HOLY SHIT IT'S pretty good
I'd say this is their best post-breakup album they've done, which is a pleasant surprise. It's relatively better than A Matter of Life and Death and significantly better than Final Frontier. My only big complaint is that most of the songs are waaaay longer than they need to be, with a lot of solo filler taking up big portions of the track. Something tells me they write songs like this so that Bruce can take a break during a show and prevent his voicebox from bursting into flames. I know this is a Maiden tradition, but in the old days they usually had two long songs on average per album. Glad to see them putting this much effort into their new stuff, though.
Speed of Light is hype as fuck and has a hype as fuck video to go along with it.
Shadows of the Valley is good, but it sounds oddly similar to both Wasted Years and Where Eagles Dare.
If Eternity Should Fail took me a few listens, but it's grown on me quite a bit. I especially like the name of the song for some reason.
Empire of the Clouds isn't the masterpiece they obviously wanted it to be, but it's easily the comfiest metal song I've ever heard, and I've listened to some surprisingly comfy sludge/doom/funeral metal.
Everything else is ranges from decent to meh. Glad they managed to make up for Final Frontier.
