-"But why…"-he starts, but his tongue doesn't heed-
He pauses for a calming breath,
"Of all the things that you can ask of me..
Why must you ask for your own death?"
-"I owe you this much"-comes her soft reply-
"To care for your own good,
For you showed me love, and gave me my life"
-"Such cruel grattitude!"
-"It hurts to watch you live a lie,
It's high time you awoke,
The world holds greater good to find,
Than me- mirrors and smoke."
-"But you brought peace into my life,
Made bearable this tragic farse,
Like armour to shield me from all harm…"
-"A brittle suit of brilliant shards!
Beautiful, yet hollow,
I try to soothe your pain,
But what's born from your sorrow,
Can't make it go away."
-"I still need the strenght,
you provide, to go on"
-"Don't belittle yourself,
All that strenght is your own."
-"What help could it be,
For my love to die?
If you're tired of me,
You don't need to lie!"
-"You're my whole world"-she says, a loving smile on her face-
"A world I'd rather leave,
Than watch it slowly rotting away,
All because of me."
-"And what is your crime?
Your tender embrace?"
-"It's a fetter, taht binds you,
It holds you in place."
-"What could a lonely future hold?!"
-"I am sure, you'll handle this.
If you love it, let it go…"
-"Even into the abyss?!"
He goes silent, musters a nod of understanding,
And begins to extinguish the flame in his mind,
As if using a pillow to hasten one's passing,
As she starts to fade, she forces a smile,
He knows it'll take days, maybe months even,
And to choke out the guilt will take longer still,
Of fullfilling her wish, for him to start living,
A part of your own mind is a hard thing to kill…
