The situation has past and everything is operating as normal so there's not much point in dwelling on this much longer in my opinion. Also the drama seems to have been overblown and wasn't nearly as big of a deal as everyone was making it to be. Only /gamergate/ and twttter cared, twitter is cancer as usual and /gamergate/ kept the discussion contained largely in one large megathread (except for the shitposters who kept making new threads about how "GG is kill" and were trolling as usual). Which is strange since when Niko pulled his shit, every gamergate area knew about it and was posting about it but people seemed to have largely ignored this one. Seems like shit-stirrers are trying to make this into a bigger thing against gamergate then it really was, unless I missed something.


I've already said my piece in this thread multiple times so whatever one final recap: I like Blade, I like the mods, I am generally fine with /gamergate/ even though it's more containment board then anything.


Creating drama and stirring shit, distracting the board for a good while, which in turn flooded the place with spammers and shit is obnoxious and doesn't help anyone. Whatever point anyone was trying to prove is moot since all it really did in the end was cement why people were generally becoming more and more annoyed with trolling "for teh lulz" in the first place (this has been a growing sentiment since all the way back in October, when third-party trolling "for the lulz" were really causing us a lot of problems and getting us blamed for shit we didn't do), will make people even more on edge, and all it did was waste time and lower people's trust even more (which will increase more paranoia). There was a reason we abandoned Niko even though he pulled the "it was just a joke" card: trust was lost. Someone just "pretending" that he's going to throw this board under the bus or to people who don't care about it, or to people whom have contributed to us getting shitted on and give ammo to the media outlets looking for a scapegoat in the controversy will obviously get a reaction out of people, and no amount of "verification" would have changed a thing. Anyone who isn't a newfag, who was around for the Niko shenanigans and has been paying attention to gamergate since it's inception should be well aware of this, and yet decided it was a good idea to bait people in this manner anyway. But whatever.

On the flip side, I'm glad that people here didn't immediately abandoned ship and waited for verification on what was going on, but yes people jumped the gun and got bootyblasted and butthurt. We took the bait and got caught. We should have been more open to discussing with Blade personally on what was going on before going crazy. In the end, it was harmless, it amounted to nothing serious, and one could make the argument that some were too trigger happy with accusations and stuff instead of finding out what was going on. If stuff really was going down, all we had to do was just change boards anyway and nothing really would changed, so we did contribute in making this more dramatic then it should have been. While I feel that a lot is riding on this for some people (especially for our comrades that are not anonymous), we do sometimes need to lighten up. And yes, gamergate needs some more verification sometimes. I agree wholeheartedly. We're not perfect but it's also a valid criticism, even though I think there were more productive ways to get this across (hell, if you had just made a thread that gamergate needs to stop believing what it hears then a good long megathread of introspection would have came from it). Gamergate was being faggots and anyone who thinks so should be calling us out.

Blade should have just handed the board off to someone else who would have done it right if he was feeling burned out but he did this. So it kind of makes him the antagonist in this as well. I don't condone the people blowing this overboard and comparing him to Ghazi or SJWs, but he was pretty much pouring gas on the fire here so he can't really pretend he was innocent in all of this. It started as a joke but he did nothing to rectify the situation.

If people migrate to a new GG board, that is just how it goes, but as things stand now, there is nothing really to be mad about.
