Hey there, guise. What kind of music to you like? Do you think it has to do with any disorders you may have? Alternatively, why don't you like music?

Anime music. Some vocaloid. I might or might not have Autism, as the doctors have not given me an official diagnose yet. Also this feels like a thinly veiled /soc/ thread.

Rap, pop punk, ska punk, pop, rock, anything emo kids listen to. I'm schizotypal and I think it made me have a lot of teen-tier angst so probably.

I like "layered" music. It seems to max out my attention span and lets me sink into it fully. I can also listen to the same song several times and pick out different tracks in it to listen to.
I think my being into stuff like Soilwork is firmly related to depression (specifically the bitter fight against it), but otherwise not really.
>>2282 If you're just looking for such music in general, look for Matryoshka and Jewel.

It makes me feel great!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rsa-ktITD0E I usually listen to really tense fast paced music, something to numb the pain of being alone, to tear myself from reality, even for a little while.
A lot of vidya, it helps me be creative, an escapism.
I want to kill people but I'm too much of a coward so this is my only choice.

Don't actually drink a nice cup of milk and relax to these albums though, or at all, find comfort in them :)

Very much so. I'm bipolar, and when I'm manic I love all those quirky hipster bands with that rural charm, like Neutral Milk Hotel and similar. Then it's over, back to reality, and it's all Titus Andronicus ("punk" rock), music written by a bipolar guy. There's a bunch of whining in his albums, but with a merry, enjoyable feel to it. A non-pussy, non-baww sound. I've listened to the second album literally over a thousand times in the right order, uninterrupted. Would recommend.

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play. >>2272 I adore ambient music, or anything similarly soft that just "fills" the ears. Something that I can close my eyes and focus my entire attention upon, and thus turn my mind away from everything else. I can't sleep without doing this, because I can't calm my mind down otherwise. Classical music can assume this role too, thought I have a real soft spot for Scriabin, if only for his atonal approach to music.
But, I also have a taste for heavier music, with the one caveat being that there must be a nice melody of some kind. I don't like thrashing noise for the sake of noise. Bands like Queensrÿche and Dream Theatre really satisfy me there.
With regards to disorders, the only definite answer I can give there is that I cannot stand music that is dominated by major chords. I prefer music with minors, or in simpler terms, music that sounds "sad." I suppose I could relate that to depression in some way.
I think how and why I listen as much as I do is more related to my mental state rather than the what. Music is something sacred to me; a sheltering, comforting thing, and seemingly the only thing that can consistently elicit emotion from me. It's easily my best friend in that regard.
If I had to list a few artists/bands, they'd be:
Steven Wilson. He's suitably depressing to listen to.
Katatonia. They satisfy the soft and heavy side of my interests.
Ayreon. These guys are all over the spectrum, as each album is essentially a progressive rock opera.

I like a little bit of mostly everything, partial to rock and indie I guess but it really depends on my mood. Can't stand screamo. I don't think my conditions have affected my taste, but I do enjoy songs with lyrics that remind me of it, makes me feel like I'm not alone. I didn't used to be into music much as a kid, until my mind became more sensitive and I needed something to block out unpleasant background noise, then I discovered how great some of it is and now it's just standard for me to listen to music whenever I'm at the computer. Listening to japanese shit right now.

Symphonic power metal, mostly. Rhapsody of Fire and Luca Turilli's Rhapsody being my favorite. Also a lot of cinematic music like two steps from hell and stuff. Do I think it has anything to do? No, at least not in the sense of them causing it. But they go along very well with daydreaming an imagining things which I do constantly. Don't really care for any of the 'serious' or 'deep' music, I like my fantasy stuff as I listen to music for pleasure, not really for feels. Also certainly not a fan of electronic music, it does absolutely nothing for me in terms of enjoyment or imagination. Electronic sounds mixed in to what I normally listen to are fine, but an entire song being all electric stuff just doesn't tickle my fancy.

I dont know if it has anything to do with whats wrong with me, but I mosly like J-core, speedcore, noise (electronic or made by instruments, even field recordings are nice) then I also like various kinds of rock music, depressive black metal, post-rock, shoegaze ect. Its mostly a very "grim" music taste, but some of the J-core stuff can be very upbeat. I do ocasionally listen to some random recommendations from friends, anything from j-pop to hip hop and I dont mind the stuff, I just dont find myself listening to it "by myself"

On a general basis from the little I remember of my teenage years, when I was in a good mood I would listen Blind Guardian or Dio, and when the depression triggered I would listen Thin Lizzy for hours. After a few months of EMDR therapy I suddendly though 'I'm older now, I could listen to something, like, more evolving', and started listening post-rock and ambient. Now I listen shit like this, it's very calm and drives my mind far away. Plus it had some _physical_ side-effects in my head when the therapy started, and I liked it. I listen to indian mantras aswell, but that's more a matter of interests than mood.

Low roar is nice, Ed Sheeran sometimes, Passenger (not fucking let her go so sick of that shit).
I switch between indie and rap depending on my mood. I get mood swings/manic episodes throughout the day sometimes and sometimes its UP mood for three days DEPRESSED for a few days then SAD/DOWN for another few days then back to depressed which is normal, then back to UP but I ignore most of it because I know its not real.
