Autism Test & General Discussion Anonymous 01/06/15 (Tue) 02:10:27 No. 5650
Have any autists taken this test?
I haven't yet been formally diagnosed, but suspect something's off about me based on research, this test, and the fact that, though I graduated from the Ivy League, I had trouble tying my shoes and opening car doors until I was a teenager.
Anyone here get diagnosed as an adult?
Did things change for you once you had answers for why you were always a bit different from normal people?
Test info:
>The Aspie Quiz was developed by Rdos. It’s been through many revisions over the years, with the addition and subtraction of questions based on, among other things, how well the questions correlate with the answers of diagnosed individuals. If you’re interested in statistics or how tests like this are developed, you’ll love the Aspie Quiz Evaluation page. It has a wealth of information on the rationale for which questions have been included or dropped as well as the correlation between quiz scores and various diagnoses. http://rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php My score:
>Your neurodiverse (Aspie) score: 165 of 200 >Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 42 of 200 >You are very likely neurodiverse (Aspie)
Anonymous 01/06/15 (Tue) 04:25:33 No. 5658
You could be autistic, but the only way to know is to be diagnosed by a professional. Here are my results: >Your neurodiverse (Aspie) score: 149 of 200>Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 75 of 200 >You are very likely neurodiverse (Aspie) >Did things change for you once you had answers for why you were always a bit different from normal people? I was diagnosed as a teenager, it didn't change anything because I was always odd compared to my peers.

I was diagnosed as an 'adult' with autism no more than a couple months ago. I took the test just now. I have trouble tying my shoes among a plethora of other things. I seem to do it correctly and then they just come undone. Fuck. I just tuck my shoelaces into the shoes under my feet if I'm in a hurry. Things have changed somewhat. I realized that all of the scrutiny I have received from day one due to my general ineptitude is not because I was being lazy or whatever on purpose, but that I was pushed into environments that I could not adapt to and subsequently ridiculed for. As a toddler, strangers would try to use baby talk at me and I would have a complete breakdown and lose my shit. My family caught wind of my diagnosis and prefer to believe that I am this way on purpose. I'm pleased if I can make it past my front door to check the mailbox these days. But yeah, you could likely be a 'sperg. Depends on if a doctor is willing to actually help you or just throw antidepressants at you.

I've seen some numbers that say unemployment rates in autistic adults is around 76% to 90%.[1] I've only recently accepted that I can't change who I am, and this is how it's going to be for the long haul.

Besides this I spend most of my time alone in my thoughts or walking and letting me see/hear… stuff as I want.
Can't really say anything about autists in general. I just have my experience.
About work it's easy. There's stuff to do, I have to find a way so it's done and I like finding the best way. Don't really care about other people.

Was never formally diagnosed with any mental problems, as a result of never going to a psychologist despite some mental problems in the past. Not as an adult, but pretty late. Autism was often mentioned but my parents insisted I was fine.
I learned to just brush it off and deny it until I got a friend who had all the same traits/symptoms/whatever brought it up and I listened.
I have been diagnosed with ASD, anxiety, major depression, OCD and likely ADD. Was diagnosed with social phobia but was rediagnosed with a phobia of being around too many people (forgot the term)
