Many historic threads have snowballed into passionate rants against objectionable views held by OP's high profile source, yet the source often turns out to the OP themselves pulling the old bait-and-switch with their own writing. There are still three threads up right now representing "White Monsters Savagely Rape Babies on Camera" and "White Pedophile Cops, Teachers" citing inquisitr and lockerdome with 50 post rants on anti-white bias following each despite the articles not existing. There were a large batch of "Males: The Sexual Terrorists" articles from "CNN" up a few days ago with similar fallout, and a huge one stating the average white man to black slaves before that.
I'm all for writing your own OP, regardless of the content, but claiming it is actually the New York Times' view for reaction should be a banable offence, or at least warrant a warning be placed to alert posters of this fact.

I think BambooDL (and Shadey's fork BamDL) are best suited for a single user to archive threads they want to preserve, and not so much for a public archive.
Hotwheels can have threads archive *once* as they die, which community tools can't do; our archivers keep asking the server "is it done yet? is it done yet?" until the thread finally 404's; no other way to do it really, unless you run something serverside (which is what he's now doing). Thanks for sharing the release thread though, there'll be another update soon. Personal backups are still important for proving to yourself something happened a certain way, in-case revisionism happens later, and of course for fun.

Often the topic diverges onto the general subject brought up by the article inviting people to post related articles to substantiate their points. Wondering if we can require news articles to have at least one tag in OP.
This way we can track trending topics and perhaps improve the visibility of less discussed topics while still allowing highly discussed topics to keep themselves alive and available to those who are interested in them.
This would greatly improve the novelty factor of the news and lead to the discussion of a much wider variety of topics.
This way, those who wish to continue a 2-week long discussion about a certain topic in a thread can do so, while those who wish to participate in a wider variety of discussions for a shorter amount of time have the ability to do so as well.
Somehow, I feel like more variety would be more interesting and would attract a larger audience. I don't want to in any way hamper the existing audience, because I think that people should be allowed to discuss stories in greater depth and detail, this can lead to users developing new stories and tying ideas together with an evolving narrative that allows strong ideas to be maintained and give visibility to weak ones to have a much better chance of generating new, interesting discussions.
The old topics and the new topics are then allowed to coexist without either being in danger of displacing the other.

In addition to requiring a subject in the subject box, have a "source" box, rather than requiring a hyperlink in the thread.
Hyperlinks to 3rd party sources lead people away from 8ch, which you don't want if you want to increase and maintain traffic.
"Source" material can be a piece of information or a link of any type. So it can be a magnet link to a torrent file, a pdf, anything that doesn't contain executable code.
It could be a hyperlink as well, but hyperlinking to a 3rd party news source is fucking stupid and drives away traffic.
People could be uploading their own data sources and writing their own news right here if you gave them the opportunity.
I'd also suggest keeping the "file" box the way it is on the board, and just add the "Source" box for boards who opt into requiring data sources for accompanying information.
