As cucked as the mods of /tech/ are for banning me, it is only a 5 hour ban. I don't know if they need their board raped for it, as hilarious as it would be. Do you /intl/fags just hang out on every meta board on this site?

Can you please relegate browser threads to a general thread, please?

Or better yet make a board for these faggots?

Why do we need so many browser threads when they all boil down to "what browser should I use?"

That's what the vast majority of discussion is in them. There's uneducated retards who don't know what the Gecko rendering engine is, saying it's better than "Australis", spouting their uneducated opinions. This is what happens when the board is flooded with lowest common denominator shitposts on garbage anyone can have an opinion on.

Linux distro recommendation threads are also cancerous.

Any suggestions, or do I have to write a fucking regexp to filter any thread that matches the name of any browser specifically?

59e3af No.1214

>>1211

Oh so terribly sorry, are browser threads cutting into your need for at least 80% of the board to be the same linux and emacs threads over and over?

In light of the spam and shitposts that recently flooded /tech/, I've decided to add a new volunteer from Europe to cover the off-hours where the rest of us would be asleep. Work's been eating away at my free time and I haven't been able to get on all too often. My current volunteers have been carrying a lot, if not most of the weight, and for that I apologize. Hopefully things can get sorted out a little better with more hands on deck.

If you have been banned or have had any posts deleted for any reason other than rule breaking, please email me at tech@8chan.co

I welcome this decision. It is great to have more diversity on the /tech/ team. But, even though we're progressing, we still have a long way to go as a board in accepting and empowering marginalised voices. That is why I propose the moderation team adopt a Code of Conduct (CoC) to make the board more welcoming for marginalised groups. In particular, terms such as 'f**got' and 'tr*p' should be avoided because of their power to trigger our minorities in tech.

Please consider this suggestion. It will be a victory for equality, for minorities, and, most importantly, a victory for the right side of history.

When spreading the gospel about why not to buy Intel, it's easy enough to just hand someone the link libreboot.org/faq/#intelme like pic related — but there's no such thing available for NVidia. I'm usually stuck saying something like

>they're unethical.. GameWorks was rigged and sabotage..... Or something. Um.

>one of their cards has 3.5 GB RAM, but it's advertised as having 4

>their open source Linux drivers suck

I know that we have 8ch.net/tech/ddg.html on why not to use DuckDuckGo; could we create something like that to quickly get normies up-to-speed on why they should not support NVidia? Maybe something like >>>/tech/553231

could we maybe have a /dpt/ sticky? i appreciate that really threads should stand on their own merits and not be stickied, but i hate having to go to halfchan just to browse the /dpt/, especially considering that its just a couple of legit posts mixed in with an entire thread of shitposting now.

I'm curious if someone more experienced than I in the field wanted to start a thread about making automated internet money

examples: Craigslist scripting, Online bidding automation, Adsense blogs.

This is technology related, and helps developers who arent interested in selling an app or SASS. The gigs are more about mass and technology assistance.

> But how will arguing about it do that?

I'm not arguing anything. You are the one who has trouble with basic facts. You have to be dragged kicking and screaming to simply acknowledge them. 8ch is a shitty site, let's be honest. I've been here since it started and I grew disenchanted a few months ago and I just don't have the stomach anymore for this "IRCwheels did nothing wrong" bullshit. He is working on some dank meme shit when he isn't living off of ad revenue and can't be assed out to himself hit the books and learn how to unfuck his site. "Let Odilitime do the heavy lifting". Meanwhile Odilitime runs Endchan. Why not just use Endchan, cut out the shitty admin of 8ch altogether?

And to answer your question directly, unless you confront problems and overcome them, nothing improves, ever. I could attack you personally for your attitude of "what good does even bringing it up do?", but I think I can let this point go without savaging you, and I trust that you will still absorb the lesson.

No more excuses, yesterday you said tomorrow, just do it. IRCwheels isn't going to unfuck himself, so let's just go to Endchan where IRCwheels is only a "part-owner". You still get your IRC-circlejerk without IRCwheel's gross negligence and a horribly broken user experience.

3611bb No.1190

>>1188

I don't have a position that makes it any easier for me to overcome those technical problems than it is for anyone else, so this isn't the place for me to argue about those technical problems. I'm fine with arguing about them in other places, and without a capcode.

For what it's worth, I'm a volunteer on Endchan /tech/, too. The board owner is too busy playing video games to check the report queue, and as far as I can tell from the logs, the last time he did a local moderation action was when he deleted all threads two months ago because he thought they were too shitty. If you don't like gross negligence, don't go there. I'm the only one taking care of it, and one person is not enough for a reasonably-sized board.

c57979 No.1191

>>1189

>cloudflare can't connect to server

>no page 3

>double posts for half a year, seems to be better lately

>10 MB WEBM limit

Is "crybaby" what you called someone who left 4chan over GG? Over censorship, etc.? Low quality trolling tbh fam, smh. My point is that there is literally no reason to prefer 8ch over 4ch or Endchan, depending on what is important to you. The only people who could support 8ch at this point are either total idiots or masochists.

>>1190

If true, its just another reason why anything tangentially related to 8ch is doomed. Right now it is at the sweet spot for maximum fun. No Captcha, no spam orlow-quality posts from massive waves of Redditors. On so many boards here at 8ch I constantly see links to Reddit. Its worse then it ever was on 4chan, these days... times were different a year ago but mini-moot fucked that all up.

And if you hated Moot, he's gone. 4chan and 8ch both have 2ch people behind the curtain... but based Jim, despite leaving the uncensored Jap porn business, he never shared his stash of delicious uncensored Jap porn. He owned and made his fortune off of Jap porn but he never shared a bit of it with us. No busty uncensored Jap milf or anything like that... wtf man!? Why is Jim better than Hiroyuki or whatever the fuck his name is? Jim hasn't done shit for me. He should have demanded that Josh be fired six months earlier, talk about shitty ownership. What the fuck guys, are we not allowed to dissent anymore?

>technical and admin problems are beyond our control, keep posting and giving ad revenue to these fucking assholes

If a chan pops up that isn't run by total fuckwits, it will become a powerhouse of dank memes and everyone will forget these places just discussed ever existed. Rotten.com, etc. ... just tears in the rain.

/metatech/, The same question has been itching at me every time I have been on /tech/ and that is the preservation of the boards quality, or whats left of it anyway? Yeah we should probably discuss the mental illness you suffer from, causing you to ascribe the action of every no-life NEET spamming the board to some conspiracy to slide very important topics.

It's not like /tech/ discusses anything important anyway.

We could be talking about technology.

Instead, it's "EVERYTHING IS BOTNET EVERYONE IS SHILLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS" unless it's a linux distro or autistic "my command prompt console is better than yours" thread.

I haven't been able to do as much hotpocketing lately due to work, but I'll try to come on a bit more often. Might consider adding more vols for when the 'A' team's asleep.

I tend to either put threads tangentially related to technology or otherwise low quality threads on autosage or flat-out delete them. That one I decided to autosage.
