Can anyone suggest any good general history or continental historical books with a socialist lean? I know of a book called "A Marxist History of the World: From Neanderthals to Neoliberals" and while this is acceptable, I am interested in something in a more textbook like fashion. Should I begin a search by looking at socialist states history textbooks? What countries?

This is the only one I know of that's in English and online, a 1974 two-volume "A Short History of the World" published by the Soviet revisionists:

There's also William Z. Foster's "Outline Political History of the Americas" from 1951 which is good: http://bookzz.org/book/872863/1686e1
