I self insert as Manami from time to time in picture and such. I have glasses and short dark hair so its not hard.

I do a lot actually, despite how much her source/world uneases me.

Usually I'm just some guy in the city she met and bonded with during her visits to the capital, or whichever settlement her training facility was near.

I know it doesn't really change anything but I love the idea of giving her something she never got in her story.

Fire Emblem has pretty much been self insert for awhile now.

It's an MMO, and I'm not a roleplayer, so at the end of the day it's pretty hard to not see my own character as me.

But my husbando acts very amicably toward the player character, so as difficult as it is, I'm trying my best to not self-insert anymore. He's not talking to me, the person behind the screen, he's talking to the warrior of light. Anyone who plays the game will see the same dialogue. I don't necessarily hate any of this, but I find it very dangerous as it has the possibility of going to my head. I'll never be as cool as my in-game character, so I want to be able to earn his affection as myself, in my own way.

As far as other characters from the game go, I only ever see him paired with other dudes, and I can't self-insert like that.

I self insert as Shirou sometimes. We're roughly the same height and get flustered easily so it works.

I mean there really aren't too many male Touhou characters for me to self insert as. I do have a shameless fanfiction story of how IRL me would meet her though, and I guess that's the "cannon" that I go by.

I can't really self-insert as Jun since we're nothing alike.I do like to pretend though that there is alternate version of the manga/anime where I got Suigintou instead of Megu.

Although we're both in the same universe, I don't self-insert into his idol world. He lives in my world where it's almost like the after story when he's retired from the idol business but still occasionally has work or appearances.

Whenever I see anything with another character that resembles me, is supposed to be a generic self-insert character, or is even just an outline of a person, I can't self-insert into it. It's not me and I can't convince myself it is. The only pictures I can self-insert successfully are pictures where he's by a gravestone, holding a skull, or with a mannequin. I think it's just the implications that make me able to self-insert into it.

I suppose you could say I self-insert into his music. As the listener, I tend to think he's talking directly at me depending on the context, so if he's singing a love song or asking me to marry him, I will automatically assume he's talking to me. If he's singing to a character that seems to be established, then I can't convince myself it's directed to me. Whenever there's art or text directed at "master", which is the term for the owner of his software and can be self-insertable at times, that doesn't work for me either. I know it's supposed to be me sometimes, but I don't like the term "master". It implies that I own him and control him, which I suppose I do in a way, but that's not usually how I think about it.

As Producer. Although that's kind of his role in the games.

Nope, Never. I mean, I don't particularly dislike any character from the source material but I'd be jealous realizing I'd be only pretending to have a relationship with her when it would just seem to be something she shares with the character, and so not me.

I already have my self-insert form, which doesn't come from the source material at all, but I have been using it for now as long as I started dreaming about her.

That form comes from an old role playing book, from a series I started reading a long time ago, even a bit before meeting her

The character in the book is really different from what I made of him. His name is Zawiczr Czarny and is a fierce and really strong willing warlord, guardian of the Russian's Vault of souls, in which resides the Koupala. He protects it strongly and fought to the death for it.. Maybe the both of us are really alike somehow and we'll be ready to do the same. Afaik, He is the one I chose to be for her. And that means a lot of things for me, things that has proven, proves and will prove to be the resources I'll use .. for her

And I interpreted it as me coming from the snowy and cold lands to the warm and sunny lands she lives in, since Nausicaä is a greek name that comes from the Odysseus. There aren't really many characters to self insert as that Remus interacted with. There's her one teammate Natala, he's a pretty blank slate, but he doesn't really interact with her too much aside from trying to give her advice or try and motivate her. But it honestly wasn't the type of relationship I'd want to have with plus he didn't seem to really care when she was wounded

Really though, I feel kind of weird about the idea of self inserting as someone from her source, I'd rather just be me and hope she likes that.

Whenever I play the game, I like to imagine I'm the coach. I would give out advice to everyone while listening to theirs. We're both teaching each other things all the time and it's really nice.

One day when I'm able to draw well, I would like to draw out all the casual and comfy social situations. It's also helping me get over my social anxiety a little too. I used to hate anything social or get scared of it even by the thought but imagining and seeing my team do it made me want to join them too. But it's 2D and more idealistic than realistic but still I guess it's a step.

Both of them aren't blank slates, in fact they are two of my favorite characters! I have a lot of different things in common with both, so self inserting is pretty easy.

Can't say I do, as I'm not keen as inserting myself as an established character in a series, even if said character and I share a lot of the same traits.

However, similar to >>45525 and >>45528 have said, I use an avatar version of myself (with the same name as I use here) as a way of self-inserting myself into her universe (until such time as I am able to one day be with her). Best way to describe this is like how kids imagine themselves as a super powered being and how they would look so to speak, but with my flaws, traits, ideals, morals, etc. remaining unchanged. I've created this version of myself years ago, so it wasn't hard to overcome the obstacle of inserting myself into her universe. The trick is being able to be with her without derailing the source material and changing her in any way from said source material (specifically in regards to her story in the game and backstory, since it's still not explained in full detail as of yet)

Uh, kind of? In fanart, sometimes, with different characters but most commonly Akira because that's who he's shipped with most. I don't pretend I'm anyone while reading the source material, though. Here are a few of the ones I self-insert into. (I just realized my tendency is to self-insert into pics where the character I'm using as a self-insert is touching him and not the other way around when trying to find pictures for this.)

I'm not very good at self inserting in general and I can't self insert as a girl even if she is kind of tomboy. As some other have said I have my own character, which is just myself as imagined i would look like when i was younger.

Usually Reimu. Physically, I have long black hair, we're similar builds and i've cosplayed her before. Mentally we are both are social yet aloof, poor and sometimes a bit tsundere in the right situation with the right people.

And spiritually, my views on past/future lives and reincarnation extends across the multiverse, and I feel a kinship for fantasy and Gensokyo that makes the Hakurei shrine maiden who stands at and manages its border particularly fitting for me.

The main Lucky Stars I can self insert as are Takara Miyuki and Hiiragi Tsukasa.

Tsukasa in a way represents an idealized version of one of the many facets of my personality; the slightly clumsy airhead/ditz. It's not often shown, but Konata actually has a better relationship with Tsukasa than she does with Kagami, as they've been friends for longer and Tsukasa is a much more agreeable character.

Miyuki is an ideal to strive towards. She's the person I want to be; calm, intelligent, beautiful, feminine. I think it's fairly obvious that if there's anyone in the show that Konata is romantically interested in it's Miyuki. I also think the dynamics of a Kona/Miyu relationship would be very similar to the dynamics in a relationship between Kona and me.

You can self insert into the VN, which I did, but I still feel the feeling are the same. I swear I've posted this before. The voiced parts still say Okazaki.

I just like to think of her source material as a documentary of her life, I learn more about her from watching it but I don't insert myself. I like to imagine myself between the action, as in whenever she isnt doing we whatever she may be doing in her Manga she us spending that down time with me, talking to me about it, asking what she should do next, asking what I think will happen next if she already has it planned out. So yeah, pretty much a no on the self insert thing, other than imagining myself being somewhat accessible to her, i don't really try to change up the story if her universe.

Thinking about that, it's much easier for me to think that her series is just a certain point in her life before graduating high school. I've tried to think about self-inserting myself during high school but it was just kinda awkward to think about for a lot of reasons.

This brings the question of how much she changed from her high school self but in my own experience you don't really change that much for better or worse

I'm similar. I don't really self insert to any character during the series. Only images/fanart stuff. There's two head canon I have one is more for fun and and "ultimate" fantasy type thing and the other is a realistic post-series head canon.

I can self insert into a lot of the pics that have Yuyuko in them. It helps we can sometimes act similarly if I'm among friends.

I don't save any pics that get too shippy though.

As for a 2D avatar no, I can imagine 2D on 3D without it being too weird. It's hard to describe.

Though I'm pretty sure that our dislike of the MC's of our waifu's respective series is similar. Not to mention that a Nip insert totally kills the story, makes no sense, and isn't relatable in any way either.

So I self-insert into separate version of her story that I've been writing on and off. While it follows her canon story fairly closely, I take the liberty of fixing the more unrealistic bits and adding a few unique and thought out scenarios here and there. Of course, picture related.

That's a pretty good way of putting it. I use her source material to inform me of her personality, behaviourisms, history, attributes etc. but I don't self-insert at all.

I can't exactly self-insert as Rinnosuke since he has a defined personality, but that personality is very limited. Regardless, I think he is perfect with her, since I sorta see him as a surrogate for any male fan of the series.

Of course I did! That's one of my favorite aspects about the VN, even though the audio track certainly doesn't sync up.
