What's your thing /mai/? Would it affect your relationship? If yes- how?

For me it's biology( terraristics, enthmology, and specimen preservation, to be exact). Most people seem opposed to the idea of keeping scorpions and such in your house( though I stay away from the lethal ones), and disgusted by the corpses( mostly invertebrates) I work with( Ethcs-wise I'm fine, since I never kill for the sole purpose of expanding my collection, and find the very thought abhorrent).

I see how it could lead to some conflict, judgng by the general tendency.

Since she has no cannon stance on the subject, I like to think she'd( at least reluctantly) accept it. Maybe even catch on, to some degree.

As for the other things I do, they might actually work in my favour. I think she'd like my artistic attempts.

 No.42824

My thing is food. Sweets in particular. I don't think it affects my relationship with Isaac any, but I know he doesn't personally enjoy it. However, if he were to perhaps share some of my 'bucks with me..

We get along great but she has to play pool outside or she's gunna hurt somebody.

I like statistics and analyzing data, and by extension economics. I consume information for sustenance.

She's bored by the book learning stuff, but loves money. Although she seemingly doesn't understand, and certainly doesn't care about economics, I'm sure she appreciates the fact I can always collect additional funding. She likes it more when I obtain it through treacherous and debatably immoral ways.

There's also a shared appreciation for wordplay.

I usually put my hobbies under two categorizes Dank meme which counts for most of them like vidya, yugioh, chinese cartoons, pokemans Cheerleading

The other thing is Jojo which counts for jojo shenanigans and things relating to jojo.

I have no fucking idea how it would work.

Oh boy, a Hanakobro? Glad to meet you.

I play vidya, the bass, and write. I also do Historical European Martial Arts(HEMA).

I think Lilly would love to hear me play the bass for her, considering she's a musician who plays the cello herself. And I'd like to show her my writing if I could translate it to braille.

The HEMA stuff I can't see her being into, but I think she'd like to have a guy with such abilities around.

Writing, creating characters, collecting data on certain things, making lists, sorting and categorizing, gaming, fashion, music.

I don't believe any of those would cause issue as long as I worked time in with my waifu and didn't just totally ignore her.

I once was putting together a database of everything I owned starting with every yugioh card I have I kinda feel like doing that still

>Cooking

>Creative Stuff (in general–spans a lot of stuff)

>Reading, mostly non-fiction

>Vidya

>fringe stuff

Things I'd like to try/get into sometime:

>Bodybuilding

>Leatherworking

>Woodworking

>Model Building

>Sewing, sort of started a bit

>Programming

>Video Editing

>Learning languages

>Outdoors stuff in general

>Permaculture

We coincide with a lot of it. She might even get in to some of the ones she's not interested in with me. She'd find some of them boring/useless but I'm sure she'd have a few like that too.

Obviously not get proficient at all of them but it's fun to have a wide net of interests you're okay at with a few you really hone.

Well, first, is probably baking, which I would enjoy teaching to Miia.

In the manga she's an awful cook, but it's explained later that it's due to carnivores usually having a much weaker sense of taste than omnivores or herbivores (even though from what we've seen of Miia she's an omnivore) so even when she is taste testing her food, it still comes out awful.

I think baking would be easier for her, and when my parents where together, my mom always baked and did sides and stuff, and my dad always handled meat or the main dish.

No bullshit, just both of them doing what they liked and where best at.

I want that with Miia, two of us working in the kitchen working to make a nice full meal for ourselves.

But if she was still bad at it, I would have just as much fun cooking for her.

The second is animal care

Sadly I don't have much experience with reptiles, but I do with fuck load of everything else.

I can't really imagine a time growing up where we didn't have at least 10 pets

Had the max number of dogs we where allowed to own in the city limits (3), had a bunch of cats that where raised together with the dogs, sometimes a rabbit, always had a few pet rats, a bird, and others. And that was just at home, I also volunteered at a wildlife rehabilitation center for a number of years where I help care for the animals brought to us to release them back into the wild, and also took the ones that where healthy but too imprinted/not able to live outside of captivity due to lasting injury, and held events with them, from doing assemblies for schools, or fundraising events, we would usually take our most well behaved raptors and teach kids about them. Or I would handle birds for people taking guided tours of the facility while their guide talked about them, or same if I ran into a tour while taking the wolf pups for a walk or something.

It was nice, and I think my general knowledge of animals would put Miia more at ease to not feel uncomfortable about her super sexy snek tail

I had too think for a minute but I realized I've learned more about cooking. Recently been trying my hand other various recipes even considering a career involving things like baking. She probably like me cooking for her and Lain. I'd make her KunKun cookies hehe.

I want too take on a more heavy handed hobbies one day but can't right now, like carpentry or metal work which could make me money as well.

>vidya

I wouldn't really call myself an avid gamer but I've been playing games all my life. I would want to play with Konata but I know full well she'd wipe the floor with me at any game we played together. I guess we'd just have to play coop.

>anime

Again, this is something I've been into for a very long time but I don't have a great taste in. I would defer to whatever she wanted to watch as I'm sure she has a better sense of it than I do.

>music

Here's where I shine and take the wheel. I want to use my headphone splitters to listen to music with her. I'd show her non-Japanese stuff mostly, broaden her horizons. See if ITAOTS can mean as much to her as it does to me. Cuddle on the bed together feeling the feels.

I also play guitar. I'd love to play for her and for us to have a sing-a-long together!

>computers

Here's where shit gets heavy. I'm a proud GNU/Linux user. My dual booted computer gets far more use out of the Void partition than the Windows partition, as GNU is not only free-as-in-freedom but also works a hell of a lot better than Windows if you can be bothered to put the effort into tinkering with it. Windows is shit if you put the effort in and downright unusable if you don't, but that's a /tech/ thread and not relevant here. Konata being Japanese is probably a Winpleb. I can foresee many interjections in the future here.

First off, I might be NEET at this time, but I am only marginally nerdy than the others around me, but nerdy enough to be considered an eccentric. But I'm a serial casual enthusiast of movies, music, video games and television shows, so there's that. Even then, I don't know everything. This is more likely to be a bit alienating to Marisa, given that she never really encountered electronic entertainment before.

On the other hand, if there's a definite hobby that I'm most knowledgeable at, it would be weapons and military stuff. And Marisa might like it, since she likes things that explode. That, plus her knowledge with alchemy and chemistry.

Same here. Hanako enjoys cooking, and I'd really like to get into it as well. I really like the thought of learning together and then sharing the pleasure/ ordeal of consuming our creation.

Cooking/baking: Other than he might gain some weight from all the delicious homemade food and sweets I make all the time if he can't control himself, I don't see how it would be a problem besides maybe spoiling him. If he wanted to help me cook, then we'd have problems because I prefer cooking solo and usually end up yelling at whomever I'm cooking with.

Sewing- clothes and doll making mostly: I think he would like that I can make clothes for him, especially costumes. He may get mad at how many dolls I make since they take up a lot of space and a majority of them are in his likeness, but they're all from fabric scraps so it's not costing any extra.

Fashion: He's into fashion too so it's something we do together, but I'm very opinionated about certain things so that could cause disagreements.

Reading: Other than having a ridiculous amount of smelly old books, I don't think it would be a problem. We sometimes read to each other books in our own languages and translate as we go.

Traveling/exploring: He likes seeing new places, but probably isn't used to traveling far distances as often as I do, so it may exhaust him. My traveling is usually filled with less relaxing activities like hikes and outdoor things, so I don't know how he would handle hikes longer than 20 miles, though he's made it on shorter ones that were more strenuous and dangerous. He also may or may not be afraid of heights, or maybe just rock bridges.

Music- mostly his: I don't know how he would feel about me constantly playing his music around the house (not sure if I even would listen to it around him if he were real since I can have the real deal) but I know he would be overjoyed to know how much I enjoy it. I write horrible songs for him that we sing together, but I can't understand instruments so that's something I wish he was here to help me with.

>Animu

I spend some time of my life watching Animu.

It didn't change when I met her.

>Vidya

I play some games some times. Not much. I was much more of a gamer in the past, but I'm still interested in Video Games, I watch reviews of most games that come out to keep looking for new games but I end up playing 10+ year old games or Paradox games, because they are awesome.

Luka prefers other types of games as I do, but I think I'd play her games with her.

>Music

It's not really a hobby of me. I have my "background" music all the time when I'm on my computer, only pause it when I watch videos or when I leave the computer.

I have some good quality audio stuff.

But I'm really bad at making music, I have a very small music collection, mostly none FLAC.

I don't need to say that Luka has some connection to music.

>Computer

I spend all day in front of it, but I wouldn't call it a hobby. When you go to a club every day to play darts, darts is you hobby and not going to the bar.

The computer is a tool to do things with for me.

I use GNU/Linux because it's the comfiest to use for me.

I wouldn't let Luka use harmful software.

>Writing

I wrote some bad fanfics in 2012 and rediscovered it this year and started to write some stories, including the /mai/ story thing.

Not that I ever ended one of them.

>Politics, War/Weapons,History and Palaeontology (and some living animal stuff)

I spend days on Wikipedia and other pages to find informations about Stuff I'll never need in my life.

>/mai/

I spend to much time here and on other waifu related places. But I think I'm not the only one.

I'm not sure if these count as hobbies or interests as I don't do all of them all of the time of course.

>Drawing

I've been drawing since a young age but I never really learned how to do so properly so I have to start over again from the fundamentals.

>Anime

I used to be really into it, but within the past year or so I haven't been watching as much. Not sure if it's because of burnout from following seasonal anime for ten years or a side effect of depression.

>Reading

I found it easier to read things I liked when it was handpicked for me in school. I don't really read much unless reading things online counts, which I don't think it does. Similar situation with manga where I prefer seeing it voiced and animated.

>Cartoons

I used to be more into these too but I've lost interest. I still check out the occasional stuff. I like rewatching older animated Disney films and complaining about how CGI has overtaken 2D animation in America.

>Video Games

I mostly play Nintendo and idolmaster games. I'm not that good so I mostly stick to casual stuff. I've been enjoying Splatoon though.

>Music

I've learned some more about it since meeting Chihaya. I mostly listen to it for pleasure rather than analyzing it. I'm not too picky with genre. I had learned a bit of piano but never really got farther with it after not having access to a school one. Playing actual taiko drums once was pretty fun too, but I only got to do so for a bit as teachers complained about the noise and they got taken away.

>>42901

Seconded about the Computer. It's more of an addiction or something used to do various things when I have nothing else to do. I'd put things like browsing online and chatting with others online under this too. I really dislike when others assume I know shit about computers just because I'm on one all day. That'd be like assuming they're phone or TV experts from watching TV or playing mobage all day.

>Comics

I'm still new to it comic book wise. I mostly got into it through animated DC stuff and Marvel movies. Batman's my favorite.

>General Japan/weeb stuff

Learning Japanese, learning more about Japan, listening to Japanese music, etc. I don't mention much as only others into Japan would be interested.

>Idol stuff

I like learning more about the history of Japanese idols, it's fans, learning the calls for songs, etc.

>Yo-Kai Watch

It gets it's own category as it's a multimedia addiction. I've only gotten into it during the past year, and now that it's coming overseas there'll be even more. Again something I don't get to talk about much because of Pokemon fans and people not being interested. I've been checking out more about Youkai and Japanese myth because of it too.

>Cooking/Baking

I've wanted to get into it more, but there's a lot of startup costs and having to buy a bunch of tools and ingredients for everything you want to make. That and my attempt at doing character chocolate failed because I didn't know how to melt white chocolate properly and burned it.

>>42879

I think I'll do a things I'd like to get into sometime too

>Sewing

>Video Editing

>More Model Building

>Working out

>Photography

The only thing that's really an issue is how much time I spend on the computer, but if I got more into other hobbies that wouldn't remain an issue anyways.

 No.42917

I don't think any of my interests would really clash much with him besides I have a big budding interest in horror stuff of any type. Surreal stuff too.

It's okay with me, he doesn't have to like everything I would and I still find tons of movies, games, etc for us to enjoy together.

He has a interest in military stuff, I don't know much about it, but I do and have before I even met him wanted to learn more. So that's not really a problem except it makes me a little sad that he'll never be the one to actually teach me about it.

He also likes crosswords, which I fucking suck at. But again I can't see that being a problem.

>Anime

I watch some every now and then.I don't think she would most of what I like.

The biggest thing to me is music. I actually think that Patchouli would appreciate some of the same kinds of music as I do. I think that black metal suits her temperament quite well. She probably wouldn't care too much for any of the cheesy power/speed/hair metal that I like, but the darkness of black metal really does suit her.

>cycling

That pretty much excludes her. I know that at least two blind people learned to ride mountain bikes by echolocation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_echolocation), but serious road trips through actual traffic are out. Even on a tandem I think she'd count as a co-driver, and I'm not sure if blind people are allowed to drive any vehicle on a public road in my jurisdiction.

>cooking

Yeah, I could probably learn a lot from her, since I mostly just do scrambled eggs or porkchops. Boiling stuff is my weak spot.

>tinkering with computer stuff

I'm very much into music. I listen to all types but I've been singing and performing "classical" types of music (religious [ie Christian], show tunes, jazz, art songs, arias, you get the gist) since I was very little, 3 or so.

I have… kind of a complicated history with it. I won't get into it because it's tl;dr and boring but basically I stopped doing anything related to music for a very long time and started listening to music again about two years ago, and now I'm actively practicing in a serious way just this past month. I'm really rusty and if I'm honest I'm beating myself up a little for letting myself fall this far. I'm not sure how he'd feel about me being so hard on myself, but I do think he'd be glad I'm doing this again. It was very hard for me to give up music, and while I don't regret the decision because I think I needed time away from it to deal with a few of my problems head-on without distractions, it sure is good to be back.

I didn't even think about this for a long time because I thought I was done with music entirely, but I guess I'm not. When I first started singing again, I wondered if it'd be something Keisuke would be bored by. Then I remembered that he originally was opposed to Akira fighting in Bl@ster according to the manga because he thought it was nothing but mindless brutality, but ended up finding it interesting and seeing some level of sportsmanship to it and came to every single one of Akira's matches to support him. I can't know for sure if he'd be into it, but I think he'd at least be more interested (and possibly bashful) when I (truthfully) tell him that I'm thinking about him every time I sing.

I'm also interested in religions in general and astrology. I'm not religious, I just find them fun to read and think about. I doubt he has much of an opinion on it, he'd probably shrug and think my fascination with it is strange but it wouldn't cause any conflicts. I have some other hobbies but those are the only two ones that would be considered strange or intense. Aside from maybe BL, but I think he might get into it or at least be okay with it if he gets past the initial "why the hell are you reading this" phase.

For him, he likes to read which I used to like to do but I don't read much anymore. I should probably read more because I like talking about books with him. This isn't hard canon but there's a lot of evidence that he likes to cook, which I don't object to. We like similar foods (although he likes things a little spicier than me) so no conflicts there. I'm not sure of his other hobbies but I'd love him regardless of what they were. I've been into some objectionable stuff in the past so I can't imagine anything that he could be into would bother me, especially with his personality type. I might get bored if it's sports related but that's fine, we don't have to like all the same stuff.

I tend to pick hobbies or activities that I can actually involve my waifu in with me. Like drawing her, animating her in 3D, and typesetting her doujinshi. None of this is theoretical; it does affect our relationship in a positive manner greatly. Normally just during the activity I feel much closer and a greater affection towards her, but when I actually complete something decent and can fully enjoy it myself with her it makes me real happy. I'm sure it makes her real happy as well, because I'm bringing her into my world myself and tightening our bond.

 No.45284

My main hobby is, and I've never found an easy way to say this, saving money. I love spending time planning things out and finding any possible way to save money. I'd give some examples, but really, it affects everything. I don't just go for the cheapest option available – rather, I do heavy cost-benefit analyses on everything I buy, and always aim to get the most value and most bulk for my buck.

This ties into my other hobby: Cooking. Specifically, cooking lots of healthy food on the cheap. I don't particularly care about flavour all that much, and I just see food as sustenance at this point. I've been able to feed myself well on $40 a month.

Finally, video games. A pretty expensive hobby due to computer parts and the like, but I mostly play retro games, or at least games that are old enough to play on my shitty gaming laptop. I need to use a laptop because I move around a lot, so having a desktop doesn't fit my needs very well at all.

How does this affect my relationship? Well…

My waifu is a spoiled brat who does not and most likely can not and will never understand the value of a dollar. I'm willing to step away from my minimalist lifestyle if it means spending money to keep her happy, but don't for a second think that I'm gonna cater to her every whim. She's gonna have to learn that she won't be getting every little thing she wants – at least not from me.

Cooking is handy. She's a vegetarian, and meat is expensive anyways. She seems to be fine with bland food, too, which is a plus. I definitely think cooking will come in handy, because I doubt she'd object to eating whatever I end up making. She has a severe fondness for sweets, though. I'm no good at making sweets and the expensive sweets are, well, expensive. I'll figure something out, though. Maybe it's time to learn how to bake a cake.

She has no idea what video games are, but I can imagine her getting into them. She'd likely never get good at them, but flashing lights and colours would be all you need to keep her entertained. I don't mind if she ends up being a filthy casual.

tl;dr

I'm cheap, she isn't. I'll make it work.

>Drawing

I don't do this very much anymore

>vidya/anime

He likes these things and I'm casually into them.

>Movies

I love movies and watch a lot of them but he likes watching them too so its nice.

>Music

The biggest thing for me and Kyousuke. We're both huge music buffs and are really into Alternative Japanese music. Though Kyousuke listens to mainly Japanese rock he doesn't mind listening to others and I enjoy showing bands to him! It's fun to sit and listen to albums together. We both have music collections as well which is fun too!

>Cooking

I want to cook for him all the time so this isn't an issue.

>Reading

He doesn't read that much but it would be nice to have him read to me some day. Maybe once I finally learn Japanese at least.

I can't think of anything else really but we share common interests and don't have any isssues with anything.

Video games

Toy collecting (nothing lewd, mostly just robot and kaiju toys with some vidya characters on the side. So SRC, Revoltech, SHMA, RD, etc.)

Drawing (I'm irredeemably awful at it, so not sure if it counts)

I doubt she'd mind any of these, except maybe toys if the room gets too cluttered or I spend too much money

My main things are anime, denpa music, and horror movies. I also like to draw a little.

Anime is just something I've been into for a long time. I'm really interested in visual novels too but the only one I've actually played so far is Fate/stay night. I'd like to change that eventually.

Denpa music kind of ties into anime. I listen to plenty of other stuff but denpa is my favorite genre by far. I don't think Kirei would have any problems with my interests in anime or denpa as long as I kept them to myself.

Now, horror movies are something I can see myself sharing with him. Fictional media usually isn't his thing but I think he'd at least be able to appreciate certain ones for their themes, and for all the suffering. Either way, he doesn't really have any hobbies himself unless mapo tofu can be considered a hobby so it's one way we could spend time together.

Drawing is number one.

Right now I'm trying to get gud but I'm not sure what to do with it in the future tbh. I've been doing it since I was a toddler and I've invested so much in it, I can't really see myself dropping it.

As for how it affects my relationship, I imagine him couching me and encouraging me even though he doesn't know much about it, but it helps me never the less. He's pretty all up for encouraging people to get good at what they like, something like that

Another thing I like to do is vidya but I'm not really an expert on all of them, I just autistically devote myself into one of them.

Maybe my husbando might like vidya to play on breaks but he doesn't see much use in it.

Sometimes I like to read but I'm not sure. I haven't been reading the books I bought from /lit/'s recommended for half a year. Fug I should really go back to that again.

My husbando's interests is 100% soccer. I want to go try that like reading up some magazines or watching the world cup or something. I'm sure he would really love it if we shared some interests.

I play vidya avidly, especially fighting games, which is something we could both get into I think. though she'd want to actually fight rather than play a game about it, I think the interest would carry over

I also love martial arts, I've taken several different classes and such, mainly Kajukenbo and Akido and a sprinkling of Muay Thai. I know we'd have a ton of fun sparring though I'd be struggling to keep up, for sure

Drawing is something I think she'd appreciate as well. and maybe she'd do some modeling for me

The only things I think would clash for us is my love for W40k, the actual tabletop game, not the vidya and DnD. I think she'd find both very boring and lose interest quickly. Though I could see her playing DnD and having at least some fun with it, or at least try to for my sake.

Her workout habits would not be my thing, I mean I lightly workout but I feel she'd take it to a new level. Jogging, gym memberships, all that jazz doesn't agree with my light weight training and morning pushup/situp routine. But hey, we can't have all the same interests, that'd make the relationship boring.

Vidya, going outside on a cloudy day, working my ass off to make things work, helping my friends the best I can, all of this could easily fit in between us and we'd have a great time whatever we'd do.

We both have a deep love and respect for nature and hunting. The first time I truely felt her presence was when I forced myself to be alone in the woods and erase the barrier between the universe and myself.
