What's your favorite album art of all time? For me it's a tie. Darkthrone's A Blaze in the Northern Sky cover really embodies about everything that I love about black metal in general. It's dark, foreboding, and oh-so evil. And Helloween's cover for Keeper of the Seven Keys II is the other. I really like everything about it, the setting, the somewhat fantasy nature of it, and the surrealness.
Of course there are a ton of others that are great, but these are the two that stick out the most to me.

That Darkthrone album cover is great.
Sticking with the black metal theme, I love Watain's Lawless Darkness, and not because I'm a sucker for Bielak's work.

I can't decide since I haven't really thought about it before, but I like these. They look like the music sounds.

Here's another one that I neglected to mention that really stands out to me. Midnight Odyssey's Funerals From the Astral Sphere. Dis Pater even made all of the art himself.

A blaze in the the northern sky Is fucking awesome.
I also really love Hvis lyset tar oss. I feel it really captures the feeling of the music.
Overall though, I'll have to give this some more thought.

I'm not entirely sure what it is about Kvelertak's self-titled album, but it is just very attractive. I really like how it's this super depressive sort of scary topic in these bright vibrant colors. It's almost a little reminiscent of the Garden of Earthly Delights.
Type O's final album has some really obvious symbolism in choosing Rasputin as the main focus of the album art. Just the whole idea that you can't kill them and that even though they haven't been around for years they're still the same.
Wormrot's Abuse isn't some grand statement. It just looks fucking cool and fits the music perfectly.

>>3805I'm not too into their music but both Kvelertak albums have some neat cover art.

>>3812Same. I don't dislike them or anything. There's just nothing that really pulls me into them.

I would have liked this more if not for the circle frame. It seems like a mediocre attempt at contemporary art. Would've been way cooler if the art just continued out towards the sides with spherical distortion.
That being said it's still a nice cover.

Musicwise Scarlet Evil Witching Black is their better album, but I just love this cover.

Ulver generally has great album art.

Honestly I'd like these a lot more if not for the fact that the "black and white cover with a guy in corpse paint" has become really overdone. It can still be done well, but I'd really like to see some originality.

Aw shit, Abandon Incarnate is pretty great. Hope they start being more prolific soon.
Eyehategod's covers have never been great, but they certainly have an uneasy feel to them.

I like the simplicity in this, even if it's a little cheesy.
