Covers thread

Post metal covers you love. Can be of other metal or non-metal songs.

Band: Crowbar

Song: No Quarter

Cover of: Led Zeppelin

Reason I like it: They took a big fat sludgy dump on the song and made it their's.

Band: Aska

Song: Abuse Myself (I want to Die)

Cover of: GG Allin

Reason I like it: Added DSBM filthiness and lo-fi to an already edgy as fuck song.

 No.4639

Band: Marilyn Manson

Song: Son of Sam

Cover of: Black Sabbath

Reason I like it: Creative lyrics about the serial killer convinced to kill by his demon dog; an industrially peppered take on the (over-covered) Iron Man

 No.4640

Band: Type O Negative

Song: Bad Moon Rising

Cover of: Creedence Clearwater Festival

Reason I like it: Never officially released, this bootleg version has Pete insulting the shit out of cunts Brooklyn-style,

 No.4641

Band: Carnivore

Song: Macho Man

Cover of: Village People

Reason I like it: Another bootleg, is fucking hilarious in that it has a tongue in cheek politically incorrect reference to The Village People

Good taste, even though you're a tripfaggot. Another good cover by Crowbar is Remember Tomorrow, I personally believe it's better than the Iron Maiden original.

Another favorite of mine is Pantera's Cat Scratch Fever. They really encompassed the feel and the groove of the original, I don't give a fuck what Ted Nugent says.

Band: Ghost

Song: Here Comes the Sun

Cover of: The Beatles

Reason I like it: They perverted a happy, poppy song and flipped the lyrics to be about the occult without changing anything.

Band: Candlemass

Song: Don't Fear The Reaper

Cover of: Blue Öyster Cult

 No.4776

Band: Sanctuary

Song: White Rabbit

Cover of: Jefferson Airplane

Tim Owens killing it on King Diamond's "Abigail"

Band:Exhorder

Song:Into The Void

Cover of:Black Sabbath

Reason I like it:I like Kyle's more emotional vocals and I think it really adds to the depressing atmosphere of the song.I also like how a thrash/groove metal band were able to translate a slow doom metal type song into their own sound in a a way that didn't come off as unnatural.

Bloodshed Walhalla covering "Twilight of the Gods" by Bathory. I find the vocals to be better on this one.
