How is your waifu looked at, both in the source material and on the internet ?

What do you mean by looked at? You mean the general reader/viewer's view, or in our eyeS? Both?

As for the internet she is in general really liked by people because of the tone of the anime and manga and because of how idealized her character is. That's also what some people tend to reproach her, this and the fact she is so close of nature, argument ending in stuff like "ecology xD" when sadly it has nothing to do with that, even more obvious in the manga.

Then comes the source material aspect. Nausicaä is as well there very respected and loved, first by the people of her own village. As she is their Princess and also a very sweet person they love, Mito and a lot of other people will follow her through her adventures and get to help her a lot, even save her when they can. They prove to be allies of an incredible worth since they are ready to sacrifice themselves for their Princess they can get to defend quite fanatically. That's why some of the time Nausicaä herself tries to calm them down and reassure them, telling them she is going to be alright and will look out for her, won't do anything dangerous. But her people can't help but to help her by any means even if they have to move out of their village and go at the other end of the world, when they never left their own place.

As about the strangers it becomes a bit more complicated ; first, Kushana and her men are impressed by the skills she has and back off a bit noticing she is a powerful opponent. Along time Kushana will give Nausicaä more and more respect realizing her potential and inner unimited strength. While this may goes off nicely for some characters, a lot others hate her. The Miralupa and Namulith sees her as a threat to their plans even when they're aware of her power and her character.

As about everyone in general it varies a lot. Some villagers once attacked her while some others were so grateful for her past actions. Whatever happens, she always works toward being someone loved by fixing up everyone's problems.

On the internet she's seen as kinda a meme or representative of her personality type as she was the more popular example before there were more yanderes in the medium.

This creates a double edged sword however of people hating that shes so popular because the show is terrible and honestly she isn't the best written character ever.

In the series shes seen by everyone as really smart and such except for the people she lets see her be downright crazy

The popular internet protrayal of her is that of a titty grabbing sex-crazed lesbian who is head over heels in love with Eli.

This is arguably not a very accurate description of her.

In universe, it depends. In the anime, since she's the vice president of the student council she's probably well-regarded among students in general. Though admittedly Vice President Nozomi is just one of the masks she has. Then there's the Nozomi that μ's and Eli knows as the trickster big sister type. And then there's the lonely child Nozomi that not even Eli was necessarily aware of.

Manga Nozomi so far is a loner who is the lone member of the supernatural club and considering her mannerisms she's probably more or less known as That Weird Girl.

In her source material? You mean, how other characters feel toward her in the story?

Well, her class flocks to her and she's quite a leader and social butterfly, and everyone around her looks up to her as a motherly, kind figure, Hanako especially. The protagonist in the route where they end up together, too. But she also needs support, and not many people get close to her - she really only has Hanako and her sister Akira. The only person who hates her is her cousin, who can't communicate with her and has had arguments with her over how the student council should be ran, in effect making Lilly leave it. And there is her family - her father abandoned his daughters for a promotion and to him they seem to mean very little. Of course, she wouldn't be who she is without that abandonment, but that doesn't mean I don't get to hate him.

As to the reactions I got to her on the internet, well…

Some people think she's a Mary Sue designed for losers to fall in love with (well, okay, that design goal seems to have been accomplished with me), even though the point of her story is that she also has problems and that she's too shy and scared to try to solve them until it's too late, something I have observed in myself.

The KS forum community ranges from the above to loving her and writing fanfiction about her - some of which really good - and I'm told that there have been Lilly waifuists there; I never checked.

The Polish chan Karachan, despite having a cohesive community and culture, as well as a well-thought-out system of newfag access denial, suffers from several fatal flaws, like the sense of depression and defeatism exceeding Wizchan's at times, cynicism about everything and last but definitely not least, not liking Lilly. Here are some reactions I got:

>Why would you ever love a blind girl, she'd fall under a car and die on you!

>What the above anon said, and how would you show her your dank memes? The only acceptable girls for an anon are armless alternative (=hipsterish) painters!

I have since deleted the bookmark, the Adblock filters, and the dank memes in question, and I hate the place. I didn't even bother posting her on Vichan, the place is cynical normalfag central and I can imagine the reaction as:

>but Anon, you know that the virginal basement dweller is just a meme, right?

>Oh, look, the fucking undersocialized weebs strike again! You just want a waifu because you want a fairytale romance… (et cetera)

If you want to know how bad the place is - the /waifu/ board there is for posting celebrity crushes. I shit you not, so it is.

Now, 8ch has been really good, what I got on the boards other than /mai/ was:

>Nice waifu, man.

>'Lily is good waifu' (verbatim)

>Good pick, OP, let me post mine.

>amazingly, only 1 instance of "you're waifu a shit" to date, though I guess it's because I don't go on /a/, /b/, or the other "we hate everything" boards as much as I used to before meeting her.

As far as other characters in the canon, she's pretty much despised. Even the characters she allies with, like Seth, treat her like an untrustworthy loose-cannon and honestly, with good reason The characters she opposes are even less kind, treating her like a dangerous animal or a monster.

The internet and fandom is even less forgiving. Most see her as "waifubait fetish material" or "lol what a slut". Even in the competitive scene she isn't taken seriously, at least in my experience. Competitive players usually recognize how strong she is as a character, but the people that play her, aside from maybe two, are generally viewed as scrubs.

At least the characters in the universes canon respect her, I guess.

The Internets opinion of her varies from where you go. If you go somewhere like tumblr, they portray her as a dyke and ship her with nearly every other character in the show which is tiresome. Other places see her in a very positive light thankfully this is one of those places or if its a place that dislikes kill la kill in general they turn her into some edgelord, which if you watched the show you'd know is not the case.

In her source material she's the hero so she's viewed positively there too. Especially by the end of the show very few characters dislike her.

On chans and a few other places it's very uncommon for me to find someone talking about him where they aren't referring to him as "fuccboi" and saying everything that went wrong in the story was his fault. On the rare occasion that someone isn't shittalking him, they're sexualizing him instead. Other places like twitter and tumblr seem to be a mixed bag, with some obnoxious shitposters that don't seem to take him seriously, or people who enjoy talking about him as if he were a toddler, and some people who seem to genuinely like him sometimes a little bit too much for my tastes.

In the source material, he's treated with a lot of respect and pretty highly regarded, although most of that is just because of his family's high status and because he's his grandfather's grandson. There's only a few instances where other characters will talk down to him or treat him like the teenager he actually is, but it's something that seems to be happening more often lately.

Suigintou isn't generally well liked by many in the main cast. They pity her,but she is regarded as a bully, opportunist, cruel, selfish. Megu is cool with her, but she has her own issues.

>internet

This is a mixed bag. I don't generally look at her reception, but from what I understand, she mostly popular because shes hot. This is a double-bladded sword. On one hand more popularity means more art, but it also means i run into deviants who talk about how much they want to fuck her.Shes mine! She does have some neato and amusing dank memes though so thats nice.

I get annoyed with how people treat her in the fandom. She doesn't have the "le epic meme" problem nearly as bad as Momiji or Sanae but it's still there. When someone isn't looking at her from that angle they seem to think of her as merely a cute moeblob and don't think much more about her character. The worst is when they think of her as "fun to bully".

I think canon tends to overemphasize some of her more childish/naive qualities. Yeah she can be a bit awkward at times; hard not to when you haven't had many people your own age around during childhood. At heart she's much more calm and mature than some of her appearances lead people to think. They don't tend to hold it against her but she wants to be taken more seriously.

I kind of blame Tolkien and alot of other sources for the flat out hate and vile orc's as a people get. It doesn't help that my waifu isn't a main or side character headlining an anime or video game so people treat me like someone with a mental illness in "love" with a chess piece or something.

In the source material she's perceived as being very smart and hardworking by fellow students. It's not the original source material but she's looked up to by the protagonist in Not! who's a younger student. Teachers usually respect her but try to push her, and those closest to her find her difficult at times because she's headstrong and demanding (of herself as well as others). She also gets teased for being a bookworm every so often.

The most common reaction is probably "your waifu a shit because she doesn't have boobs". But other than that one most people think she's cute and a good character.

As far as her world, she's either seen as a villain or threat to most of the characters in the game, both due to her being a valentine and recent history surrounding valentines, and her mischievous nature. To her comrades (I-NO and Raven), though she's considered a valuable but unstable asset to them, is seen as a doll to be used as a vessel for Justice. However, in her own words, she says that their leader (the gearmaker or that man) is a bully, but doesn't treat his allies like pawns. Still, that's to be determined as the story progresses. Ultimately, she seems to want to help humanity, but more in her own way if her actions have shown anything.

The only minor exception to this is Ramlethal, as right before her fight with Jack-O, she considered her another person with a will of their own and not just a doll. Though they still had their fight, and her goal to save her sister was still more important to her, I was surprised when I saw that particular scene.

As far as the internet and playerbase is considered, it seems to be a mixed bag despite being a new character gamewise. However, the negatives sometimes outshining the positives. The art she gets shows that a lot of people like her, with very little of it being degrading or show her suffering (though that does on occasion show up). There are also a lot of players that have shown how good she can be in the game as well. However, I do see quite a bit of people on other boards and threads for fighting games, as well as other sites, that don't like her (or Xrd in general), with the argument being that they could've brought an old character back (to which I can see where they're coming from, but more characters from older games are returning), she doesn't fit in the game's style, or is just "waifu (in a general term) material" and nothing else.

In layman's terms, she's considered a devil in disguise to most people, but to me, there's more to this angel than what others see.

Honestly, with Milky Holmes itself being a sort niche show, as well as her being a background character for most of the show, most people don't remember/know of her. I don't mind that, it means more for me.

Mixed.

In the source material, she is, at times, part of or completely the source of group tension among the main heroes, and isn't always easy to get along with the group, but over time, and massive ridiculous events later, she ends up getting along with everyone better.

On the internet, she's seen as basically a mean, vegetarian bitch, brown Shinji (to be fair, Sadamoto admitted Shinji is a sameface from Nadia), and as worst girl.

On the internet, Flandre is often depicted (and therefore looked at) as facing serious (and unrealistic) mental problems. She is often depicted as having two very opposite personalities: One in which she is a kind, playful and happy little girl, and one where she is a sadistic psychopathic animal-like demon who would slaughter any human without the slightest regret.

Sometimes she is not depicted in this duality and will only be in one pole (only a kind and excited child or a dangerous and cruel beast).

Sometimes she is simply depicted as a naïve and childish goddess of oblivion, without any real sadistic desires.

But really, Flandre (the one in my heart, the one in my life, my waifu) is not a cruel and sadistic person. Although she would, of course, defend herself and the ones she loves with fierce in case of a gratuitous assault, she would never murder random people and delight herself of their pain! Flandre is a kind and caring person, especially if she gets to know you well; there is nothing evil inside of her. And she is not insane either!

In her source she is seen as both an "ordinary" girl that wants to find and understand what love is, and as a literal monster that should not be allowed to, and does not deserve to exist.

Internet perception of her varies, but generally follows the same pattern. I find that there are hardly any people, if any at all, that have a neutral opinion on her. Generally she is well-liked, but she has a sort of joke/meme-status about her in most posts that I read; Many people when talking about her mention "blob of meat," "eldritch abomination," "tentacles," or something with a similar subject matter to it, with virtually no real attention placed on her character or personality. This might just be me, as I don't often look at discussions about her, but this is what I typically run into.

On the other side of the coin, when I do see negative opinions about her they're usually very strong. I've heard more than a couple times about how she deserves to be put through the worst fate possible, and how they were happy that they actually got their wish in the Kouji ending. Opinions like this are more uncommon, but they still sting to read. This is the main reason why I don't read anything people have to say about her.
