Hey /mental/, I know you some of you here should have at least some knowledge and experience with mental disorders, and I was wondering what disorder these symptoms fall under. (not looking for a diagnosis btw, just more in depth understanding).

>Emotional flatness

>Constant irritability, aggression
>Short temper
>Selfish, high self worth
>Carelessness, low empathy, no life direction
>Spontaneous, thrill seeking
>Constant complaints of boredom, doing dangerous things
>Sadistic/bullying behavior
>Compulsive lying
>Seems to have no attachments to others, highly misanthropic
>Polite and friendly with strangers however, always helping others
>Very high impulsivity, explosive anger

I can't tell anymore, could be symptoms to BPD, depression, ADHD, anything. Can someone give me an idea of what this sounds like?

I should also add along with these things there seems to be a lot of eccentricity present, with random dances or playfulness and just generally very off putting and absurd things.

 No.3818

Pretty much all of those things fit ASPD, along with a give-very-few-shits attitude towards what people think (the eccentric part.)

I've heard about that, but this person isn't really antisocial, he is an extrovert and communicates with people in a pretty smooth way when he wants to, not really an introvert.

 No.3820

>>3818
Sorry just read more about it, doesn't mean antisocial like introversion. This could probably fit the person, but it seems like they can still be enthusiastic and emotional at times, always looking for a new thrill or adventure, not a completely robotic and boring psychopath. Could ASPD still apply to a person like this? Also they steal quite a bit and have attacked others, but they have never commited any major crimes or been to court.

>>3820
A person doesn't have to fit all the criteria to have ASPD. Criminality and having a record make them much more likely to be diagnosed with it but unless it's forced in that way, professionals don't like to diagnose it because it carries such a heavy stigma. Very few professionals will even consider working with antisocial PD'd people. Not all psychopaths or sociopaths are "robotic" and yeah, antisocial, as in ASPD, has nothing to do with introversion/extroversion. The technical term for introversion is asocial, not antisocial but most people use it interchangeably.

This person's tendency towards being nice to strangers/helping people could be construed as a tendency to control their appearances and open the possibility of that working in their favor later on. Once that possibility passes, the opportunity to create personal entertainment through being weird comes up. Not saying ASPD is all of it, but it could explain a good chunk of OP's points.

>>3819
Are you OP and if so, are you asking for yourself or someone you know?

 No.3833

Psychopathic/Antisocial. Specifically mentioning psychopathy because of how you have high self-worth, seem to enjoy messing with people in a direct manner.

"Psychopathy is traditionally defined as a personality disorder characterized by enduring antisocial behavior, diminished empathy and remorse, and disinhibited or bold behavior."

 No.3837

As people have said before me, Antisocial Personality Disorder (More commonly known as Psychopathy/Sociopathy, but there are some distinct differences)

 No.3838

>>3819
Antisocial doesn't refer to one not being social, but one engaging in behaviour that society sees as "negative" and going against establishment

sounds like you're jus a bad person. no need to slap a label on it. chin up. stiff upper lip. lel….jk…im a sociopath too kek

 No.3863

OP here, I was just asking because these are the traits of a friend of mine, he has been a great friend my whole life but he has always been a very energetic, unstable, and unhinged guy and I was wondering what his deal was, all these symptoms and descriptions fit him, but I never thought he could be a psychopath. We always though he was just a more aggressive and sadistic branch of ADHD, but I could see how this would work. He has never tried to manipulate me (that much anyhow, always something simple, more like convincing and persuading to do his crazy ideas and schemes), but otherwise a cool dude. Reminds me of Trevor from gta or something, very loyal and entertaining to be with, but very angry and high strung, and I wondered why he presented himself in these odd ways. Anyways, how should I proceed from here, should I talk to him about it?

 No.3864

>>3863
Attempting to persuade or manipulate somebody to do his plans is more of a Sociopathic trait, but the rest follows a classic psychopath. You may want to bring it up to him, but it probably wouldn't help much.

 No.3865

>>3864
Alright sounds good. Besides getting into trouble or being rough with me he has never really done me wrong and has been a great friend, so I'll probably just stick with him despite these revelations. I don't think I'm going to bring this up. Thanks everyone, now I know a little more on what makes that guy tick.

 No.3866

>>3865
Alright, Ron. Now get back to work! TPI won't run itself.
(I kid, I kid. Have a great day.)

 No.3901

>>3863

You're a fucking sociopath.
GG.
Now get out there and ruin some people's lives.
