 No.3696

Lets make a top 10 must listen list of albums for this board. No pleb tier garbage like Dragon force , Anon Armarth, etc. Here are a few of my suggestions.

 No.3700

Sunn O))) is pretentious garbage, Cannibal Corpse is cool, but nothing exceptional as far as death metal goes. It's good as a must listen for newbies who need an introduction.
I'd nominate:
Judas Priest - Sad Wings of Destiny
Slayer - Show No Mercy
Incantation - Onward To Golgotha
Summoning - Minas Morgul

 No.3704

Obviously we can't forget the classic
Dio - Holy Diver

A good case could probably be made for
Behemoth - The Satanist
but we might want to wait until it's gotten a little less knew to see if it has staying power.

Necrophagist - Epitaph
Needs no argument

This is probably a personal thing but I still haven't heard an album I've enjoyed more than it
Xanthochroid - Blessed He with Boils

Allegaeon - Elements of the Infinite
probably deserves at least an honorable mention

Mastodon - Crack the Skye

I would probably replace Filosofem with
Burzum - Hviss Lyset Tar Oss

Darkthrone - Transylvanian Hunger

I feel like there isn't enough power metal involved so maybe
Blind Guardian - Somewhere Far Beyond

Finally,
Slayer - Hell Awaits
Even though I'm not really a fan of Slayer I can admit that it was just so influential and important to metal that I would put it in the top 10.

I think that's a pretty good combo respecting the classics but still acknowledging that something doesn't have to be twenty years old to be good.

Seconding Minas Morgul.

I recommend
Deadhorse: Peaceful Death and Pretty Flowers
Peste Noire: Peste Noire
Kvist: For Kunsten Maa Vi Evig Vike
Darkthrone: Panzerfaust
Godflesh: Streetcleaner
Khanate: Khanate
Agoraphobic Nosebleed: Agorapocalypse
Jucifer: If Thine Enemy Hunger
Acid Bath: When the Kite String Pops
Paysage D'hiver: Das Tor
Mayhem: De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Anything by Satanic Warmaster.

I know I went over ten, but we can worry about narrowing it down later.

Sure

Coven - Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls
More Psychedelic Rock than Metal, but sure did help start the genre of metal

Venom - Black Metal
Black Metal/Thrash Metal, more on the Thrash side, but did inspire the Black Metal genre, and deserves the mention

Pantera - Far Beyond Driven
Groove Metal, it's fucking Pantera, nothing really much to say

Church Of Misery - Master of Brutality
Doom/Sludge/Stoner Metal, the Nips sure know how to make some fucking slow, dirty metal

Celtic Frost - Morbid Tales
Thrash/Death/Black Metal, it's hard to say what genre it is, since it influenced all those genres, but it's a fucking staple in Heavy Metal and should be included

Bathory - Under the Sign of the Black Mark
Black Metal, personally, it's where Bathory really peaked in their music

Acid Bath - When the Kite String Pops
Sludge Metal, that classic NOLA sludge metal

Black Sabbath - Sabotage
Heavy Metal, not really as popular as Master of Reality, Paranoid, or even Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, it's still a great fucking album, and a must listen

Down - NOLA
Sludge Metal, I may get some shit for this, but it's a great fucking album, especially if you like Sludge or Stoner in general

Crowbar - Crowbar
Sludge Metal, another great fucking NOLA sludge album, again, a must listen to if you're into Sludge

Saint Vitus - Saint Vitus
Doom Metal, a classic, Saint Vitus is one of the pioneers of Doom, it should be a must listen if you enjoy Doom Metal

That's about it, I may have listed some from other's list, but I guess that validates their spot on the list.

>2 out of 10 bands that aren't Cookie-cutter Death/black Metal

Wow. Very diverse.

 No.3754

>>3753
There isn't a single death metal band on that list. And it's really stretching it to call Mayhem or Darkthrone underground. Let's see your list faggot.

 No.3755

>>3754
Deadhorse - Death/Thrash Metal, Crossover
Peste Noire - Black Metal
Kvist - Melodic Black Metal
Darkthrone - Death Metal (early), Black Metal (mid), Black/Heavy/Speed Metal (later)
Khanate - Drone/Doom Metal
Agoraphobic Nosebleed - Grindcore
Jucifer - Sludge/Doom Metal/Drone/Punk
Acid Bath - Sludge/Doom Metal
Paysage D'hiver - Black Metal
Mayhem - Black Metal

If 8 out of 10 bands are nothing more than edgy cookie-cutter shit and the singers sound like they are choking on their own spit, you know something isn't right.

 No.3756

>>3755
Oh I see you're that autistic that you're counting Darkthrone even though that's a black metal album I named. But yeah let's see your list man if you have such great taste.
