Hey anons. /cow/ and /b/ lurker here. Rare poster that usually makes shit threads but I thought I'd make a thread an operate about something. And before someone says that the thread I'm making should be on /meta/, I don't think so. This concerns the existence of the site itself and I think that if we want to get anywhere we should discuss things in a civil manner.
Now I remember that yesterday was a shitstorm but please listen. 8chan is now having a major issue. These cucks from intl are willing to fuck around with boards they don't like. And the issue comes when boards like the new leddit board get attacked. They're on top 3 because of this stupidity. To the anons that jumped the gun, why didn't you think for a second if these people are that bad? They are no different from some of us. Exiled from Leddit because of SJW rules. Sound familiar? When they nuked /pol/ or started banning us for having an opinion. They may be from Reddit but they are far from that bad. If you really hate Reddit so much, ignore the board.
Hotwheels, I wanna discuss this with you so please for the love of god, respond to this thread so we anons can have a discussion because the site is in a serious mess right now. There's 2 main issues I see here. Anons trying to make this the "cool kids private place" and how top boards are picked. I get it, you've been baited the fuck out by 4-5 anons always bitching about the top boards but the system needs to be changed.
The problem with intl is that if you delete the board, that's considered moot-like behavior. But if you sit around doing jack shit you're also insulted. What the fuck are you supposed to do then? I think that if the top boards pick is redesigned it'll help.
Top boards shouldn't be picked based on quantity but on quality. That's the main issue here. You could implement a system where boards are based around upvotes but that'll just get spammed by bots. Perhaps making the system so it can only use proper IPs instead of proxies or VPNs could work. But would that make the site more like Reddit. Would people bitch and moan about it again? Would intl take advantage and fuck the site over again?

I used to go to a forum where they had only three enforced rules: no illegal stuff, no doxing, and no quote-mining people outside of jokes. People were always testing the admins' limits. The owner threatened to close the place twice.

Here's a suggestion: Remove top 25 entirely and replace it with a random daily rotation of 25 boards with post counts above 100. No favoritism, boards with low/no traffic get noticed by the entire website, and people who frequent their favorite (current) top 25 boards can still do it with their favorites list.
The top 25 being there is almost pointless. The top 5 really never move. If people want to see which boards have the most traffic, they can check the full board list.
I'll say it again: Get rid of top 25 and you completely get rid of the problem of proxy spamming (in order to get into the top 25 to be noticed by the entire website) and you create an environment where the user-created boards feature can truly thrive.

This thread has put my mind at ease. Here's the thing about raids: they can only go on for so long. Eventually the retards from /intl/ will get bored, everyone who left because of the raids will come back, and everything will be back the way it was.
HW, don't bother banning /intl/, all that would happen is that they'd make a new board and do the same shit. Literally all that would do is renew their resolve. Just let them get bored and they will. The thing is, unless they can keep up a raid of this level for MONTHS, anons WILL come back. Ban bots and spam of course, but just remember that this is a shitstorm like any other, and all that will really happen is that a bunch of anons will take a break from 8chan for a few weeks. HW should make creating a new board a paid service. I know this sounds retarded, but it is not really meant as a source of income, but rather a filter to ensure people don't just make 20 boards and do jack fucking shit with them. It could be a single dollar to open up a new board and you don't really have to pay anymore, this is useful because most people can't be bothered to go through a paywall even if it were to cost $0.01. This would also ensure it would be more difficult (although not impossible) to spam boards. Current boards could stay the way they are, while any new board would need to have that entry fee. As a result we will have a shitload less boards and therefore it will be easier to find shit, less bandwidth would be used and boards would fracture much less (/pol/ has like fucking 50 boards, /v/ has a couple dozen and then you have a shitload of either shitposting boards or EXTREMELY niche ones (for shit that could be contained in a single thread)).
