Chans don't last long if the reason for them is "I'm going to make my own 4 Chan with blackjack and hookers." There has to be a niche that 4 Chan doesn't have. I'll use 420 Chan as an example because it's been running for 9 years. It has drugs, of course, but it also has boards people have wanted on 4 Chan for a while like wrestling and history. It also a very different look and feel to it. It's grown it's own identity to an extent.

Another example is different languages. 4 Chan was originally meant to be just a counterpart to a Japanese imageboard. And in turn, 4 Chan spawned the Spanish language Hispachan, which has found it's own niche through its language.

Meanwhile, 8 Chan has shittier coding and only has two niches. Pedophilia is highly illegal pretty much universally- whereas on 420 Chan it's just discussion and there's a chance said drugs you're talking about could be perfectly legal where you live. The other is facilitating hate groups that have been driven out of the asshole of the internet that is 4 Chan. The first is trouble enough. The second ties your chan to fate of that hate group. And, of course, the mob can easily turn on you.

So, yeah, despite years and years of evidence to go on about what Chans can survive and which ones can't, Hotwheels didn't seem to understand how to make a successful Chan.

See here is the thing you don't realize: Those of us who actually are oldfags know that moot sometimes bans shit that gets spammed.

in the old days I used AnonIB, now I use 8chan...

8chan does have a niche, it's the make-your-own-IB niche, which will always struggle to survive in a sea of pedoshit, but people will always love the fun of making their own IB even if it's shit. chan communities are, in my eyes, largely temporary things, and that is fine. these make-your-own type ones are fun. I like seeing what other people make. They're like an art gallery of people's weird obsessions and ego trips.

People gonna call you salty and make fun of your post but I was there and I know what you're talking about. i agree with pretty much everything you said, although I don't care about the kids here being 'posers' and whatnot. But you're right about mootykins and how 4chan used to be an all that. like you said I feel pretty indifferent to admins censoring played out bullshit. In my opinion, 4chan as we knew it is pretty much dead and really I think Chanology was the beginning of the terminal cancer. Not that it matters much...But that old, cozy, upbeat atmosphere's never gonna come back. Honestly, us oldfriends probably do seem like rebbit compared the the edge of the current 4chan and 8chan userbases.
