d39670 No.183

After so many meta threads being made criticizing my style of hotpocketeering for being "too slack" or that "I don't care about /tech/" made me curious as to what you guys think? What kind of moderation do you guys prefer? Lax? Strict? Would be nice to know, considering vocal minorities tend to be heard more than the general populace, and it would be nice to hear from both sides of the isle. http://strawpoll.me/4038911

59bfdc No.184

/tech/ is fucking fine

it's probably the same butthurt rulecucks that made /polpol/

7650c6 No.185

A bit stricter than now would be nice. Get rid of the most obnoxious shitposting. Not much stricter though.

e6f9e7 No.187

Well, the first page is so bad I think we are being raided right now. You might want to take a look and clean it from bait garbage and that tech support thread.

File: 1428202706954.png (630.84 KB, 659x1417, 659:1417, Paul Blart 3, Baby Blart 2.png)

Honestly I'd like a bit stricter moderation, but not too strict. I'm just tired of obvious troll threads taking up page one. There's really no effort. It's the same shit I've seen six bazillion times There's no discussion to be had there, and most of it isn't discussing technology, but rather politics or opinions of someone (at least, referring to the shitposting of the last few days.)

07cb2d No.192

Please don't bring 8/a/ style of moderation to /tech/ or I won't be able to post there anymore. Everything is fine.

cc2617 No.207

The problem is that only people who don't like the moderation come here, others don't give a fuck. So if you want to know what /tech/ thinks you should post the poll on /tech/ IMO.

015b84 No.208

everything is perfectly fine, needs to be more lax because that is never a bad idea to lax up moderation.

242293 No.209

Just delete shit threads, like the unbuntu one

015b84 No.210

>>209
"shit threads" are subjective
don't delete any threads IMO unless they are blatantly insanely off topic.

Agree.
Do not transform /tech/ on fascist moderation.
If you have good people on board, they will try always put a thread non-related (retarded) on a good way, in a good discussion.
We don't need rules, we don't need a "wiz" moderation, we have all we need on tech to free speech, do not strict it.
[opinion]

536557 No.216

Everything is mostly fine in /tech/, except for those corporate/governmental shills.

Exactly. If anything I would banhammer anyone who uses "go back to /pol/" or uses stormfaggot. That is just premium bait designed to derail threads.

That said, stop liking what I don't like. >:^)

fe91f3 No.219

>>183
No complaints from me. Keep up the good work, hotpocket.

a97d15 No.220

We already have "facist" moderation when it comes to tech support threads and consumer recommendations. So really, what the fuck are you talking about?

78d5b9 No.221

>>183
Keep it up. Loose/current moderation is good.

74f201 No.222

I think things are okay so far. My only pet-peeve is faggots who post shit threads without knowing jack shit, like this ubuntu fag (>>>/tech/184668) who doesn't know what a DE is and thinks that Unity=Ubuntu.

4a027e No.223

remove obvoius bait/shitposts, should be pretty easy, also feel free to axe the avatar faggots/countersage spammers, they contribute nothing.

2ac43d No.224

won't stop bitching about it. ban all the "What job do you have" and "what should i study" "how much do you make"

like http://8ch.net/tech/res/174825.html

god fucking dammit.

719975 No.225

I'm tired of obvious bait threads that just rile people up and waste everyone's time. Nothing is ever learned. But really it's the fault of the posters for wasting their own time responding to bait.

Also any time someone gives an answer to a tech support thread outside the sticky, they're just encouraging more people to start tech support threads that get 3 posts do nothing but fill up the board.

a97d15 No.226

>>224
The problem is that those do have the potential to bring promising discussions, unlike "which antivirus do you recommend" or "how do I make firefox do X" or "which browser should I use?"

All in all, increased moderation won't help, this place has clearly gone down the shitter and the users we lost aren't going to come back, and are instead being replaced by fucktards right off the train from /g/. It's not anyone's fault, it's just the way shit goes.

5b6c68 No.229

i agree with >>223 and follow-ups.
can't use strawpoll because muh js.

4a24f3 No.232

plox no strawpoll

c8fd98 No.239

Fuck strawpolls, only morons bother to vote in them.

Just do what you feel is right and tell people to fuck off if they complain. We all know that a shit thread on a inane topic can turn into something good while one that had a lot of effort in it and is about an interesting subject can be ignored. It's up to the users to decide what kind of board they want.

a97d15 No.240

>>239
In that case, why don't we just get rid of the rules on deleting tech support threads and consumer recommendations.
I'm sure it'll all work out, after all, the users gets to decide what kind of board they want. And fucking retards will be able to come in here and shit up the place, and have other fucking retards reply to them.

Sure sounds great to me. Why don't we just fucking call this place /g/ - Smartphones, "build my PC" and Linux circljerking already?

You fucking cunt

83890a No.241

We should be careful about this.

Goons have been shitting up the boards for the past few weeks and been trying to cause drama to make people leave and go to other boards that they control. We should be careful to avoid the same fate.

Discussion:

>>>/baphomet/77143

>>>/meta/72067

That said, I have no major problems with how things are runs right now. My only suggestion would be more moderation of obviously shit/bait threads.

d39670 No.242

>>239
Hey. It's nice to have a general idea of what people want.

>>241
Oh god damn it...

c8fd98 No.243

>>240
Right now every major board on this site is experiencing massive shitposting from constant organized attacks. The best way to deal with it is by ignoring them and going on as if nothing was happening. Tightening up moderation and implementing major changes that inconvenience real users is exactly what they want to see and won't do anything to stop them. The less you interact with them the sooner they lose that high of pissing people off forcing them to take a look at how much they're wasting their lives. They then move on to easier targets.

A hands off "I don't give a fuck about your complaints, nothing is going to change unless it seems sensible" board owner and a userbase that ignores them is the last thing they'd want to deal with. The people causing the problems now aren't normal users and will go away soon enough.

663f4c No.244

>>187
> I think we are being raided right now
/pol/ here, goons are raiding almost every board right now

ban anyone that uses 'rulecuck' or has a history of nothing but shitposting with anime pictures and you'll be fine

a97d15 No.247

>>243
This has nothing to do with the shitty drama on your boards, you cock. We don't deal with any of that anime shit spam. It has nothing to do with this conversation. And honestly, if you think that "the community" will just fucking self-moderate I suggest you lurk more. Because that seems to be what you were suggesting, and it simply doesn't. That kind of bullshit "lol just hide the threads" gave us /g/ back on half. So really, fuck off.

2ac43d No.248

>>226
entire different thing between "i'm working on this project thread" and these faggots

fuck it. i'm out. see ya

c8fd98 No.249

>>247
If the community is unable to self moderate with a helping hand from the owner and mods it deserves what it gets. I've been around since September and /tech/ has never looked as bad as it has in the last week or so, even someone who visited 2 weeks ago could tell that something has changed drastically. Every top 10 board is experiencing this in the exact same time frame, it's not a coincidence that loli threads and child model pictures have been popping up like mushrooms recently.

And /g/ went to shit thanks to shills being allowed openly and terrible moderation that didn't care or interact with the community. The users were only partly responsible, jumping ship was the obvious thing to do when there's no reason why things won't stop getting worse.

a97d15 No.250

>>249
Then again, as I said fucktard, just remove all of the rules banning tech support and consumer recommendations. Just burn the fucking place down if that were the fucking case.

>le september meme

So have I, and you'd know what a stupid fucking idea removing moderation from the equation would be and throwing this shithole further to the wolves, just because it's faster and we seem to have lost a bit of userbase.

And seriously, what the fuck, you don't make any sense. On one hand, you imply that modeation should be loosened, and on another you say that /g/ was killed by LACK of moderation (which I agree with.)

Seriously, what the fuck are you even saying? You're incoherent.

a97d15 No.254

>>253
It's not organized attacks. It's just /int/ roleplaying and a sperg or two shitting up boards like /sp/. Get over yourself.

The shitposting this board is experiencing is just from getting bigger, and your run of the mill user churn, because some retard keeps advertising this place on /g/. "8ch" isn't filtered there so some retard keeps bringing this place up every several days. It's not a big conspiracy, go check the archives yourself.

This. I'm tired of the most obvious bait shitposting gets reposted for eternities and still gets replies and page one. Just warn/ban people who does nothing than shitpost according to their history, and delete the threads. For me that whats the reason that /g/ went to shit. I can swear that now there is at least one pasta there floating around since I left /g/.

/meta/ boards are never a good idea. They create more problems than they fix. Why don't you people ever learn?

You're even using strawpoll to gauge consensus which is another terrible idea.

That image..

There are 3 main arguments against Net Neutrality:
>ISP monopolies/abuse aren't that bad
Shit tier argument
>Net Neutrality won't fix the problem
Not a bad argument
>Net neutrality will cause more problems
Very valid argument

The diagram of the FCC cutting off free speech is correct, but the "solution looking for a problem" caption is dead-wrong. Net Neutrality may or may not be the solution, but malicious behavior by ISPs is an extremely pervasive problem.

It's blatant advertisement at this point, after all revelations from how dirt their foundation is. Literally a meme project that only survives because of shilling and IRC circle-jerkers.

But in /tech/'s case, Look at what happened in this thread: >>>/tech/187636

There's no shortage of reports coming from me. But when there's only one mod and no strict plan as to what gets deleted the shitposters are just getting to be too fucking stupid to deal with. Better off just going elsewhere for meaningful discussion at this point.

/tech/ is swamped in shitposts. Moderation has to be WAY stricter.

e42d25 No.287

I really don't see anything wrong with the way /tech/ is currently hotpocketed. And to be honest, stricter moderation won't make shitposting go away. Shitposting is an integral part of a channel, and strict hotpockets are only going to make it worse.

Bored /int/ poster here.

It's generally a bad idea to hold this kind of poll on this board considering only those who are obsessed with banning things they don't like or complaining about /tech/ threads/posts are the majority of individuals that browse a meta board.

The poll will be biased.

It would be better if you made a thread on /tech/ because you know where everyone else who isn't a loser who spends all his time on meta boards.

and would like add
>using strawpoll
