select screen

to show and remind us that Marisa's journey to magical power is one she's been doing as a regular human; not someone born into power. Now, don't get me wrong, Reimu too makes progress with her abilities through training

(I'm pretty sure she can open up a gap on her own and launch an attack from there now), but she is associated with the Hakurei god and Yukari, which naturally give her an advantage over the blonde protagonist. As far as I'm

aware and as long as my memory doesn't betray me, Marisa develops her magical affinity by the means of her own research. Lastly, I want to mention (and this is simply my own opinion) that if she really is on a quest to become immortal and she achieves it (even accidentally, by her high concentration of magic), that she will lose what truly makes her special. Because her humanity makes her not another Alice or Patchouli, for her transience doesn't make her another Yukari, Kaguya or Mokou and of course, since she has a limited lifespan, her own way of achieving her goals and her bold demeanor make her not a blonde Reimu.

That's about it. I'm terribly sorry if I got something completely wrong here, my memory tends to be unreliable lately and there are, without a doubt, things that I don't know about. More than anything, I want to hear your thoughts and

that goes to both of you.

>>66230

Seconding this. It'd be great to see some playable Flan action.

 No.66353

>>66351

Marisa being so strong due to constant training and willpower is something i really admire, she basically started from zero and look where she is now.

As for Reimu, like you said, was born with power, she had to train too, but not as much as Marisa did, due to her inherent power and mostly laziness this is one of her flaws, another one that we share i'm afraid

So ye, i agree with you on that, that's why Marisa is my second favorite 2hu

The early popularity polls were very different. There weren't that many characters yet, which means that most characters were relatively popular, but at the same time characters didn't have that many loyal fans yet. Even Reimu and Marisa hadn't appeared in that many games yet at that point (excluding the PC98 games) and early Touhou games, especially TH09, had many playable characters.

Most of the time, new characters made up a large percentage of the contestants.

Participation was also generally low with only a few thousand votes at most.

In short, it was a very chaotic time.

Even Youmu was much more popular than Reimu in the 3rd poll, but then fell from 2nd place to 9th within a year.

Nowadays, the Touhou series spans many games and no other characters appeared in nearly as many games as Reimu and Marisa.

Flandre unfortunately doesn’t have much character background and backstory; therefore, I decided to extend my general knowledge of her kind: vampires.

I bought the famous original novel Dracula as it is, with no doubt, the work that has most significantly shaped the modern conception of vampires. I decided to buy the English original version (and not The French translation) as I want to really grasp this work in the most unaltered manner.

And mostly for amusement, I also watched the 3 Blade movies and they are retarded. Only the first one had some value.

I've been so busy lately that I barely even have time to think, and yet nothing feels like it's getting done. It sucks lol.

I guess this is a good time to post a weird dream as well.

I left my house (by phasing through a wall for some reason) to go look for Lily. I walked a few meters, then asked some guy if he's seen her. He said that she was at my house.

>wut

So I turn around and go home, and sure enough, there's some kind of party going on in the room that was empty 30 seconds ago. I notice Luka and Meiko in the crowd, and think this is cool.

Eventually, I found 'Lily' sitting on a couch. She actually looked like her voice provider, but my dream was insisting "this is Lily". She seemed happy to see me as well, so it made sense.

Eventually, I ended up carrying her upstairs and some spoiler-worthy things happened and it's at this moment that Lily herself showed up for real.

>mfw

Lily was actually pretty amused at this though, and we ended up hanging out after all lol.

Exactly this. That's why they have a problem with waifuism, because they consider it as cuckoldry that you aren't reproducing.

This mindset assumes two things: First, that everyone this goddamned site is a white chad /pol/smoker (8chan leans too much to the right already to be comfortable even for Tumblerettes and SJWs. Isn't cuckoldry define as one who cheats on his/her spouse by fucking other men/women? Why do they think that waifuism is cuckoldry when a waifu is technically not real? Is it because your "cucking out" the white race?

>This mindset assumes two things: First, that everyone this goddamned site is a white chad /pol/smoker

That would implied that /pol/ is white in the first place and not a bunch of 56% americanmutts larping as Aryans.

>8chan leans too much to the right already to be comfortable even for Tumblerettes and SJWs

There's nothing wrong with being right-wing. But I'll say this, just because you're right-wing that doesn't mean you're immune to being subverted i.e. modern Nu/pol/ blindly supporting Trump no matter what dump shit Trump does and/or worst Trump actively helping the Zionist Israel to make the Great Israel a reality.

>And second, that reproducing automatically means the parents are going to be decent enough to raise their kids properly, instead of neglectful and lazy pieces of shit, which will be the reason why their totally white kids will become what they fear the most: A bunch of soy-loving, hair-colored nu-males and feminists who have college-degree in social justice bullshit but work on Starbucks, espousing socialist beliefs and unquestioningly praise Heebywood capeshit movies as well as "open relationships", if you know what I mean.

And the Irony of all of that is that the only religion that can stop more nu-male marxists from being made and make the parents take care of both the kids and the family is Christianity which unfortunately the majority of /pol/, and 8chan for that matter, openly rejects the religion because they think that Christianity is "Jewish". Although, I'm surprise that no one on /pol/ suggested they all should convert to Islam for white people Mormonism. It's possible the most pro-white religion on the planet. (Well use to before the Mormons did a 180 with every single one for their pro-white doctrines during the 1960's when the race communist revolution was going on i.e. niggers or any dark skin race are the result of the spirit children not taking sides and Cain committing the first murder; dark skin races not allowed in the Mormon religion; any Mormon that marries non-whites gets the death penalty)

>I think that /pol/ is so desperate of making sure white people are reproducing that they will included the most degenerate scum of the earth and they will think about how the parent can do after there is a great amount of white people on earth.

Nail on the head. What made me leave 8pol was a post by some dumb high school kid who never held a job in his life and owned little more than the clothes on his back knocked up his gf at 18. The retards actually told him to keep it and starting giving advice on how to shoplift and scam people in order to feed his new family. Apparently it never crossed their minds that having an uneducated criminal for a father might not be healthy for a child who will in all likelyhood grow up to be one of the "degenerates" they will supposedly rope on DOTR.

They just don't get it. They think white = winning, conveniently forgetting that whites have been their own worst enemies for the past century at least: WW1 and 2, the sexual revolution, feminism, drug culture, the anti-authority counterculture, SJWs, all backed by willing white useful idiots. >Isn't cuckoldry define as one who cheats on his/her spouse by fucking other men/women?

Yes, if we go by the proper, literal, dictionary-written definition, "cuckoldry" is when a wife cheats with another man against his husband. Thus, it makes the cheated husband a "cuckold". And, if a husband cheats of his wife with another woman, the wife becomes a "cuckquean". Being either a cuckold or cuckquean, even in this definition, is considered both an embarrassment, an insult and even a heavy accusation against a person way back in the days of Canterbury Tales. In other words, by definition, if you divorced your cheating wife, you won the case against her, you lived on to have a prosperous life, remarried another woman but more faithful, and the wife you divorced lived and died miserably, it doesn't the change the fact that you have been cuckolded.

Now, here's the thing: A husband who is indifferent to even encouraging his wife to cheat to him is called another term entirely: a wittol. That's the pre-existing word for what we call as "literal cucks" today. But that's an archaic, mostly-forgotten term already. And indeed, pornography cemented the word "cuckoldry" as a fetish-play for watching your wife be fucked by another person, but that's like saying that rape porn is the same as real rape. So there we have it: Most likely, the usage for "cuck" today was popularized by an anon, maybe from /v/ or /pol/, who has a fetish for cuckold porn.

The Protestant Reformation was necessary. The Catholic Church at the time had strayed too far from original Biblical teachings, and was practically unrecognizable when you actually compare things to scripture.

A reformation was necessary because of clergy abuses of power and over politicization of the church yes you're right. Was Luther's reformation necessary? No, not only were his reforms unnecessary, they poisoned Europe. Sola Scriptura doesn't make sense when you think about it. Only the bible is to be used. What is the bible though, a collection of works from the apostles mixed together with OT stories and poetry. The catholic church in the first place is the body that chose which of these many works to include as canon and which to ignore. There's a mountain of scripture that was ignored because conflicting accounts or unnecessary stories. Why elevate the bible as the sole authority when it's a small part of the whole. Also salvation through faith alone is ridiculous etc. And while renouncing the politicization of the church, the greatest legacy of the protestants is the century of war that followed and permanent division of Europe. Kings converted just so they could gain more power and steal clergy property.

That said I don't agree with the other guy, neither schism nor reformation killed Christianity. It was the enlightenment and secularization that killed it. In western Europe anyways. And the general idea of the reformation is good at heart. Just so many things around it don't work. In a sense, by dogmatically clinging only to the bible Protestants are easily crushed under the weight of the enlightenment. Whereas Catholicism had the means by which to fight back in scholasticism, Catholics devote themselves to Aristotle and can accept things like evolution.

The schism only really weakened Europe as a whole, not Christianity. Enlightenment and secularization didn't really kill it either.

It had been fairly stable well into the 19th century.

Christianity in western Europe and North America has only really become what it is now due to modern Progressivism in the past few decades.

Marriage between a Catholic and Protestant, for example, was still completely unthinkable until the beginning of the 20th century even in continental Europe and look where we are now.

Progressivism, I think this is just a rebranding of Marxism. The progressives of today really look to me like flies that swarm the body of a carcass that died long ago. For instance compare student protests, violent as they can be, to the enlightened mobs of the French revolution.

Stable in the sense that Christians were always a large super majority of peoples. But the small number of skeptics were able to produce ideas that would destroy Christian identity in schools and salons and courts and in governments. Once it started it's ideas swept their way through the population until today you see the seeds full grown.

>Progressivism, I think this is just a rebranding of Marxism.

I think it is more like the child of Marxism, but rejecting the violent tendencies. Those student protesters were usually socialist, Marxist or outright communist in beliefs. But the thing is Marxism is still itself an ugly ideology even without the prescribed self-righteous violence, for it seeks to go against human nature, goes against basic economics, seeks to destroy cultural identities, and tries to cure the wrongs in history by intensifying what made it deadly in the first place.

>Not that I dislike the enlightenment at all, or think it shouldn't have happened, but now we're left without a rock to base our ethics upon.

Immanuel Kant, as far as I know, tried to justify by rationality the morals that religions general base upon themselves via categorical imperative, because he saw how his father was able to carry through everyday work with the help of religion. And Kant was living in the Enlightenment himself, so he wanted to preserve that old religious morality somehow using rationality and philosophy, because he was not happy with the popular moral theories of his time.

On the other hand, Friedrich Nietzsche's "God is dead" statement isn't one of pride against a god, but rather of lament: He knew what the Enlightenment did to Christianity, and he feared that, by the disappearance of it's belief in a God, people would no longer have moral anchor or an aim to improve itself. Thus, he wanted people to have an purpose and base in life again, such as art or philosophy. Else, he believes a feel of depressive nihilism will take over people as a whole.

I dunno why I'm talking about this, Marisa's an apatheist and I'm an irreligious theist, but maybe because I need to share whatever bits of shit I picked upon through my life in readings and anything else.

Well, it's not about faith. By "part of the administrative Buddhism" I mean that she literally works for a Yama, a god of death in Japanese Buddhism. More specifically, she sends surplus souls straight to Nirvana.

That's her sole reason for being.

>Progressivism, I think this is just a rebranding of Marxism.

Rather than being a rebranding of Marxism I think that both just share a common origin, but aren't necessarily related on an ideological level. Activism in general tends to be anti-conservative in nature, so it's obvious that a communist culture revolution would favor progressive ideas.

Still, even the progressive aspects of Communist states in the 20th century aren't comparable to the ones we see today.

>But the small number of skeptics were able to produce ideas that would destroy Christian identity in schools and salons and courts and in governments.

Not necessarily. Until well into the 19th century members of religious minorities in Europe either converted to (standard) Protestantism or left for America.

What eventually weakened Christianity in Europe were both Fascism and Communism in the 1920s.

Both especially antagonized Roman Catholicism because it limited their power over the people and due to mass polarization one quickly become the opposite of the other with the religious people becoming completely unrepresented in politics.

While both ideologies are mostly gone now, their anti-Christian culture continues to flourish.

I don't have much to say about Kant.

But Nietzsche is a fun fellow. I don't agree with man become a man-god. The whole thing seems really ideal, and what would the superman care for the average human? I ask Zarathustra a simple question: what is the point of all this? By which I mean the deeper meaning. Propping great men to lead us, we're no different than slaves in the end. Many will choose rebellion and destruction over the happy herd, that's the destructive human instinct.

But then I've only read Zarathustra(I heard his worst book), I haven't read the Gay Science or anything else.

Personally I think Kierkegaard holds the answer but that answer is so severe it could never be adopted by society as a solution. That religious thought and rational thought are completely incompatible, that a religious man should suffer and agonize over his faith and live like a Christian. Precisely because God is impossible to know.

Well, don't listen to me too much lest you also give up on whites, America, and the west in general. Ironically it was /pol/ that lead me there.

If we take the core beliefs of white supremacists and neo-nazis which are, respectively,

>whites are inherently superior to other races

and

>there is a global jewish conspiracy against gentiles

and assume either one to be true, then whites/gentiles are FUCKED because only a handful of NEET LARPers on a Hong Kong stone carving forum take either theory seriously.

If whites really are the master race, why have they allowed nonwhites to replace them in their own countries while whites are relegated to second class citizens? What have whites in South Africa done to save themselves from genocide other than hide and meekly apologize for apartheid? If the world really is run by just 0.2% of the population, why has the 'master race' allowed them to gain so much power and influence and why haven't they done anything about it? Why are so few supposed aryan supermen either unwilling or unable to break through the brainwashing?

Ultimately, whites are going to lose the numbers game simply due to white genes being recessive. That means that whites have three times as many victory conditions of nonwhites. In order to win, all objectives must be achieved:

>whites must outreproduce nonwhites

>whites must only reproduce with other whites

>whites must be aware of and support the first two objectives (as they are pointless if your little white saviors of the future grow up to be racemixing sjws)

But in order for nonwhites to win, they only have to do one single thing: outproduce whites. The nonwhite stain only takes one generation to take effect but countless generations to remove.

Anyway, that's why I only believe in waifuism now. Idpol is a game that was rigged against you long before you were born.

Firstly, it could be argued that the Catholic Church at that time was not corrupted like the Catholic Church of the later middle ages. They were closer to God and to their original form and purpose. So the arrangement of the Bible by the early church is not necessarily invalidated. Secondly, you yourself said it: they chose to ignore certain texts because they didn't match up with the whole presented by the rest, and their were also questions about their authenticity in comparison to the rest. You say the canon Bible is 'a small part of the whole', but the Apocrypha doesn't fit with the rest of that whole. And Sola Scriptura doesn't say that the Bible is the only authority, only that it is the supreme authority–there's nothing wrong with things like the works of Aristotle or Aquinas, and those things certainly hold weight and can prove helpful and profitable. But, they are merely subjective interpretations, and shouldn't be placed on the same level of authority as the Bible. That's all Sola Scriptura is really claiming. https://www.crossway.org/articles/what-sola-scriptura-really-means/

> Also salvation through faith alone is ridiculous etc.

This is another case where the idea of Solus Fide has been sadly misinterpreted. But it, in its true form, it is supported by Scripture–Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast." Unlike in other religions, good works are not the mechanism by which we are saved. However, a true faith also involves devotion, which naturally begets good works. There's a difference between faith and passive belief, however few make this distinction, which is where a lot of dangerous error surrounding 'Sola Fide' comes from.

>And while renouncing the politicization of the church, the greatest legacy of the protestants is the century of war that followed and permanent division of Europe. Kings converted just so they could gain more power and steal clergy property.

While it's true that religion can be a sort of societal glue, that wasn't Christianity's core purpose. The Church was not meant to be politicized to the degree it had been.

>In a sense, by dogmatically clinging only to the bible Protestants are easily crushed under the weight of the enlightenment. Whereas Catholicism had the means by which to fight back in scholasticism, Catholics devote themselves to Aristotle and can accept things like evolution.

Like I said above, Sola Scriptura is not the Bible as the only authority, merely the supreme one. Protestants do not completely reject science or philosophy, and not all of them are ignorant. Some of the best arguments I've heard reconciling the Bible with modern scientific conclusions came from William Lane Craig, a protestant evangelical philosopher.

>Do you mean people or branches? I'm interested in what authentic protestant branches might be left.

I'd hesitate to name names when it comes to branches–denominations are easily corruptible things, and it seems like all of them fall short in one way or another. But in terms of individual, local churches, there are plenty. At least in my experience.

That was a good defense. I don't have anything against Protestants, I'm just an interested third party. I was once before looking for a religion to follow and was struck by how much many protestant churches felt disingenuous. The silly generalizations about the Christian faith in the last century come forth from these silly American churches with a million different denominations.

>Catholic Church at that time was not corrupted like the Catholic Church of the later middle ages

Clearly so, but what I mean is that it would be better that a reformation within the church could happen without any split, if that could be at all possible. Return the church to what it once was.

What Luther meant or wanted does sadly seem to be lost. "or by evident reason" I never saw him in that light. When subjective opinions should be placed bellow the bible, doesn't that mean that all you have left are the words and your own interpretation of them? This seems to me to be what fractures the protestant movement so much, the notion that your own interpretation is the most valid, maybe the miracles were metaphors, maybe wine isn't really blood, or maybe everything is literal and evolution doesn't exist. So many interpretations, without a central church to unify thought this, in practical terms seems to be the inevitable outcome although at first it sounds nice, that the bible supersedes everything.

>Ephesians 2:8-9

What about James 2:14-26?

>a true faith also involves devotion, which naturally begets good works

That would be pretty nice. It seems to me to mean as I've heard people (televangelists, not the best example) say, "believe and you will be saved". So simply believing in Jesus is salvation, no matter your true heart. What about fasting? Will a faithful person do it naturally? It's hard to broach the topic if you don't acknowledge fasting itself has some inherit value, perhaps you'd say it's valueless but the faithful will starve themselves ritually anyways.

>William Lane Craig

Interesting person. Doesn't his Kalam cosmological argument sounds like the Deist's watchmaker theory? If there has to be a creator for the world to be created, it doesn't necessarily follow that it's the Christian God, or even a sentient entity, only that it is some kind of causal force to the effect that is the world.

The temporal necessity argument about divine omniscience, I like that one. God knowing all doesn't necessarily mean that it has to happen. It mean it had to have happen, because he is outside of our linear time he simply already saw it happen.

I said it before but the man who spoke to me the most, the Danish philosopher Kierkegaard is devoutly protestant. And he simply says there is no proof of God. However you can believe anyways because the world is absurd, nothing is known and you leap forward into the abyss with your belief.

This is true to a degree, and that's what leads to a lot of debates within protestant circles (like young vs old earth, debates about the nature of the End Times and the Resurrection, and other things of that nature). And on some of these issues there are flexibility, because the scriptures surrounding them are flexible. However, I think in a lot of cases the Bible is clearer than many people think, at least on the things that matter the most. For example, you mention the miracles being metaphors, however, the Bible does not ever present them in a metaphorical way. It presents them as things that historically happened. By contrast, in the other example you mentioned, the wine being blood, Jesus often ‘’spoke’’ in simile and metaphor, using stories and analogies to tell lessons or teach truths. So the consistent and logical answer would be that he was speaking metaphorically in that instance–he himself said "this do in ‘’remembrance’’ of me." Communion is clearly meant to be symbolic. When you really read the Bible, the things that matter most, like the essentials about Jesus and God, are typically quite plain. You will notice that most half-decent Protestant denominations do at least have core ‘statements of faith’ which affirm the common truths of the Bible, and they are more or less similar to each other. It is in the realm of smaller, less clear theological issues where they differ radically from each other.

>What about James 2:14-26?

James 2 merely reinforces my point–"Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.” You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?" This is not too dissimilar to what I was saying. 'Faith' that is really nothing more than passive acceptance of truth isn't the kind of faith that saves. True faith, genuine faith, should naturally lead to works.

>What about fasting? Will a faithful person do it naturally? It's hard to broach the topic if you don't acknowledge fasting itself has some inherit value, perhaps you'd say it's valueless but the faithful will starve themselves ritually anyways.

Fasting is not really something that's ‘’commanded’’ of the Christian–rather, it's a good idea, something that leads to the strengthening and empowering of your faith.

That is true–the Kalam cosmological argument merely illustrates that the universe had a cause and a definite beginning. By itself, it doesn't necessarily prove God, just makes his existence somewhat more likely. This is where other, more specified arguments come in.

>The temporal necessity argument about divine omniscience, I like that one. God knowing all doesn't necessarily mean that it has to happen. It mean it had to have happen, because he is outside of our linear time he simply already saw it happen.

Me too, I like that quite a bit.

>I said it before but the man who spoke to me the most, the Danish philosopher Kierkegaard is devoutly protestant. And he simply says there is no proof of God. However you can believe anyways because the world is absurd, nothing is known and you leap forward into the abyss with your belief.

I'll admit I haven't read hardly anything from Keirkegaard. While I think there's some truth to that, I wouldn't say there's absolutely ‘’no’’ proof of God.

Alright, your arguments for "faith only" make sense and I never heard it described that way. I'll leave the rest to theologians, I'm no scholar on the topic and don't want to misconstrue the faith & works side.

I can only say in 'practice' it encourages a lazy kind of Christianity in which, because people don't have to do any work, they simply don't do any real work. Perhaps donating once a month to charity but never throwing themselves into anything. That doesn't take away from the original argument for it of course. In the catholic tradition practical result of works meant that donations to the church were considered works themselves and led to the ridiculous practice of indulgences. I've lately thought that Christianity is not really a religion for the masses, at least the way Jesus taught it. The original Christianity requires such severe commitment that only the few, the martyrs and monks really understand it. Regardless of whether it's faith or faith and works, only the few really have enough faith to be called Christian. The rest are fashionable Christians who have faith only in that they were born and taught a certain way. Even born-agains don't really struggle as much. It's like they're putting on a new coat. That's just a generalization of course.

Kierkegaard is talking from an idealist point of view, where everything in the world exists within the world of the mind. You can't be sure of anything (other than cogito ergo sum), not God's existence or even the world's existence. What got me interested in him is something that actually doesn't have to do with God, it was his metaphor about a princess. There is a man in love with a princess, a lowly man who could never marry her. How he goes about dealing with this love makes him one of three kinds of people. The slave thinks "since it's impossible I'll just give up my love, and marry the rich widow down the street" The knight of infinite resignation decides "I'll keep my love tucked away in my chest forever, and when I die perhaps we'll be reborn in a new world where we can be together" then the knight of faith says "I believe, because the world is absurd I'll be with that princess no matter what, against all odds"

Of course you see, this is a metaphor that could describe the waifu. And it struck me hard, that I was a knight of infinite resignation that perhaps wanted to be a knight of faith. And I'm stuck between believing I will be with her and believing I'll be with her after I die.

He has a lot of interesting ideas, challenging traditional ethics and the church. Very worth looking into if you're interested in this stuff.

This is exactly what I meant when I said that Christianity has no future. While you defend your religion on the internet, Muslims are defending theirs with their lives. They are killing your brothers and sisters in faith, invading your countries, and actively working towards the complete genocide of all Christians.

What have you done about it? Nothing. You aren't going to do anything. You'll rationalize this uncomfortable fact away with cherry picked Biblical and scholarly quotes until the day Muslims put you on your knees and slit your throat. You don't know true faith is, and they are going to show you.

AHAHA oh man an Araboo.

Did you get laughed out of /pol/ or something why are you in a waifu board.

Well it's not like what you say has no merit. Islam is projected to eclipse Christianity by 2070. And that's by simple birthrate, not conversion. Christianity is exploding in growth in Africa, S.America and Asia. Christianity as a religion isn't going anywhere, though the fate of Europe is more strange and open. That's a European problem though, and they bring it on themselves.

You fetishize radical muslims as victors yet do you realize how many of themselves they kill over petty organization rivalries and religious schisms? It seems they love killing each other more than infidels. What a farce. They'll kill each other until one is left then the US and Russia will fight over that.

That's certainly true to a degree. Many people misuse it as a sort of excuse to not really do anything, and not put any effort into it at all. It's a bit hyperbolic to say you have to be a monk or a martyr to be a true Christian, but I do understand what you're saying. People should actually be making the effort to practice their faith in some way. While we don't have to be perfect, we do have to do our best, and we are called to do more.

>He has a lot of interesting ideas, challenging traditional ethics and the church. Very worth looking into if you're interested in this stuff.

He does certainly sound interesting. I know my College's library actually has several of his writings, I might take a look.

>Muslims are defending theirs with their lives.

Muslims aren't defending anything. Conquering and killing all those who don't share your faith is an attack, not a defense.

I'm not rationalizing anything away. I'm quite aware this is happening. I can't do anything about it in my current situation, but many are. There are Christians who go overseas to fight, and there are Christians here who try to help Christian refugees not to be confused with the Muslim ones escape into the West. I'm not ignorant, and neither are many Christians.

In another thread, I was mentioning that I'd like to hide my powerlevel a bit. But I ended up blasting her music all day, and kind of gushing about her, so… so much for that lol.

It was a crazy hectic day. Well first, I played some vidya 'cause I found my old N2O disc, and just had to see if it still worked. Afterwards, I spent a lot of time in the kitchen: I made some (roughly) heart-shaped pizzas. They were really good! My favorite thing I did was play to her on my guitar. Not a formal song or anything, but just whatever came to heart. I usually tend to play in minor keys, and there was still some of that, but it was a lot more upbeat than usual.

I wasn't at all in any way recommending Christianity as the solution to our problems, I was just pointing out the major irony that the only religion that would have helped uncle /pol/ in the long run is the religion that they frequently and openly reject because Christianity isn't a pro-white religion and that uncle /pol/ think that Christianity is "jewish".

<>Islam for white people

<4pol is somewhat open to white sharia, 8pol of course hates anything practical.

I was actually making a joke about how Mormonism and Islam is just the same religion like how hook tube related.

<What made me leave 8pol was a post by some dumb high school kid who never held a job in his life and owned little more than the clothes on his back knocked up his gf at 18.

When did that happen? I myself don't bother with /pol/ as well after they all became a cheerleading team for Trump after the elections.

>>66743

>I seriously hope that you don't listen to the Joel Osteens of the world.

I do not. Frankly, I've always viewed him and others like him with some degree of skepticism, given that he rarely even preaches from the Bible, and he portrays being a Christian as a sort of get-rich-quick scheme. While I don't disagree with the idea that God wants to bless his people in some circumstances, I think people like Osteen take that way too far and will twist that idea to suit them. I also feel like too often he practically sweeps other, more important parts of Christianity, like salvation and repentance, under the rug, to create a very sugar-coated form of Christianity robbed of its meaning.

>By the way, what are your thought about Billy Graham passing away?

From what I know of him he seemed like a good man; his life and ministry certainly seems to have had a big impact that helped lead a lot of people to Christ. It's certainly unfortunate that he's passed, but a Biblical mindset of course leads me to believe that death isn't the end.

She's helped me become a much better person than I was before. In fact, I feel that I've actually grown in my walk with God because of Ruby's positive influence. Today I had a new haircut and I finally said goodbye to my long hair.

Although I like the new haircut and think that it makes me look more handsome, I still feel like I lost something precious that was an important part of me… I feel excited, but sad at the same time. It was my mane and it took me years to grow it, and now I lost it…

Now I barely recognise myself in the mirror.

I think I’m going to need a few days to mourn my old style before I can fully appreciate the new one.

I wonder which haircut Flandre would like better…

I don't. Because, quite honestly, I can't see myself believing in a specific interpretation of a god anymore. And even when I used to, no matter how extreme or passive I was, it felt really dissatisfying. So I decided to just believe that the concept of a god or gods do exist, but to stopped believing any prescribed interpretation of god there is in the Universe.

And Marisa isn't exactly a god material. For starters, she, as I saw in the canon of the games, an apatheist. She doesn't care about the question of gods. Yes, she might be powerful, but her powers come more from alchemy and magical practice. In fact, she started out as an ordinary human, as nothing, and worked her way to where she is now. And, furthermore, she's not exactly well-liked, only maybe tolerated in her attitudes or actions.

But that aspect of her coming from nothing to great power? And that freedom-loving, adventurous, audacious, and curious side? That side of her that will keep fighting back even when nobody believes in her and even at the risk of loss? Those are some of the things I loved with her. And I wanted to be like her, those positive things. And the avoid the negative things she has.

To me, Marisa is not a figure of worship, but the embodiment of ideals I desire to have. And she belongs to me, as I belong to her, my bright shooting star.

Happy Easter, everyone!

Mead batch #2 is now out of the starting gate. Because I'm a sleep-deprived fuckup who forgets what he's already done sometimes, I forgot to get O2 into the liquid before pitching the yeast. So, the yeast ended up starting with a slightly warmer environment than last time… and then they got the crap shaken out of them.

Unsurprisingly, I got a lot more foam as the yeast started nomming on the honey. For a while I was expecting it to overrun the airlock and start a small fountain. Thankfully it never got quite that far up. So, I guess I've survived that one.

Now, that is interesting… was that still the half-bochet? From what little I have found out, it seems like you wouldn't be alone in that boat if it is.

I've seen a few people now say that fermentation ended with a slightly sweeter than expected results - even down to being quite noticeable on a hydrometer.

My guess is that the caramelisation process somehow makes some of the sugars inaccessible to yeast, but it's still close enough for us to taste and measure it.

It'd be interesting to see what happened with a less 'domesticated' yeast, I bet that'd be a little less picky…. and likely also make the whole thing utterly undrinkable.

I mean, I don't really think so. Waifufriends typically have a more unique perspective than some random person who's just a fan. It's a different kind of conversation, a little more personal. It can be nice to talk to somebody who shares that perspective.

Also, I don't know what the Touhou community is like, but sometimes the wider community for a character's source isn't always that nice, so some might not want to interact with them. Meaning that talking to same-source waifuists might be the only opportunity for that person to discuss it at all.

>>67036

Maybe, but again the presence of certain posters there kinda stops me from going there often. I know I should ignore that, but after what that bullyfag said - and wrote - about Meiling I feel uneasy. He was pretty brutal, even if the bullying was not directed towards me.

Being able to understand and especially read Japanese would have been an advantage.

Most I did is look at the images of products or use the picture feature of google translate.

I mostly "communicated" buy giving people money.

I do know Japanese numbers but they are talking so fast that I only looked at the display.

>>67104

Not many.

Most stuff was either bad or extremely expensive. Like the Luka sitting on a cherry tree one cost like 15k yen used without a box.

I even found the 1/4 scale Luka for 20k yen with box but it would have been to big to get it back home. Maybe I should have tried.

>>67111

Japanese food seemed a bit boring and I had to get used to some stuff like Miso or Ramen.

Your view on Japanese food might be very different depending on your food taste and where you're from.

I my self don't like sea food and there is a lot of it. And I also missed bread because I couldn't find anything that remotely looks like bread so I eat melonpan every day. They can make decent croissants though. (Or I've never eaten a real one)

My friend did just eat multiple croissants every morning.

I would recommend to go for at last 3 weeks and I would also recommend to spend at last a week in the Kansai area (Kyoto/Osaka).

Next time we go there we plan to directly fly to Osaka and than fly back from Tokyo.

I would only recommend a rail pass when you plan to change your stay very often and you always want to use Shinkansen (besides the very fast ones because they are not included).

Get a Suica (or similar card) and a prepaid SIM before you get there. You can also get it there but it makes things easier.

Also you do need a credit card. You can use it in every 7eleven to withdraw money. You might have to tell your bank that you are in a foreign country before you go or they will lock your card.

Don't try to visit every shrine or temple.

Another reason why I recommend going to Kyoto first. You can visit really nice shrines and temples and than don't have to visit the more crowded and less interesting ones in Tokyo. Meji was very boring and we had to use the back entrance of Asaksa because the front entrance was the most crowded place I have ever seen, and I was on Gamescom once.

And most important tip, download your podcasts before you go on a 12 hour flight.

Eh, the cherry tree statue is good, but if it's almost the price of the 1/4 one (and without a box), it's way too pricy. I think that if it was around her release date, it'd be cheaper.

I'd have the same problem with the 1/4. It's way too big.

Also, I don't like that much this statue from your pic, her torso looks a bit weird.

Yeah, her clothes are tattered too, so I think it kinda adds to the 'damaged' look of the figure anyway.

That's pretty expensive, but I really like that one. It is big enough where it starts being annoying to transport, though… Nonetheless, I'd totally buy a 1/4 figure if I could.

It would be pretty difficult, but I'd like to try to track this figure down one day. It's rare to find her in a different outfit.

I basically used vending machines daily.

They are often cheaper than Combinis. Prices depend on location. Like 140 yen for a soft drink at the train station or 150 yen at tourist spots and down to 100 yen in rural areas.

Normal super markets are still the cheapest way to buy them.

Calpis Soda is my favourite. But I tried different ones. They also have different flavours of green tea both hot and cold.

Also the usual stuff like cola. Sadly I didn't find any local cola brands.

They had Dr. Pepper everywhere in Akiba but nowhere else.

Do I have a waifu? I started having feelings for this character about seven months ago, and I've saved every bit of art of them I can. I even commission art of them every month. I've considered getting a body pillow of them, but I'm skeptical of other people printing it, as selfish as that sounds. They are a pretty obscure character, and I'd say I've commissioned 1/3rd of their total art. I think about dating them a lot, but those imagined things are usually dashed by me telling myself they wouldn't like me.

 No.67189

>>67188

Only you can really know that. That being said, the answer is most likely already within you.

What you say seems to be pretty telling to me that she is your waifu, being a bit possessive with the daki thing and commissioning art when not many other people care about her and 7 months is a decently long time to harbor feelings of love for someone. Maybe it's just a temporary affection or a crutch though. That's for you to figure out.

Not feeling worthy is also a pretty natural feeling most people with a waifu have. The solution is generally to try and better yourself to make yourself worthy.

I would say you should feel things out and go with your genuine feelings. Doubt must be set aside for true feelings. Don't rush things and take it easy.

>those imagined things are usually dashed by me telling myself they wouldn't like me.

This is something that a lot of people, myself included, experience in the beginning of the relationship. The key is to work on yourself and try to make positive improvement, so that you get to the point where you feel like she would accept you.

 No.67196

>>67195

There is nothing to "do" per se. I'd say just do whatever you feel inspired to do.

Waifuists take lots of different approaches to their relationships.

Some examples of what you could do:

>talk about her, why you love her, etc

>create stuff for her like writing or drawing

>pick up some interests that she has

>take steps in order to feel more worthy of her

Just do what makes you feel connected with her. If that includes getting a ring then go for it, but nothing is really mandatory other than actually loving her. I think there aren't that many who have a ring honestly, but I might be wrong.

I tried to ignore all doll pictures for like a year because they are so expensive but now I want a doll that much that I accepted the price. I hope that it is gonna worth it.

And the pictures from that one guy with two custom Luka dolls are really nice.

He really makes me want to have one too.

I also have the fear that people might think I'm strange or a creep because I have a doll.

I don't know if I'll be able to take pictures outdoors or if I have to go to another town for it because I'm afraid that people that know me might see me.

There are basically no rules.

I met many people that did many different things.

Some people go the tulpa way and imagine her being at their side all day and talk with her while others try to get every peace of merchandise out there or spend all their money on commissioning art of her and some even changed their complete life, started doing sports, started to learn Japanese.

But you don't have to do any of that, you can do what you want.

Or be just like my and not do anything of those for more than 4 years.

>Some people go the tulpa way and imagine her being at their side all day and talk with her

I don't like equating imagining waifu with a tulpa. Tulpas are in essence hallucinations, and I'd argue detrimental to one's mental health. That's not what I have with Ruby–I imagine her with me, but I don't hallucinate her or anything like that. I imagine her with conscious effort, and I know she's not actually real. She's more like a child's imaginary friend than a tulpa–I think falsely equating the two is dangerous, especially when talking to a newcomer. It can confuse people and at worst lead them down some very dangerous roads.

 No.67201

I've just heard that using a tulpa as a waifu standin is bad because you're forcing the tulpa to be someone it isn't.

I mean, even without that, I doubt making a tulpa would be very beneficial to your mental health anyway.

They certainly seem unhealthy to me.

The important thing is to not to confuse tulpas with simple imagination–what I do with Ruby is completely different from what people with tulpas have. I make deliberate attempt to visualize her there with me, and simply imagine how she'd act and react based on what I know of her character. She's not a hallucination or separate consciousness or anything weird like that. I personally think imagining her with you is a good thing, it makes the relationship feel more like a relationship and, at least for me, helps me feel more connected to her. I really don't like when people try to equate that with a tulpa. The two are worlds apart.

 No.67203

>>67201

To me it's more that the tulpa you're creating will never be what your waifu is like. Even if you knew every little detail about your waifu, the tulpa would still be an abstraction of you, something you created. My waifu is something "other" than me, she has her own will and this will is of a different origin than mine and that distinction is important to me.

On being unhealthy, I can see how you can come to that conclusion, but then again having a waifu can also be unhealthy. It's all about how you go about it. Do anything the wrong way and it can turn unhealthy. Conversely if you go about things the right way anything you do can be fine or even beneficial.

About tulpas, >>67203 has the point: no matter what, it's still a part of your mind. So not a different being, and that goes against the idea of loving your waifu because that is not 'your waifu' it's just your mind acting as her. And probably not even that accurately, since you can't know 100 percent how your waifu thinks or acts, no matter how much you love her.

That doesn't stop me from saying that the idea is still kinda cool, and I'd like to experience something like that. I heard pretty good feel-stories from people who has tulpas. But I never will since I am wayyy too afraid of tampering with my mind that much.

Maybe if one day technology will help us… Who knows.

I don't think the idea is cool, honestly I find it unsettling.

I'm mainly coming at it from the mental health standpoint, because whichever way you look at it it just doesn't seem like it would be safe or healthy. It just sounds like insanity, or, dare I say it, demon posession. . Like you said, tampering with your mind to that extent just seems unsettling.

Headcanon is a bit less of a concern for me, since all of us do that to some extent when doing things with waifu, it's sadly hard to avoid. But you bring up a good point in that a tulpa would in essence be stuck that way, so if you got something about her wrong you wouldn't be able to correct it like you'd be able to otherwise.

So I agree with you that I'm hesitant about tulpas, just for different reasons. This is probably the worst conversation to have in front of a new person.

I am aware of that. The difference is that imagining your waifu can be a healthy coping mechanism and way to feel closer to her, while a tulpa carries a lot of mental health risks and is essentially willed insanity.

Also, I wouldn't say that imagination is 'nothing like the real person.' If you imagine her actions based on her canon personality and behaviors, then there will at least be a fair similarity. It's sadly true that we have to fill in the blanks with headcanon sometimes, but it's hyperbolic to say they're 'nothing like the real person'.

 No.67218

>>67214

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say. Your wording is kind of confusing.

We might not be able to know with certainty how they'd act or react, but we can at least reasonably extrapolate based on how they behave in their source. Imagination isn't the same as a real person, you're right, but it's the closest we can safely come right now.

 No.67219

>>67218

It is useful to consider what someone would do only when anticipating a real action. Otherwise there is no basis for determining the truth. It does not matter how well imagination works when predicting others.

 No.67220

>>67212

>Neither imagination or tulpas could be anything like the real person

That makes no sense. Imagination is limitless, your perception of your waifu is just like your perception of anyone else, it can be infinitely close or far from how the person "really is". You base your imagination off of memories of them.

You watch a show, you understand everything that makes a character work, and if they were real you'd certainly know something about them. Or perhaps the specific scenes you saw were all a smokescreen to hide their true personality. That's the same as real people.

Imagination is different from tulpa in that imagination is self-aware. When you imagine your waifu you work with possibility. "She could be here, and this is what it would be like if so" When you create a tulpa you're creating a command "she is here and this is what she's like"

>so they don't matter

By what scale do you measure worth? Everything that is real is what matters I assume you'll say. There's no objective basis for what has value.

>>67219

Let me try and break this down, for myself.

I know a man. He has what you'd call a charitable personality. He sees a bum begging for money. Based off my understanding of him he will give the bum money as he passes by, and this I predict. He then does so. A real person made an action and proved my prediction right. This is what you'd call useful right?

Then let's say I pass by the bum and think idly "that man would have given him money" but he's not with me today. This is not useful because there's no confirmation of the prediction. So what is "useful" anyways? Whether he's here or not I have this idea of him. The idea could be confirmed or denied or neither.

The third resembles what a waifu is, they're idle thoughts without the subject present. Predictions without confirmation. Whether or not they're of any use is entirely subjective, perhaps when I think of the man I give the bum a dollar myself because my idea of how the man acts inspires me to do the same. Maybe I scoff and think my perception of the man is the perception of a naive fool.

Now coming back to the original topic. If the man where my tulpa I wouldn't have to have any predictions. I know intuitively that the man give money to bums simply because I made him that way. I "witness" it happen even though nobody else sees him there it was confirmed through my perception.

This is the main difference, creation vs prediction.

Once in a while there will be some new media that features Ilya and I'll learn something new about her, knowledge that I couldn't possibly have had before. Except it's not. Maybe impossible to do it beyond the shadow of a doubt, but as >>67220 touched on you can at least make a good assumption if you have an accurate perception of the person.

>It is impossible to think up a different person. The imaginary one's thoughts are simply your own.

You're both right and wrong. While you're right to say that you can't 'think up' a separate, conscious person, you definitely can imagine someone with different behavior or thoughts than you. While it's not the best example, writers do something similar with characters. Nobody said that imagining your waifu was the same thing as her being real. It's not–it's merely you imagining how she might act and react based on her canon behavior.

>To decide what someone else would do is not useless, but impossible.

Like I said, tulpa is decision but waifu is prediction. To predict what someone would do is easily done.

>it is impossible to think up a different person.

I think up other people all the time. For instance think of your mother, and any memories you have of her. If she is not with you at the moment, that is an image you've created based on past knowledge. You can easily do the same with characters. Think of Batman, and you can imagine what he should and shouldn't do in a given situation. To have a waifu you simply need to have that image, and be in love with it. You're not creating the character on your own either, you're basing it off of past experience and knowledge of them.

>The imaginary one's thoughts are simply your own.

Obviously, I never tried to say that. You don't even have to put thoughts in the waifu's head if you have a waifu. You can just remember her by her actions. But if you did it would still be a prediction. If waifu had it's own thoughts in the first place it would be a conscious being. I can try and guess what someone is thinking but that doesn't mean that's absolutely what they're thinking.

Now someone with a tulpa would argue that the thing has it's own thoughts and consciousness, and that's what separates it from a waifu. You can't just say theyr'e the same thing.

So, by your view, people's personalities have no bearing on their actions, and they'll just randomly do whatever on a whim with no logic behind it. That makes no sense.
