Motivational Thread Anonymous 12/31/14 (Wed) 00:03:37 No. 5401
Is it ok if i make a motivation thread, to get others motivated if they are lacking it?
These videos helped me to regain some motivation.

Changing yourself and getting out of whatever rut you may be in will be difficult, it will be hard. You will not like it. But remember - nothing great was ever easy. Keep on going.

Where do you guys find the strength to go and do things? What do if i just feel like wanting to vanish and go away for ever?
Anonymous 01/04/15 (Sun) 14:58:16 No. 5559
>>5558 I find the strenght in the fact that if i die, no one will take my place.
I find the strenght in the fact that if my life is shit it's my fault too, so better start improving myself.
I find the strenght in the fact that
i'm useless. And as such, i must take care of myself, because no one else will.

Ok /mental/, how can get motivation so that it doesn't go away as fast as it came? Like i want to know more about myself so i can improve myself allowing me to do things like studying, learning, staying fit and possibly finding a job or a thing that i really want to do. One advice i got was to think myself as a MC in a movie and right now would be the point where everything is shit and i'm a loser. Then the MC would decide not to be a loser anymore and go change things. If only it would be that easy, but it helped a bit.

>>6578 Baby steps, small individual goals instead of one huge goal.
So many people set goals that are so high and above their level that they end up abandoning them. So many people want to go from being mediocre to being the very very best. That is like trying to jump from one end of a football field to the other.
Instead, you take each individual obstacle and break them down into smaller parts as necessary until you have tiny steps which are easy for you to overcome. Inch by inch. Progress is progress no matter how small.
Anonymous 01/23/15 (Fri) 23:59:25 No. 6582
>>6581 It's just that i have no goals and even if i find a thing that i want to do the motivation doesn't stay for long.

Hey guys look, i found depression.
Anonymous 02/06/15 (Fri) 12:03:52 No. 7402
>>5542 >>5544 >>5551 How is this not valid advice? Sometimes, a good way to get motivated is to actually force yourself to start doing the thing you want to do. Once you do that, you'll actually find that it's not so bad to keep going. Like, starting up a motorboat engine. It takes a few pulls but eventually it just goes.
Anonymous 02/06/15 (Fri) 18:32:19 No. 7411
>>7402 Well yes, but if they could just force themselves to do thing they probably would.
It's hard to do anything when you basically want to vanish from the world.
Besides "Just force yourself to do things" sounds same as "it's just a phase or it's because of the season etc" Which is bullshit.
I for one watch motivational videos if i need motivation.

>>6578 I started very, very small.
I have a five-yen coin that I carry in my wallet. Every day I run my finger over the face of the coin 108 times. The number is significant in buddhism, which is why I picked it. I'm not religious and I don't believe in any sort of super natural phenomena, but I figured it was as good a number as any.
So I do that every day. I close my eyes and just slowly run my finger around the face as I count upward. Finding the energy to do anything is tough for me, so maintaining consistency with that is comforting.
It's an insignificant thing that has no real effect, but knowing that I've been able to do that every day helps me mentally with other tasks I know I need to do to feel better. It helps to remind me to do my exercises and meditation. Maybe it's a little silly, but this small, simple thing helps me do the larger, more difficult things.
I hope this makes sense and is helpful to someone besides myself.
