That worked way better on, say, 2ch, where threads weren't pruned as often as on western Chan boards do to the differences in site design

I think we should experiment with a higher number of thread pages, higher post limits, but no thread bumping whatsoever, I think this will encourage people to stray past page 1 for content

sage has been invisible on 4chan since sometime in 2013 and has helped in avoiding the shitposters who only posted "sage" and similar.

Perhaps a different algorithm to order posts, something involving age of thread, number of replies and age of last reply. That way old threads should eventually gravitate down even if bumped, but an active old thread will get bumped further up than an inactive old thread with a single reply.

If someone uploads an album or something and I don't have anything to contribute to the thread other than "thanks anon," that is when I will normally use sage. However I usually only do this on /jp/ where people understand how to use sage correctly so the uploader won't become confused and butthurt.

It's different though; you can't bury a thread by "downvoting" it, and you can't just "upvote" without commenting.

Sage is most useful for porn boards. If you want to ask for a source or make a comment, you sage. If you want to post more porn, you don't sage. This makes browsing the catalog a lot easier when you are looking for new content in between fap sessions, especially on the slow boards.
