Is anyone here familiar with ADD?

I got diagnosed about a year ago. At first i tried Ritalin, but that gave me serious headaches after the dosage wore off. I then switched to dexamphetamine, which had a much milder effect, but didn't give me the headaches.

The main problem is that dexampetamine seriously fucks up my appetite, and the slow release version isnt an improvement.

Can anyone suggest any cheap alternatives that i might be able to try? Stuff like Vyvanse is super expensive ($100+ for a month's supply) and i can't afford it.

My doctor is extremely reluctant to discuss other medication options (not sure why) and it will take me at least a month to get an appointment with another doctor.

I have ADD at least i was diagnosed with one when i was a kid and i have never had any meds for that, i don't even see why one should have some.

Why do your doctors stuff you full of meds, just that you can take meds for the meds?

 No.6186

I am diagnosed with ADD.

I've been on methylphenidate. It sucked. Heart palpitations, tiredness, the works.

Caffeine doesn't work like it used to. I drink it at home to ward off tiredness when I don't need to work.

My go-to for getting stuff done is nicotine chewing gums. Nicotine messes with your hormones in the long run, but occasional use is about as bad or less bad than coffee.

Oh and I just remembered that it's a SFW board so you're not allowed to post such things even though I don't really mind and it got my attention, I'm ashamed to admit.

Also look into fixing your diet and working out. It helps with pretty much everything in your life, including ADD.

I have diagonsed ADD+ANXIETY yesterday. (Previously I was diagonsed with ANXIETY+DEPRASION)I started taking concerta today I read like 1000 pages after that. Which is better than the day before. Also use concerta instead of ritalin because of time capsule thing. When you take ritalin its start its effect immedealty. However concerta disolves over time. Also I use cymbalta but weirdly enough it doesnt help anything with anxiety but it fixed my body clock, masturbation, sleep times.

Concerta makes your heart beat faster. Which is bad thing but it makes feel alive. I am taking weird pleasure from it.

Also cafeine isnt an alternative for me since it doesnt work on me.

Meh what a bullshit. Is your next advise going to be ``just be urself :)``. That is like saying washing your hands will cure your cancer.

 No.6189

Why would you need to take meds for ADD?

 No.6192

>>6188
No, it's like saying washing your hands prevents disease transmission. It's based in science. It won't prevent you from getting stuff like gingivitis but it'll stop you from bringing germs near mucous membranes and thus getting into your system.

But fine, don't try it, I don't care. I'm just a lot healthier and I have more structure in my life than I've had before. Be a good goy and take your pills.

Well I am glad for you then. But I cant stop thinking you didnt had any serious problem at start too. If you can fix it by diet and sport I am glad. I tried both. Yes they made me bit happy and self confident. But in the end they havent done anything and toke big portion of my life(have to prepare food carefully and have do sports at spefic times etc.)

Also if you actually read the stuff you sent me both group in that expriment also recived methylphenidate.

>The current results indicate that aerobic exercise increased /////////the effectiveness of methylphenidate/////// on clinical symptoms, perseverative errors, and brain activity within the right frontal and temporal cortices in response to the Wisconsin card sorting test stimulation.

Also if you even read the fucking thing exercising/diet have chance of weakining syptomps of it.IT IS NOT CURING THE MOTHERFUCKING DIEASE.

/////physical exercise might ameliorate symptoms of ADHD.////

Also OBVIOUSLY TEHRE WILL BE GENERAL IMPROVMENT WHEN YOU FUCKING EXERCISE AND DIET. IF YOU BRAIN IS FUCKED UP YOU CANT CURE WITH FUCKING GOOD WILL AND EXERCISE/FOOD.

I was the same fucking same. I denied the treatment. I tought pills were terrible. Yes they are not FUCKING magic pills. Yes THEY HAVE SOME SIDE EFFECTS. BUT FOR FUCKS SAKE I CAN FINNALY READ ANYTHING THAT IS LONGER THAN 2 PAGE. DO YOU HAVE ANY FUCKING IDEA HOW SHITTY IS THAT YOU CANT EVEN READ A BOOK YOU ARE REALLY INTERESTED IN. DO YOU HAVE ANY FUCKING IDEA. GO EAT YOUR SHITTY FRUITS OKAY. GO DO YOUR SPORTS. YOU ARE PROBABLY ONE OF %90 PEOPLE WHO GOT MISS-DIAGONESSED. STOP PUTTTING EVERYONE IN YOUR SHOES. I FUCKING USE PILLS. I CAN FINALY READ SOME STUFF. I CAN FINNALY STUDY. I CAN FINNALY FUCKING READ LORD OF RINGS RATHER THAN WATCHING FUCKING MOVIE. I AM FUCKING MAD BECAUSE PEOPLE LIKE YOU LINK SOME BULLSHIT AND THINK OH I JUST READ THE TITLE OF THIS STUDY I AM SO FUCKING GENIOUS. OH I KNOW HOW TO TIE MY SHOES SO IT MEANS I AM ALSO EXPERT ON FUCKING ADHD.GO FUCK YOURSELF. GOOD FOR YOU. YOU DIPSHIT. Not him, but chill out dude.

 No.6197

Oh, I guess I am fixed now? I guess I'll go out and be happy.

I'm talking about how I have a lot more structure in my life, compared to having no structure. I've improved, but I still think of myself as fucked in the head. Cooking takes a bit of time, sure. But I also use supplements and stuff that help me a lot.

You were talking about how it is bullshit that diet and exercise helps. And now you're screaming about how it's obvious and I'm such a dipshit for having to link a study supporting my claim.

It's great that the drugs work for you. For me, they work when I go out airsofting and want to perform 110%, physically, and pass out when I come home. Mentally they only make me worse, because they increase anxiety which distracts me.

Sorry. I just hate miss-information.

I was diagnosed at 9 and given stratera for 5 years. As an adult I don't think it's necessary anymore. I've lived with this long enough to know how to deal with it and work responsibly. If ADD is giving you issues than find a way to get past it without drugs. I'd suggest making check lists to focus and prioritize work/school.

Weed is cheap in many places and some people claim that it helps. I can't confirm but I do smoke regularly.

Dude, he (>>6192) said that diet and exercise helps, not that it was a cure.

Chill, man.
