Hey there, guise.

What kind of music to you like? Do you think it has to do with any disorders you may have?

Alternatively, why don't you like music?

 No.2274

Anime music. Some vocaloid.

I might or might not have Autism, as the doctors have not given me an official diagnose yet.

Also this feels like a thinly veiled /soc/ thread.

 No.2275

Rap, pop punk, ska punk, pop, rock, anything emo kids listen to.

I'm schizotypal and I think it made me have a lot of teen-tier angst so probably.

What songs? For about 3 years I was very into Vocaloid. And it may seem like one, I just am bored and this is the only board I feel comfortable posting on/actively care about.

I listen to disturbing music.

It definitely has to do with my disorders, as it triggers something into me.

Shit like this.

I listen to all kinds of shit.

I like "layered" music. It seems to max out my attention span and lets me sink into it fully. I can also listen to the same song several times and pick out different tracks in it to listen to.

I think my being into stuff like Soilwork is firmly related to depression (specifically the bitter fight against it), but otherwise not really.

>>2282
If you're just looking for such music in general, look for Matryoshka and Jewel.

 No.2300

You guys have catchy taste.

It makes me feel great!

I usually listen to really tense fast paced music, something to numb the pain of being alone, to tear myself from reality, even for a little while.

A lot of vidya, it helps me be creative, an escapism.

I want to kill people but I'm too much of a coward so this is my only choice.

WUBWUBBWEEEESAMPLESSAMPLESSAMPLES Skrillex brostep shit can be fun maybe once or twice, like with other shitty popular electronic music.

I'm extremely fond of this song though. It's arguably less dubstep and more DnB, but the drums are quite -step.

nice choice

I'm surprised nobody really listens to shit directly related to their disorders or their feelings with how much there is out there, that's the main drawing point for me. I'm fucking obsessed with Radiohead because I connect with them so well. So yeah to answer OP's question for me how relatable it is is a huge part, but not the only part.

(pic related is something I found on /mu/ ages ago that's pretty accurate as far as I can tell, you pick a couple of ways you would suicide and listen to some albums from them. Just thought it was relevant.)
Don't actually drink a nice cup of milk and relax to these albums though, or at all, find comfort in them :)

not of a compilation if that's what you mean (sorry) but you'll be able to find all of them on Rutracker. It's a bit of a hassle because you have to use translate but it's well worth it for finding more obscure music.

But honestly most of the shit on there will be on TPB though so head there first :)

Sorry to break the pattern. I mostly listen to melancholic music. Also I'm really bad at finding new music, and dislike most music from any given artist. Been listening to Carissa's Wierd, but only really like So You Wanna Be A Superhero.

You listen to vocaloid too? I listen to Vocaloid stuff, and electronic stuff (drum and bass, a tiny bit of dubstep, and some flash game music). I also like classical music if it's in the background. I have been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, Depression, and ADHD. (Not in that order)

Y-You too.

I don't dislike all dubstep but a lot of it sounds really generic to me, especially brostep.

 No.2412

I mostly like energetic music. Probably because I'm otherwise as limp as a sack of potatoes.
It doesn't really matter whether it's dark, happy or aggressive, as long as it is hard and fast.

 No.2418

Very much so.

I'm bipolar, and when I'm manic I love all those quirky hipster bands with that rural charm, like Neutral Milk Hotel and similar.

Then it's over, back to reality, and it's all Titus Andronicus ("punk" rock), music written by a bipolar guy. There's a bunch of whining in his albums, but with a merry, enjoyable feel to it. A non-pussy, non-baww sound. I've listened to the second album literally over a thousand times in the right order, uninterrupted.

Would recommend.

I adore ambient music, or anything similarly soft that just "fills" the ears. Something that I can close my eyes and focus my entire attention upon, and thus turn my mind away from everything else. I can't sleep without doing this, because I can't calm my mind down otherwise. Classical music can assume this role too, thought I have a real soft spot for Scriabin, if only for his atonal approach to music.

But, I also have a taste for heavier music, with the one caveat being that there must be a nice melody of some kind. I don't like thrashing noise for the sake of noise. Bands like Queensrÿche and Dream Theatre really satisfy me there.

With regards to disorders, the only definite answer I can give there is that I cannot stand music that is dominated by major chords. I prefer music with minors, or in simpler terms, music that sounds "sad." I suppose I could relate that to depression in some way.

I think how and why I listen as much as I do is more related to my mental state rather than the what. Music is something sacred to me; a sheltering, comforting thing, and seemingly the only thing that can consistently elicit emotion from me. It's easily my best friend in that regard.

If I had to list a few artists/bands, they'd be:
Steven Wilson. He's suitably depressing to listen to.
Katatonia. They satisfy the soft and heavy side of my interests.
Ayreon. These guys are all over the spectrum, as each album is essentially a progressive rock opera.

I don't know if it's related to my diagnosis, or what it says about me, but I like to put on a gasmask with blacked out eyes and listen to dark ambient.

It gives me weird thoughts, and I get a slight feeling of terror. I feel a strange presence in the room.

I think it's some how related to my selfharm. I want to challenge my self into experiencing something unpleasant.

I like a little bit of mostly everything, partial to rock and indie I guess but it really depends on my mood. Can't stand screamo. I don't think my conditions have affected my taste, but I do enjoy songs with lyrics that remind me of it, makes me feel like I'm not alone.

I didn't used to be into music much as a kid, until my mind became more sensitive and I needed something to block out unpleasant background noise, then I discovered how great some of it is and now it's just standard for me to listen to music whenever I'm at the computer. Listening to japanese shit right now.

 No.4286

I get really obsessed with music that I can relate to, or if it sounds strong enough to cause an emotional reaction. I listen to the whole discography of a band until I cant feel it anymore. Its usually heavy angsty shit like MM and death grips, but I do also like more indie shit like radiohead and the xx (for more personal reasons)

 No.9076

Symphonic power metal, mostly. Rhapsody of Fire and Luca Turilli's Rhapsody being my favorite.

Also a lot of cinematic music like two steps from hell and stuff.

Do I think it has anything to do? No, at least not in the sense of them causing it. But they go along very well with daydreaming an imagining things which I do constantly.

Don't really care for any of the 'serious' or 'deep' music, I like my fantasy stuff as I listen to music for pleasure, not really for feels. Also certainly not a fan of electronic music, it does absolutely nothing for me in terms of enjoyment or imagination. Electronic sounds mixed in to what I normally listen to are fine, but an entire song being all electric stuff just doesn't tickle my fancy.

I dont know if it has anything to do with whats wrong with me, but I mosly like J-core, speedcore, noise (electronic or made by instruments, even field recordings are nice) then I also like various kinds of rock music, depressive black metal, post-rock, shoegaze ect. Its mostly a very "grim" music taste, but some of the J-core stuff can be very upbeat. I do ocasionally listen to some random recommendations from friends, anything from j-pop to hip hop and I dont mind the stuff, I just dont find myself listening to it "by myself"

Everything from ska, hardcore and punk when I'm feeling really up to radiohead, folk and prog rock when down and a bit of thrash, RATM and other trashy metal when in between.

I've always been fond of rock and heavy metal, t was the way to vent out what I couldn't IRL. On a general basis from the little I remember of my teenage years, when I was in a good mood I would listen Blind Guardian or Dio, and when the depression triggered I would listen Thin Lizzy for hours.

After a few months of EMDR therapy I suddendly though 'I'm older now, I could listen to something, like, more evolving', and started listening post-rock and ambient. Now I listen shit like this, it's very calm and drives my mind far away. Plus it had some _physical_ side-effects in my head when the therapy started, and I liked it.

I listen to indian mantras aswell, but that's more a matter of interests than mood.

Same here. My shrink told me I had bipolar and depression, put me on ziprazidone 20mg, I just like his rap. The way he raps the stories he has the shit he's been through.

Theres less bullshit in his music compared to other nig nog rappers.

Low roar is nice, Ed Sheeran sometimes, Passenger (not fucking let her go so sick of that shit).

I switch between indie and rap depending on my mood. I get mood swings/manic episodes throughout the day sometimes and sometimes its UP mood for three days DEPRESSED for a few days then SAD/DOWN for another few days then back to depressed which is normal, then back to UP but I ignore most of it because I know its not real.

I listen to a wide variety just depends.

 No.9137

OSTs. Primarily because i believe OST isn't a specific genre, but a wide range of genres. I love Journey's OSTs as much as i love Deus Ex:HR OSTs, and they are both completely different kind of music.

But to be specific, i like post-rock and industrial.
Some weaboo music too.
