I love the glee in Dee's voice whenever he retells this story in interviews.

 No.3986

Is TS really metal though?

 No.3988

>>3986
I think I would call them "honorary metal" if nothing else. It all falls under the umbrella of "rock and roll" anyway.

 No.3991

>>3986
Well, the band consider themselves metal, their peers consider them as metal, their fans consider them as metal. So yes, they're metal.

 No.3992

>>3988
"Honorary metal" is a perfect term for that.

 No.3993

>>3991
Genres aren't described by consensus of some nebulous forces, you're either metal or you're not. Twisted Sister has some songs that are more hard rock, but they also have a lot of heavy metal songs as well.

>Genres aren't described by consensus of some nebulous forces

What the fuck are you talking about? The metal community, top-to-bottom, unanimously accepts them as a metal band and part of the culture. What's nebulous about that?

Yeah, TS is rather tame compared to what metal, as a whole, evolved into. To the point where today you'd describe their songs as hard rock before you'd say they were metal. But they were considered metal then, and are still considered metal now. I don't see what's debatable here.

Shit, even some Black Sabbath and Judas Priest albums are considered tame now. What I meant to say is that Twisted Sister doesn't need approval of anyone to be called metal, they've always played heavy metal and have thus been a part of the metal community. Dee Snider also stuck his neck out for metal for more than just a few occasions, him destroying the PMRC is just the most well known case.

Pretty unfunny tbh. Humor for basic bitch metalheads.

Yep. Making metal versions of [insert teen pop act here] is the oldest stalest joke in the book

 No.4364

>>4362

Let's not forget about those metal covers of pop songs everyone thinks are "SO FAHNNY". So many basic bitches will try to get me to listen to that shit thinking it's original and not concept that was beaten to death by at least 8 years ago.

A lot of the people that enjoy that shit tend have shit taste anyways.

I imagine a lot of the people making these jokes are edgy 15 yo's who think actively hating on pop music is a revolutionary act

 No.4384

You're right, the "explosion" of what you call basic metalhead bitches getting damp over metal covers of pop or rock songs pretty much happened 10 years ago, I think it was because Children of Bodom released that Britney Spears cover.

Out of the bands I know, I know that Blind Guardian did covers of The Beach Boys back in the late 80s, Angra did a cover of Kate Bush in '93, Voivod did a cover of Pink Floyd in '89 and Sanctuary did a cover of Jefferson Airplane in '87. There's many more, but those are the ones I could think of and they were actually pretty good and didn't even really feel gimmicky in comparison to today's metal bands (except for Blind Guardian's cover of Barbara Ann which was atrocious) who just do it because it's "cool" and "hip" and "ironic".
