Alright, so there were several of us talking about waifu games in the IRC last night, and Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires came up. I figured I might as well throw out a bit of information out there if people were interested.
Those not familiar with the series, Dynasty Warriors takes place during the Romance of the Three Kingdoms era (China from about 0-300 AD according to in-game info). The series is know for it's fast combos, insane combos, and having personal kill counts in the thousands at the end of each battle. The Empires version, however, allow you to make your own custom characters and use them in the main campaign. That obviously includes waifus as well.
The campaign consists of a base/strategy phase where you can do various things like raise your resources, butter up your superiors, take on quests, or jump into battles. Once you choose to join a battle, it's a simple transition to the battle overview screen and a single additional click throws you into battle. From there you and your allies attempt to capture enemy bases while eliminating enemy officers at the same time. You can play how you want, either as a free warrior wandering the lands, an officer under a ruler, or as a king of your own land.
As far as character creation goes, it's not the best one out there, but it's fairly large and capable at creating a multitude of characters. On the down loader I've managed to find several waifus, characters from popular games (Link, Ganondorf, Gods from SMITE, etc.), characters from anime (Several from bleach, several from Naruto, and perhaps the best of all, the one and only DIO), and many more. Faces are edited with sliders and have individual parts, bodies are changeable, a multitude of voices to choose from costumes are purely cosmetic so you can mix and match parts as you want, and many, many, many weapons to choose from.
The pros:
-Fun gameplay that scales through the campaign. You may first find yourself a God of War, then later down the line find yourself struggling to take on multiple opponents at once.
-You can fight alongside your waifu
-You can be confessed to by your waifu
-You can marry your waifu
-You can do special combo attacks with your waifu
-You can have a child with your waifu
-Your child can grow up and become a warrior as well
Neutral:
-No English voices, only Japanese with subs
-Character uploader/downloader
-Models are more 3D instead of anime styled
The Cons:
-Price tag, unless you don't mind pirating
-The amount of DLC and prices (You don't need any of it really though)
-Combat may get repetitive after a while
-To veterans the added features from past games might seem to be lacking
That's the gist of it at least, may not be for everyone but it's got potential.
