Please ban anyone asking for advice about jobs or kids asking what to study to get a job.

Also, if someone has a job, they might stop visiting 8chan.

In all seriousness, I don't see a problem with discussing jobs in /tech/. I'd guess that the vast majority of software development is done as part of a job (including free software- lots of FOSS devs are paid, esp kernel devs). So, it's definitely not too far off-topic.

Additionally, most jobs threads are about interviews and resume building. Discussion about interviews frequently involves problem solving and interesting puzzles. Writing a resume is also all about hacking both the scripts that will be processing resumes en-masse and about hacking what makes a resume great.

In short, I think talking about careers (primarily software dev careers) in /tech/ is both on-topic and usually somewhat constructive and interesting dialogue.

there's a difference about talking about technology used in jobs and people asking for jobs/interviews/career advice

it is very annoying and one of the main reason that drove me away from half's /g/

I've gotta agree with OP.

Asking about something specifically technical is quite a bit different than asking about some bullshit, boring topic on how to please corporate overlords.

If you work, you die. >:^)

One career technology thread should be fine. It's better than the daily browser threads.

The institutions that structure "jobs" are arguably a technology from a sociological/cybernetic perspective.
