I hate to say it, but the future looks grey. The community manager is alienated from the community, and the site owner only sees it as a resource to be exploited. Josh is on our side, but he needs time to finish fixing Next and to fix his own life. He might be able to provide a better alternative someday, but we can't count on it.

My complaint is the rampant shitposting that no one is doing shit about. We can have 6 of the same thread on the first 4 pages. No one does anything. It's like the mods are scared to piss off some faggots from freech so much that they would rather let the board be shit than do anything. The quality has degraded so badly that I go to the catalog then I close the tab because why fucking bother?

The reason nothing happened was that I was away without internet for two days. There were 106 reports when I got back. I dealt with all of them now. Thank you.

I asked the board owner about adding a new volunteer.

I have a counter set up that tells me when there are new reports, so I deal with reports as soon as I can. If I don't deal with reports, that's because I can't, so spamming doesn't help.

The way 8chan's report system works, reports only disappear by the post being deleted or the report being manually dismissed. This means that all reports do have to get dealt with in the end.

I sometimes dismiss duplicate thread reports if they're not actually duplicate threads, but two threads with different content, different authors and a similar topic. How often does it happen that reports for true duplicate threads aren't handled within a day?

I'm somewhat closely involved with Endchan. These are a few of the issues I have with it:

- The administrator deleted all Tor posts across the entire site because they showed up as coming from 127.0.0.1 and he thought someone hacked his server. His excuse for this is that nobody told him his own site had a hidden service.

- The administrator really wants to own Endchan's /tech/, separation between board and site administration or not, but doesn't seem to do anything with it.

- He appointed https://a.cocaine.ninja/xcbfcx.png as a /tech/ mod for a few hours, until someone else demoted him. Well, he meant to, but because of a miscommunication, he was made board owner instead.

- The automatic refresh after posting happens an arbitrary time after submitting, consistently before your post actually went through, making it useless. According to StephenLynx, fixing this so it loads after your post goes through is too complicated.

- The moderation tools are insane, and mixed with the reporting tools for some reason. They were made without even looking at 8chan's.

It's healthy to have an alternative, and I want Endchan to work, but at the moment, it doesn't.

Anyway, I'm curious. What do you post on /tech/ that started getting deleted a few months ago? Can you give a sample? Maybe it will convince more people to switch. Concrete examples are more effective.

I don't have a position that makes it any easier for me to overcome those technical problems than it is for anyone else, so this isn't the place for me to argue about those technical problems. I'm fine with arguing about them in other places, and without a capcode.

For what it's worth, I'm a volunteer on Endchan /tech/, too. The board owner is too busy playing video games to check the report queue, and as far as I can tell from the logs, the last time he did a local moderation action was when he deleted all threads two months ago because he thought they were too shitty. If you don't like gross negligence, don't go there. I'm the only one taking care of it, and one person is not enough for a reasonably-sized board.
