I've been starting to think mental disorders, expecially personality ones, are often demonized too much, and people fight them way too much.

This might be crazy talk, but what if people could live with their disorder peacefully, shaping it to better fit them?

What if, under lucky circumstances, one could develop and manipulate his disorder as a trait of his personality, and have a normal productive life?

What if there was a way to get a use of what we hated so much?

What if eliminating personality disorders meant (figuratively) cutting a piece of your personality off?

 No.9629

Let's not turn this into the next fat acceptance movement, ok?

 No.9631

As far as I'm aware the term 'disorder' only refers to personality structures that are impairing the persons ability to live. I think that if we as a culture were able to identify and better understand the difference between the facets of a personality and a genuine disorder we could probably minimize some developmental issues that would lead to full blown disorders.

You don't understand.

I deeply dislike and pity the ones with no control over their minds.

And as a psychopath, i can't say i have an unfulfilling life, as the hypothesis i set earlier might have pointed out on me.

But i think what we could be dealing with is a form of racial discrimination here.

I see the ones of my kind purged by the normie doctors you call psychologists.

And as much as i complain myself over the faults of my people, i can't justify this massacre, caused by the ones who cannot understand us in the first place.

This. A disorder is only a disorder when it has a great negative effect on your life.

For instance tons of people have obsessive compulsive traits where they get greatly bothered if a pattern is disrupted (badly done tiles, pencils that aren't the same size, books put on a shelf wrong, etc.) but they can ignore it and move on if there is something more important to be doing.

It becomes OCD when that person actually can't do whatever they need to do. They MUST sort the books or they MUST make sure their pencils are the same height because if they don't they'll have horrible anxiety.

If you have traits of a disorder but it isn't stopping you from living your life it's not considered a disorder.

 No.9634

If its something that doesnt actually cause too much harm for you or fighting it causes more harm than good, then just accept it and live with it. As for what others will think? You shouldnt give a flying fuck about that. I dont want people accepting and tolerating anything anymore, its gone too far.

I agree.

But as a permanently-stuck-in-mind-disorders anon, i wanted to give you guys my happy, lightminded point of view.

I think you are all wonderful, and you deserve more from your lives.

The same fact you're a self-confined in this little board means we share something in common.

Never stop fighting, cause there is no lost fight, as soon as you keep on moving on, improving slowly, making little efforts each time, going further and further each day.

Have hope, cause you're not wrong.

You're just born with less than others.

But hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.

There is more out there that should be needing your attentions more than your problems.

Your life needs you, and you need to break free.

Pic related.

 No.9637

I try to extract the positives from my disorder (creativity, etc) and use them to my advantage.

Also, what are those anime pics from? Looks interesting.

I'll spoiler cause unrelated.

First one is Punchline, funny anime, really sexy and absurd. The plot is so stupid it manages to be fun. There's not much time for it anyway.

Second one is from the videogame Fire Emblem Awakening for the 3DS, a game often given the flaw of pandering to waifufags. Yes you can have a waifu in it. Yes it is stupid.

Idk about the third one.

And btw, i'm glad you managed to take the good out of your disorder.

ADD is pretty much a mental handicap for me. But sure, it influences my personality; how I have conversations. They flow and travel a lot. I can cover a wide array of stuff in a short period of time, and will share a lot of experiences that I associate with what we're talking about.

But I think slower. I have problems motivating myself, even though I am kind of ambitious. I don't want to be unmotivated and distracted. I still waste days playing video games thinking I'd just spend an hour on them.

That's what I DO. I'm not gonna change, so I've learned to cope, fake normality, and switch them on when I need them.

Still catches me out. Autistic focus plus memory issues mean I drop one thing, super-focus on another, finish it, then completely forget what I was doing before.

The blogging platform that thinks mayonnaise is a gender. This board here filters it to fuckbaby island.

I should also clarify what I mean. I'm definitely all for removing stigma of mental disorders so that more people are more willing to look for the help they need instead of hiding but there's a clear line between that and romanticizing something that, if not treated right, can severely screw up a person. And honestly, it's very easy for the more naive to do that.

Then again, I never really understood the point of things like pride for your ethnicity or nationality or sexuality to begin with. I honestly not sure why anybody would be proud to be "mad."

I know how you feel.

No one should feel alright for what they are, just for the sake of it.

If everyone would try to improve for the sake of being better we would live in a better world.

> I honestly not sure why anybody would be proud to be "mad."

In order to show alternative attitude toward madness. What is funny is that normies are using and praising certain legacy of certain mad people and mad ficional characters (eg. Jesus from Nazareth, Kurt Cobain, James Bond), but only when majority is doing so.

Schizophrenic here.

I am living a normal and productive life because I take my meds

Is this what you're talking about?

 No.9683

>>9682

I think OP more meant finding a way to, in your case, use your schizophrenia to somehow make something more of your life than you could without the meds. Which is about as ridiculous as it sounds.

AHAHAHAHAHA

But we have to purge you! We have to learn how to discriminate you!

First thing first: what defines a psychopath? what makes them different from other personality dissorders?

They know no rules, no repentance, no sympathy from other's pain. They only live for their own sake, and nothing else.

In a nutshell: a psychopath has a faulty super-ego

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Id,_ego_and_super-ego#Super-ego

Most psychopaths take pride in this traits, and that also differs them from most other "dissorders": an obsesive person wants to stop obsessing, a depressive one wants to be happy, an anxious one wants to relax, etc

But they are right in taking pride of these traits because psychopaty is not a dissorder. It's infinitely helpful, but only for the psychopathic individual. Not for the rest of us, for the society.

You are a danger to us.

And the same way a psychopath preys on others as soon as he sees a chance to increase his profit, the rest of us (non-psychopaths), who can't do that without feeling bitchy old moral biting our asses, have to exterminate you, or at least check your progress.

Salut
