I am the Board Volunteer for /ment/, basically the original /mental/. Someone(Raccoon I believe?) copied the exact idea for the board and has implemented it here, even copy-pasting threads. There are even posts diverting traffic away from my board to here. I left them there out of not wanting to suppress.

Anyway, the fact that this occurred annoyed me at first, but I was planning on handing the board off to someone eventually, and this is about the same. It was just so strange and unexpected though. I am still kind of waiting for an explanation.

My only complaint about /mental/ is how there seems to be more of the typical —how shall I say this— image board lulz-seeking, schadenfreude, mindless ignorant criticism, etcetera. Maybe that is what everyone wants though. Other than that, it was basically what I had in mind. I suppose I did not post enough links in /b/ "that feel" threads.

Anyway, I posted out the of the consideration to delete my own board so I can just go ahead and wipe my hands clean and forget anything ever happened. You have a week to say anything.

Also, if you are wondering: I am a classically trained artist who used to be in the Marine Corps and has schizotypal personality disorder. I have been using image boards for ten years. If if cannot can never find anything really related to the post, I just use my own art.

I have seen many psychiatrists and therapists, and was raised in a house filled with books on the topic.

I made the board because I like discussing that sort of thing and I noticed how unhappy and lost people on image boards seem. Maybe this board will serve the same purpose.

I didn't know your board existed when I created mine. Had I known I wouldn't have made this one, but by the time I found out /ment/ existed my board was already more popular than yours.

If there were threads on your board that were also on my board, it was most likely because someone posted it on your board, saw the lack of activity and then put it on this one to get more replies.

Not sure where you're seeing /b/-tier "lulz". For the most part this board has had great conversation and discussion. I only posted this board on /b/ once and it was when I first started it. Again, not knowing yours existed.

I'm sorry you feel as though I "ripped off" your board but the fact is I created this board because I hated the idea of having to have an account on a mental health forum, so I took the opportunity to make one myself because I couldn't find one on here.

Someone posted the disclaimer and said "you should put this up at the top of the board." so I tweaked the phrasing of what they posted to be more friendly and put it up at the top.

Besides your disclaimer says "Warning: If you feel that you have a truly serious mental issue, you are encouraged to seek out a professional. Advise, opinions, and information provided on this board are subjective and do not constitute real professional help."

/mental/'s disclaimer says: "This board will not take the place of a mental healthcare professional and should not be used as one. Any and all posts asking for a diagnosis, advice on medication, or anything else that only your doctor is qualified to make judgments on will be locked immediately."

Those are not the same thing. They don't say the same thing. Unless you're talking about the suicide hotline being under it, in which case I apologize because I didn't realize that was your home phone number.

Thats annoying man, but you're decision to delete is an honorable action considering you got dogged with the copied threads.
I'd say to keep traffic up, only one board on this topic should exist, however ill check out /ment/ and at the end of the week if more popular, mental should delete.

Those are personally not my favorite kind of threads, but in actual practice, I would not do anything to interfere so long as it does not resort to that infamous image board crab mentality we all know so well.

I don't think /ment/ is going to get over 2,000 posts in a week, which is what would be required to surpass /mental/'s activity.

If /ment/ can get their post number to be in the 2000 range by November 17th excluding the heavy samefagging I saw when I went over there just now I will delete /mental/.
