Hey, any drummers here? I wanna start playing the drums as my next instrument because it seems so fun, but the acoustic drums are too loud so people in my house would get upset, and electronic drums are are too expensive for me. So are there any alternatives for practice at least? I don't want to play in a band or anything, i want to have them at home to bang on for fun.

Well there might be a few alternatives but they are nothing like playing actual drums. You can start by using your left knee as the hi-hat and right leg as the snare. Use the floor as a kick drum. This is the closest you can get and you can actually learn songs like this! Won't be a lot of fun though.

I use something similar to this to record demos (Right now I'm a one man project. I do the Bass, Guitar, Drums and vocal parts.) Its not exactly like a drum set (When I was in a 2 man project I played Rhythm guitar and an acoustic set)

The pads do have bounce to them so you can do snare/tom rolls, Blast beats and what have you. But I'd only recommend replacing the kick foot switch with a drum tower pad and a real kick or double kick pedal.

It's not perfect but you'll get some experience with the drums and be able to work out interesting patterns.

I play in a band and we rent a room for rehearsing and shit near an industrial area. I recommend seeing if there's any such thing available where you are. There must be. I don't mean industrial areas, but rehearsal rooms.

>I don't want to play in a band or anything

This is mostly only a viable solution if you got some folks to play with, though. And I do recommend doing just that. It's more fun than alone.
