It did, and it ran it terribly. Its corruption was notorious and Chiang Kai-shek spent more time fighting the Communist Party than in repelling the Japanese invaders.

A good read is Jack Belden's "China Shakes the World": http://bookzz.org/book/982898/8918be (but there's also many, many other books about Kuomintang corruption and general incompetence)

There's a thread about Stalin on the first page. My recent replies to it include links refuting the "Holodomor" claim. As for the trials or anything else about the Stalin era, feel free to post in the thread about them and I will duly reply.

Reminds me of something a guy (J. Slavyanski) once wrote in a satirical guide to anti-communism: "Nothing from ‘Communists’ can be trusted. Unless it somehow works in your favor, ala Khrushchev’s ‘Secret Speech’ from 1956, or anything Trotsky wrote."
