Though a largely unknown band, Sortsind is considered an early pioneer of the modern DSBM.

That album art is genuinely uncomfortable to look at. Good on them, goregrind cover art doesn't rattle me near as much as that face.

Any recommendations for DSBM in general? I'm intrigued by the idea of black metal with an emphasis on the "sorrowful" aspect, though most of what I've heard just comes off as edgy and whiny. That Sortsind is pretty great though. Real stomach churning stuff, straight out of a horror movie.

Most DSBM is just regular Black Metal with depressing lyrics. But Sortsind is just one of those bands that have a distinct sound

Look up Raw Black Metal if you want a Sortsind like sound
