So, I went to en.metal-tracker which is a torrent site exclusively for metal, and I decided to just load everything there by seeders and scrolling through download anything I hadn't heard of that was popular, anything that had a cool name or cover, and some other stuff just for shits (initially I was looking for the Spinal Tap discography, but that only had one seed and was taking forever so I decided to get some other stuff in the meantime.)

Now, there's some stuff I've heard of in here, I'm not a *complete* pleb. I intentionally downloaded a few turds out of curiosity, but there's a lot of stuff in here I'd never heard of.

Anything particularly *good* from this pile though?

-Listened to the Gloryhammer cds, after seeing them mentioned here actually. They weren't awful, but nothing especially caught my attention.

-Cage had a couple songs I might listen to again, but overall felt kind of edgy meh.

-Huntress sounded like Dethklok with a female vocalist. Her vocals were mediocre though. I'm going to give it a second listen.

-Lindemann was exactly what I expected. I'd already heard some of the songs from it. The tunes are catchy enough, because I like Pain. Don't know that I like it as much as either artist, though.

If you like catchy stuff, you can go with Powerwolf.

I haven't listened to the more recent works from Dark Moor, but I remember their first albums being very good.

Therion has some very good stuff, you should take a listen to them, definitely.

Why do you have "anime" thrown there in the middle?

Can confirm Powerwolf is good. Cheesy but good. Therion is also very good. If you end up liking it, give Dark Lunacy a listen. Hell, even if you don't like Therion give it a listen. It's pretty fantastic. Think neoclassical / Black Symphonic.

Also Disturbed's "Immortalized" sucked.

Well I had other torrents in there, and I wasn't ready to move those two folders to my external yet. The anime because I had to pick and choose what I was keeping and deleting.

The porn torrent because I try to keep at least one big one going to improve my ratio on empornium.

I was currently giving Silenzium a listen, so far it's not really doing anything for me. It sounds like they were going for what Apocalyptica did, covering rock songs with classical instruments, but so far every single song I've heard has been a cover. In some cases it's just their covers of classical songs with drums added, and a lot of the rock songs they chose are really odd choices. The first cd has a classical cover of an Offspring song. I mean, I like Offspring but it sounded weird hearing it played with cellos. And the song that immediately followed that was a Linkin Park song.
